The Stone House is one of the original buildings in Marigot Bay, a site probably chosen for its fabulous Bay view & cooling easterly breeze.
A recent renovation has created a relaxing & inspiring home with modern day comforts & artistic charm.
The front gates open into a driveway with parking for 2/3 vehicles directly outside the house. On entrance you're greeted by an open-plan living room and kitchen area, a light and uplifting social space with vaulted ceiling & hardwood flooring.
The kitchen has unique polished concrete tops with breakfast bar & stools, the sink looks out onto an ocean view making this a pleasurable area to create cocktails & feasts, a local cook is an optional extra, you'll see how the unusual local produce is cooked & experience a delicious home cooked creole meal.
The favorite spot is usually the balcony, accessed through large sliding glass doors, you're instantly captured by the view which can be enjoyed from the lounge or dining areas situated on the balcony.
The 3 double bedrooms (King size, Queen size & Standard) all have bay views & louvered glass windows allowing you to control the welcome through breeze.
All beds are hand crafted on the island and each bedroom has an individually designed en-suite bathroom.
The house is on two levels connected by a handmade wooden spiral staircase.
The King size bedroom is on the upper level, it has AC, a ceiling fan & a large fitted wardrobe.
Both the Queen size & Standard bedrooms are on the lower level divided by another lounge/recreational area, there is a small fridge & sink, allowing you to enjoy hot & cold beverages whilst relaxing downstairs. Double doors open onto an outside deck with table & chairs, it conveniently leads to the pool....great spot to enjoy your coffee/tea after a morning swim.
The classic kidney shaped swimming pool has a salt water system, its 27’x 13’in size & ranges from 4’-7’depth. An incoming waterfall creates a relaxing sound whilst the infinity edge shelf ensures the beautiful bay is still in view.
A Caribbean home just isn't complete without a BBQ, with a pool side seating area this provides another dining option, particularly enjoyable during sunset!
The house has both 220v & 110v electrical supply & ceiling fans are fitted in every room.
Solar water heating & rain water collection tanks are one of the eco-friendly features.
Free Wi-Fi throughout, cable TV, a multi-regional DVD player & sound system with large speakers inside & small speakers outside on the balcony to ensure you can listen to your favorite music via your iPod. whilst enjoying a rum punch or local Piton beer & watching the boats, birds or night lights in the picturesque bay.
I’m a designer/artist born in the UK, hence the artistic décor & unconventional finishes.
I’ve lived in St Lucia around 7 years, managing our house build then renovating The Stone House.
Living close by means I'm on hand to help, advise & recommend, it's great to meet people & enthuse in the beauty of this island through fresh eyes.
Having travelled extensively, it's always fun to hear about new places & other peoples recommendations.
I love snorkelling, wild life, nature, and the sun! These are just a few of the reasons I've stayed......it's a stunning island & Marigot Bay has an irresistible charm; it’s hard to leave & always great to be back!
Sabina Siddiqi purchased this house in 2008
Location!!! Marigot is a stunning location, it's also on the cost of the Caribbean sea, perfect to access both north & south of the island by road or by sea.
Marigot Bay has a wonderful community, a mix of residents, visitors & locals, integrating local life with international people, an interesting social environment.
I enjoy exploring, trekking through the rain forest, BBQ’s on beaches, a mud bath in the volcanic spring & adore waterfalls all of which the island has to offer.
I lived at the Stone House for 4 years whilst building another property just down the road where I now live. It's a very special home, when I spend a few days there I still find it hard to leave, especially now we've finished the renovation, it's bright, open, arty & fun.
I love unusual, natural, character places, which generally tends to be older properties. The Stone house is one of the original buildings in the bay, built from stones found on the land in 1960's, I believe they followed a Canadian chalet design, it was 2 apartments, we've now converted it into one house adding an extra bedroom with bathroom. I love the fact it has a chimney & fireplace an unusual feature that gives it character, I've now installed a built-in gas oven, which signifies our changing times. It's wonderfully solid & simple, stone walls & wood floors, the glass sliding doors & louvered glass windows are great, seeing the sea, sky & trees, feeling the breeze, all this gives me a sense of space & well being.
The pool is fab too, we've put an infinity edge shelf, so now it's so relaxing hanging on the edge watching the Bay.....perfect!
Undeniably the best spot in the house is the veranda, sitting on a lounge chair gazing down into this stunning bay, watching the boats, birds, people playing on the beach, the magical night scene with lights & music drifting up from the bay...with a cold Piton Beer...really can't be beaten, it's captivating, relaxing, therapeutic.... indescribable!
What a great place to relax and enjoy St. Lucia. Stone house is a wonderful place to stay. You can have a relaxing quiet stay or have fun after hours in the bay area bars. Sabina and Brett were the best house hosts ever as they live near the property. Brought us home from happy hour one evening, which was very much appreciated. The restaurants have fun ambiance for whatever you are in the mood for. We have stayed at VRBO's all over the Caribbean and this place is top notch. Thanks again Sabina and Brett
We came to Saint Lucia with no idea of what to expect, and it turned out to be one of our best vacations. You can find everything here: history (Pigeon Island, Soufriere), geological phenomena (active volcano, hot mud baths, which my kids loved!). You can feel like Indiana Jones going through a rainforest (a few hours or a few days – ask David about it), checking out the market or a boat trip around the island (an absolute must!). The best part was the Stone House. Very comfortable, with an authentic island feel and décor, but fully modern and “westerner ready”, so it was easy to live in it and return to after tropical adventures, yet never lose the feeling that you’re on an exotic island.
