Simon manages to offer a beautiful one bedroom condo with two "real" ocean view balconies for less than the Crocs charges for a junior suite ocean view room with a sliding glass door that the Crocs passes off as a balcony. The condo has a full kitchen and laundry facilities. A Crocs room does not. The condo was fabulous. We purchases some food at the local grocery an we were good to go. Plenty of space, two bathrooms, tub and shower, two balconies, eleventh floor. As for the Crocs: the day-to-day staff is great. The two bars offer good food for reasonable value as actually does the coffee shop as well. The Parsley & Pepper restaurant has good breakfasts for reasonable prices. Parsley & Pepper for other meals is a bit over priced for food that is not too special, but it works in a pinch. I do not recommend Adacus - overpriced for simply okay food. There are plenty of great places in town to eat. Everyone loved Tsunami Sushi and Lemon Zest. If you are willing to drive and pay a little (the same prices as Adacus, forty minute drive) - Alma del Pacifico in Esterillos is amazing. Go at lunch because the restaurant is on the beach and you don't want to miss the views.
A couple of notes: this is a condo, not a hotel room. Their is no maid service unless requested (and the Crocs will charge). Towel exchange is complimentary. The free breakfast does not apply to condo guests. Expect about $8-$10 per breakfast. Room service is available - but the best food is at the bars (not available for room service) so on a couple of occasions I went down and picked up.
Crocs management leaves a lot to be desired. I had a bizarre billing dispute because they were some how confused b/c I paid Simon ahead of time through VRBO. Apparently the condo can be rented through the front desk, but the price is not competitive with the price Simon offers on VRBO. Simon stepped in and presumably chastised the appropriate people and we eventually sorted it out. Just be aware that you are in Costa Rica and billing disputes are common, not just with Crocs. The restaurants are notorious for processing a different amount than is on the receipt. Be prepared with a good credit card or simply choose to pay cash.
My wife and I just returned from a month stay (mid Feb to mid March) at Simon and Paula's Condo on 11th floor of Croc's Casino in Jaco, Costa Rica. This was a month like no other we have experienced - there is nothing like enjoying the most relaxing vacation ever in Costa Rica. We have stayed in multiple places in Costa Rica including The Marriott at Los Suenos and The Four Seasons in Playa Conchal - however Croc's is by far our favorite destination. The ocean breeze, sounds of the waves on the surf and panoramic Pacific Ocean views are unmatched. This was our third trip to Crocs in less than a year including an amazing 10 day vacation during New Years celebration. Do not miss the New Years fireworks display!
The Condo at less than a year old was immaculate - it is located on the 11th floor of Crocs with an incredible view of the Pacific Ocean and overlooking the famous Croc's pool - the two balconies attached to the Condo make watching sunsets a magical experience. I think we only missed 4 sunsets during our month stay. The Condo was complete with beautiful furnishings, modern flat screen large TVs, fully equipped kitchen - with everything you could possibly need. The master bath was large and equipped with dual sinks, shower and separate bath tub.The master bedroom was roomy, the mattress was comfortable and the sliding glass door opened to a full size balcony. We awoke to a beautiful ocean view from our bed. Most mornings we had our breakfast and coffee on the balcony watching the Sport Fishing fleet headed out for a day of fishing.
Our major goal was to relax - we did that beyond our expectations with daily trips to the most beautiful pool in Costa Rica. At the pool the servers are amazing - especially our favorite server Nela who knew exactly what we wanted each day when we arrived.
Some of the things we experienced included:
- Multiple fishing trips with double digit catch and release sailfish
- A catamaran day trip to Isla de Tortuga
- Several afternoon trips to watch the sunsets from Villa Coletas Mountain Top Hotel
- Whitewater rafting trip near Quepos
- Massages at the Crocs Spa and other Spas scattered throughout Jaco
- Workouts at the Crocs Fitness Center
- Daily 4 mile walks on the beach
Overall we could not have been more satisfied with the trip. The condo was perfect in every way. The owners Simon and Paula are wonderful people. We can not wait until our return.

This was our second trip to Croc's in a year. We are a couple with a 12 year old son. Last year we stayed in a mountain view hotel room right after opening and this year we found Simon's beautiful condo with TWO balconies overlooking the Pacific. It was truly our home away from home and had absolutely everything you needed at a great place with a fantastic view. TV, wifi, full kitchen, a/c (we live in Florida and love it hot but Costa Rica in March is HOT), washer/dryer, beautiful location! We used the great full kitchen to make some meals and save some money by visiting the local grocery store.
Simon, the owner, is extremely easy to talk too and an asset to homeaway.com. Thank You!
Thank you for allowing us to rent your beautiful condo and enjoy your balconies! Croc's is a beautiful resort and I saw many of the same great people there working from last year that remembered us and the service impeccable. I just need to learn how to actually "leave" the casino when I am winning but that's another issue.
Croc's has a small by Las Vegas standards but true real nice clean nonsmoking casino, (do not gamble at Cocal!!). We love blackjack and they have an awesome single deck $5 hand game that's legit and multi deck shoe game, craps, roulette, slots .. And other tables. It's a family and fun resort that offers a great casino if you choose to participate.
Also the small gift shop inside with drinks and snacks are actually less expensive than at the grocery which is nice and another reason we love Croc's and glad we found this condo on here.
Beautiful condo, great ocean view. Crocus a fun place, hotel very nice and they look after their guests. Overall, great vacation.
Playa Jaco & the Central Pacific Coast of Costa Rica:
One of the most developed towns on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast and NOW COSTA RICA'S FASTEST GROWING BEACH TOWN, Playa Jaco (pronounced “Haco”) has many conveniences that for most of us, we can’t live without! These little conveniences include a wide variety of restaurants, night life, beach bars, shopping, large grocery stores, emergency medical services, pharmacies, new medical clinic with X-rays and Blood Laboratory, post office, and hotels. There are dozens of outdoor activities and adventures to fill your days or reserve the lounge chair by the pool where you’ll sip cool tropical cocktails and dream the day away. You can enjoy Zip lining, horse back riding, surf lessons, white water rafting, sports fishing, kayaking, hiking, bungee jumping and
much, much, more . . .
You will reach Playa Jaco via a 1 hour 10 minute scenic drive from the International Airport in San Jose, on the newly completed Auto Pisto del Sol highway. This has further boosted Jaco’s popularity as it is the closest beach (town) to San Jose with easy access for weekend visitors or the future commuters.
The Central Pacific has fantastic infrastructure with good roads, quick access to quality medical care, green tropical forest year round, and proximity to the largest city in Costa Rica. Jaco also boasts beautiful cinnamon beaches with fantastic waves for the surf enthusiasts!
Los Suenos Resort and Marina:
Also 5 minutes from Jaco is Costa Rica's premier resort, Los Suenos Resort and Marina. Los Suenos means “The dream” and these American developers have created a little bit of magic in the tiny “Switzerland of Central America”. This resort has beautiful amenities found within the gates which are open to the public to use and enjoy. It hosts a World Class 220 slip International Marina, a championship 18 hole Golf Course, 6 restaurants, Café, Spa, Gym and Casino and many more attractions.
