Overview

Photos and Description of this Whitehorse holiday cottage

Built with round logs, scribe fit, and lots of attention to detail, this cabin makes you feel like reliving the Gold Rush days. Resembling the structures of trappers, prospectors and wood cutters it is that simplicity and coziness that makes this cabin so special. With a classic Yukon Stove you stay warm and comfortable even in the coldest temperatures. A double bed in the separated back room provides room for 2 people. Another two people may retire in the loft of the front area.

The kitchen area has a spacious counter with a 2 burner propane stove, water jugs and all other cooking and eating necessities. Table, chairs and a bench compliments the view out into the wild.

Of course, there is the typical outhouse next to your cabin.Rates:

Personal gear, your own groceries, sleeping bags, binoculars and hiking boots (optional!)Take a short 45 minute drive from Whitehorse, west on the Alaska Highway towards Haines Junction. The wide Takhini Valley, once victim of a widespread wildfire now features a vast and vital ecosystem of new grown firs, spruce and poplars. Sprinkled with numerous meadows and ponds this area allows for a fantastic bird population, ranging from sand pipers to hawks and eagles.

A full day hike starting close to the cabin will lead you through the Ibex Valley with its turquoise lakes and steep rock formation where the rare Ibex Sheep once roamed. Today you may spot the white flecks of Dall Sheep, listen to the excited shrieks of ground squirrels or - most of the time enjoy total solitude and quietness. Your cabin is placed in a private spot, a few hundred meters from the end of a drive way. From the window your view falls on Pyramid Mountain, the highest Peak of the Ibex Ridge. No smoking