For us, the best features were:
• View (breathtaking!)
• Close enough to the beach to make it an every morning run/walk destination
• Pool (infinity with a small waterfall)
And last, but definitely not least, the highlight of our trip was meeting our host, Sabina, who was very friendly, helpful and an all-knowing source of information about the island. When we ended up with no transportation for one day, she offered her own car and time to take us around for a trip. Thank you, Sabina, for being such a wonderful friend! Zosia and Leo still talk about our walks with the dogs. We miss you!
When it comes to planning trips and attractions, David, Sabina’s helper can be a great help. He can also cook you amazing Creol dishes, and it’s definitely worth giving a try. He uses his family recipes, and all the cooking is done in front of your eyes, while he tells you his amazing stories.
Overall, we highly recommend vacationing at Saint Lucia’s Stone House; whether you’re seeking adventure or relaxation, you’re going to have a great time here!

PS Coming back next year, Sabina!
We loved our 12 day stay at the Stone House in Marigot Bay. During initial planning, Sabina gave us recommendations for taxi pickup at the airport, car rental, and diving. We arrived with Sabina waiting for us at the front door with a big smiling welcome and a cold Piton! Marcus, and Bobbie, from Islander Cars, were waiting for us at the house with the car we rented. Lots of laughs and we felt very much at home. The sea breeze was flowing through the house and the view of Marigot Bay was priceless!
The internet worked fantastic and we were able to bluetooth our music and radio. The kitchen provided everything we needed and the view was beautiful. The pool was perfect! Sabina gave us her recommendations for restaurants, and they didn't disappoint! Davie cooked an excellent dinner for us one night and he is an amazing kind soul. We were able to spend a bit of time with Sabina, and we look forward to keeping in touch.
The location of the Stone House is perfect. Located right in the middle when venturing North to Pigeon Island and Rodney Bay, or South to hike Gros Piton and visit Sugar Beach. The roads are rough and the traffic can be very hectic so the location was very doable! We liked to visit the beach at Ti Kaye, and the lunch and snorkeling there was really good! The diving was fantastic with Dive St Lucia! But on a daily basis, we were always relieved to hike back up to our house on the hillside, after dinner out, to a welcoming breeze. It gets quite hot down in the bay. We heard a few times that other renters were not happy with their house, and we were very happy! Let Sabina be your guide. The Stone House was just terrific!
Finding the Stone House was challenging initially because there was no property-specific directional signage, however, the property owner, Sabina directed us to the location.
The property and accommodations were quite lovely, and had an artistic flair. The windows and sliding doors provided excellent natural lighting and enabled enjoyment of the Caribbean breezes!.
Water temperature of showers tended to be chilly during the day - warmer showers were more available at night.
Sabina was a very warm and welcoming host; was accessible as needed. Sabina provided information on local sights and identified resources, prior to and during the stay which was helpful.
We spent almost two weeks at Stone House for a family Xmas holiday with our adult kids. The house is exactly as described and photographed and we were very pleased with our stay, and sorry to have to go home.
We appreciated the location and being able to wander down the hill to Marigot Bay for meals or coffees but we also really liked cooking our own meals in the well stocked kitchen and lazing around by the beautiful pool drinking Pitons (the local Brew). The house is a ten minute walk down the hill to some amazing restaurants and the famous Marigot Bay yachts and beach, but it's also a beautiful house to hang around in for the day. We spent a lot of time on the wide open deck gazing down on the yacht activities in the harbour, while still enjoying our peace and quiet in the house. Strong wifi made the kids happy, but so did the privacy of our own pool equipped with a variety of deck chairs for endless suntanning and general laziness... it was a nice break.
Sabina was wonderfully helpful and checked in a few times making sure we were comfortable and gave us some local recommendations and referrals which we enjoyed trying out. We were grateful for the use of a local mobile phone, and liked that there was a safe to keep our valuables protected.
While you could live without a car (once you get from the airport) we generally prefer to drive ourselves around and explore the island and Stone House is well situated for getting to many of the interesting and 'must-see' places by car, however we discovered that Water Taxi is one of the best ways to get to the famous (and secluded) beaches and snorkelling and there are a number of water taxies available in Marigot Bay. We arranged some fun excursions up and down the coast without any difficulty.
Overall we found this to be a lovely house and location and highly recommend it and we won't hesitate to revisit again.
We spent 10 wonderful days at the Stone House. The property is beautiful with plenty of room for everyone - and the pool was fabulous! Sabina really made us feel welcomed, and she was very responsive to our questions and requests. The home is well stocked and well equipped - everything we needed for a wonderful vacation!
