A five-minute stroll takes you to Sanibel's famous shelling beach, just across the street from our condo unit. Completely redecorated in ''Sanibel style,'' the unit is beautifully appointed with original art, tile floors, decorator furnishings, a completely renovated master bath, and a kitchen with marble counters and 'high end' appliances. The Sandpebble complex is quiet, intimate, and non-commercial -- just 23 units, most of which are owner occupied. The garden-like grounds run along the Sanibel river, with deck and eating/barbeque areas overlooking the Beachview golf course, across the water. The pleasant pool area has ample lounge chairs and tables. We have an on-island rental agent who can address any questions or problems with a local phone call.
The unit is on the top (4th) floor, with the best view and no noises from units above. Our newly appointed lanai is newly tiled and has comfortable chairs for relaxation and an attractive dining area.
We are across the street from the beach, and there is a "peak-a-view" of the gulf from the lanai. From the other side of the condo, you'll see the bird and animal life along the Sanibel River and the golfers moving down the fairway. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the utensils a guest might need to whip up anything from microwave popcorn to a gourmet meal. The spacious living room has flat screen TV with DVD, stereo with MP3 connection, WiFi (and a wired high-speed internet connection), and a small library of cookbooks and books on local activities and the flora and fauna of Sanibel. There are television sets in both bedrooms. The unit is equipped with a Bosch dishwasher; coin-operated clothes washers and dryers are conveniently located just downstairs.
Sandpebble is centrally located on Sanibel's network of bike paths -- a short ride to the shops along Periwinke Way, a longer peddle to the wildlife at Ding Darling National Wildlife Preserve, or the Sanibel Recreation Center, with its Olympic swimming pool, gym and weight rooms, lighted tennis courts, and childrens water play area. Whether it's the beaches, parks and wildlife, shopping, or great dining alternatives, you'll find everything Sanibel has to offer close at hand.
A note on the effects of Hurricane Ian in September 2022: Sanibel was hit hard by Ian and it has taken more than a year for many properties and retail establishments to recover. We are not taking reservations for stays before November 2023 because we can't be certain that our condo complex will be completely ready for occupancy. Our condo, on the third floor, was not severely damaged, but units on the first floor, utilities, the elevator, and air conditioning units on the roof were virtually destroyed. Repairs are progressing, but we will not rent our apartment until everything is returned to ship-shape condition. One note, however: the hurricane virtually destroyed the garden-like plantings around our building. We expect that repairs to the gardens will be made by the end of 2023, but it takes time for the vegetation to come back, and thus things may appear a bit bare into 2024. Please contact us if you have any questions.
