The villas open floor plan design on three levels is not suitable for small children or toddlers.smoking is permitted outside and very small pets are allowed.
My husband and I fell in love with Holbox and the people the moment we set foot . You can say it was love at first sight .We kept going every time we had the chance and in 2014 we decided to buy Casa solymar and make it Our home away from home.
Zohreh Shayesteh purchased this bungalow in 2014
Location, proximity to amenities, friendly neighbors, magnificent views make this unique house a perfect getaway destination.
fully furnished, TV and DVD player. Internet.located on the beach and two blocks away from the center of the village.
Our family of 5, including 3 teenage boys, stayed here in April for 3 nights. The house was perfectly designed for guests to drift from its open concept area to private spaces. There is plenty of opportunity to enjoy the outside views with its hammocks on the ground floor, a second floor balcony looking over ocean adjoined to loft bedroom, and a third floor patio with/or without cover. The constant ocean breeze gave us continuous relief on every level of house. The waves created enough sound that we were not bothered by town noise. There was a small, laid back beach restaurant adjacent to the house that sold good guacamole, ceviche, tacos and drinks.
It's only a 5-10 minute walk to town where there is an abundance of restaurants, bars and music. This is one of the only beach-side rental houses with this proximity to town. No need for a golf cart - we rented a few bikes.
So glad we chose to spread out here instead of a room in the hotel zone. I would recommend it to families with older children ( I agree with the owner that the stairs are not suitable for young children).
Spent 6 days on Holbox and it was totally relaxing. The water was calm and beautiful. We explored on foot and on bike and enjoyed delicious food. Marco handled all our transportation details from the airport and it was seamless. He gave recommendations to many restaurants that did not disappoint. Look forward to our next trip back!
We had a great experience at solimar ! The home was well appointed as well as in the best possible location if you like being in the thick of things. You could not be more centrally located. We had two very noisy nights so if you are traveling with little kids , keep that in mind. We were well taken care of by the owner and care taker. This is a great place to stay in Holbox !
This is a house with a 5 star first floor and bedroom. Unfortunatly the second floor "bedroom" is just a bed in a loft with no privacy from the first floor. If you sleep in the buff or aren't into public intimacy you have to wait until the other guests are in for the night. We loved the 1stt floor, the location, the porch but sadly we were on the 2nd floor and that ruined the experiance for us. My wife and I have been traveling Yucatan every year for over 25 years...Isla Mujeras, Xcalak, Celestune, Merida and this is the first time our room spoiled the trip.
I fished with Alajandro..Sr. Sandflea again and as always caught lots of tarpon. The food on Holbox is great...try Viva Zapata. This was our 4th trip to Holbox and would love to stay at this house again...on the first floor. It is a gem but I wouldnt ask friends to stay on the 2nd. And beware of the flimsy banister on the spiral staircase. So sorry I couldnt give this 5 plus stars but not as a two bedroom house as it appeared in the photos.
We loved this house just as much as we loved the island. It's in the perfect location and ideal for two couples traveling together. You'll definitely want to pack bug spray and try to change your currency before you get to the island since the ATM on the island was down while we were there.
Thank you to the owner and their wonderful property manager, Marco!
We had a great time spending Christmas on Holbox. The owner helped to arrange our transfers from Cancun and everything worked out perfectly, the house had everything that was needed and was clean and well maintained and the location was wonderful. Restaurants are plentiful and in easy walking distance and there was no need for us to cook at all even though the kitchen was fully equipped.
Holbox can be a bit noisy during Christmas time as we learned but the noise due to loud music is something that all of Holbox will have to put up with unless you are situated at the very outskirts. However, bringing a set of ear plugs is a good idea. The mosquitoes can also be ferocious on the island and it's worth bringing a good repellent. The house has screens throughout and if you close the doors hardly any mosquitoes comes in, however a mosquito net over the bed would perhaps be a good addition.
As the owner points out in the description, this house is not for toddlers or small children. Our personal view would be that children should definitely be above the age of six to make sure they are mature enough to go up and down the stairs and not try crazy things on the balcony.
We would definitely recommend this property and rent it again should we come back to Holbox in the future.
the newly renovated house is conveniently located on the beach and yet you are a short walk away from all the necessary amenities .

The house is not suitable for families with toddlers and small children due to high stairs. Very small dogs are permitted but can not sleep on the beds or the couch.
