About Nicolle and Robert

We work hard ... But have no fear we play hard too!

Whenever time allows, we can be found cooking up a fabulous concoction in the kitchen (red wine in hand) & we often share with our guests too;) or we may be out & about walking the rio grande with our 4 (yes! Four), four legged family: Rio, Bella, Buck and Hank ... On many occasions, we visit the plethora of dog friendly restaurant patio's and can often be found on our bikes headed to a new SW Adventure in The Land Of Enchantment.

Why Nicolle and Robert chose Huning Castle

Historic Albuquerque, New Mexico is a combination of the very old and the highly contemporary, the frontier town and the cosmopolitan city. It is a city with a truly rich history!!

The petroglyphs, vistas, sunsets, food, art, historic attractions and lifestyle captured our hearts. The Albuquerque experience is wrapped up in four distinct & truly wonderful seasons ... all of which are stunning.

There are a variety of things to do in Albuquerque. Whether we were visiting one of the 14 beautiful golf courses & spas, taking a hot-air balloon flight over the scenic Rio Grande Valley, hiking among dormant volcanoes, horseback riding along the river, strolling through Old Town & Nob Hill to visit the many eclectic shops, being drawn into the amazing Art Galleries or visiting one of the local wineries to taste the grape! We found that Albuquerque offers a real breath of fresh air with a fantastic climate & warm wonderful people.

Albuquerque, the largest city in New Mexico, is packed with activities, cultural attractions and distinctive sightseeing opportunities & plenty of people watching too ;).

There was so much to do ... we stayed!

It is Our Primary Goal to make sure you Feel at Home & Have an Amazing Vacation Experience ... not just a trip!!

We would love to share our knowledge of this Amazing City & We have Tons of Tips for Santa Fe too ... Come Enjoy The Land Of Enchantment & Our Beautiful Retreat!!

At Casa de Encantador - For some it is the peacefulness, for others the proximity to Old Town/Downtown. Most will mention the perfect weather, four distinct seasons without harsh extremes.

But almost everyone's answer will include something about the SW charm!

What makes this house unique

Know we have said it ... But is so Very CHARMING!

We are also very central to everything & minutes from The Bosque, Hiking Trails, Dog Parks, Downtown, Old Town, Nob Hill, The Zoo, Museums, Golf, Spa & Several Wineries!!

The best lodging experience of my life

  • 5 of 5

This lovely home is well located, not only for being the center of everything but also because our trolley tour went through this neighborhood calling it one of the best neighborhoods in Albuquerque. The decor made our Albuquerque experience immersive from the beginning. There's dozens (hundreds?) of food, recipe, local attractions magazines beautifully splayed on the buffet. The dining room chandelier is pretty much the same diameter as the dining table, making for a "WOW" on the walk through. The two main bedrooms are king. The hall bath has a Talavera sink. The living room has soaring ceilings with huge beams. The kitchen has concrete countertops, another wow. I cannot think of a single device a cook would need that is not in that kitchen. Plenty of spices and staples too. The decor throughout is high end Mexican. No cheesy sombreros or Maracas adorn the walls,, just tasteful art and a few graphic pieces like barn board painted arrows,. I kept trying to turn off lights in the daytime, finally realizing the place is flooded with natural light through sky lights.

Not only is the place magnificent so are the landlords. Nicolle and Robert are hugely responsive. I was tired upon arrival and could not get the key to fit. They left their dinner in mid-chew and rushed over to make things right.

This was a mother daughter retreat extended weekend, The home set the stage for an unforgettable experience.

Cozy home away from home

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful property. A lot of time and attention went into making this home a comfortable get away retreat. The decor is so nicely done and the property owners really go out of their way to make sure you enjoy yourself and have all you need. This property is also conveniently located to old town and the local micro breweries.

This was a short stay for us - but we really enjoyed the house and would without question come back. This is a great place to stay !

this is what all vacation rentals should be like

  • 5 of 5

I've had horrible rental experiences and pretty darn delightful rental experiences. I'd say this one was the best of all. I would recommend this rental home to anyone at all, and be perfectly certain they would love it.

The house is in a great area. Just outside the country club neighborhood, close to Old Town, downtown, the freeway, Lead and Coal (one-way streets that move more quickly than the other stop and go streets).

The house is furnished to the teeth with art and really nice furniture. No one is trying to make a quick buck here by putting in some crappy Kmart table that will rock and sway while you try to eat. This stuff is solid and beautiful.

The furnishings and art highlight pretty much everything you would expect from Albuquerque - all kinds of Southwestern influence, and clearly all local stuff. The only thing it doesn't have that kinda surprised me was a lot of balloon stuff (though that is not at all a bad thing). The house is just filled with beautiful things, and it's a lot of fun to look at throughout your stay.

The kitchen is fully - and I mean FULLY - stocked, with all the dishes you may need, and quite a few staples. You'll have to buy your own food, of course, but the basics are there, so if you want to cook you won't need to buy olive oil or salt, stuff like that. Plenty of utensils, pots, pans, glasses, knives, dishtowels, hotbeds, even BBQ tools. Great dishwasher, beautiful concrete cupboards (which I LOVED), and plenty of space. A Keurig and regular coffee pot, and all kinds of other fun stuff - you will not miss anything you might have at home.

The entire house is stocked with stuff you might forget: toothbrushes, toothpaste, Qtips, pantyhose, sunscreen, nail files, even Pepto-Bismol. The only thing I couldn't find that I wanted was mousse or other styling products for hair, but really, so many other things that you just forget at home, and it was great to know they were there. Very impressed with their level of caring about making you feel at home.

The bedrooms are gorgeous and homey - everything was very comfortable and we felt like were visiting a friend rather than renting.

The backyard is fantastic - we barbecued and had a fire in the pit, and it was all extremely wonderful.

The "rules binder" is a bit off-putting at first, but if you really look through it, it's pretty common sense stuff and a few specific instructions.

Excellent hosts, amazing home, and a delightful stay. This is my new go-to rental.
