About The Owner

We have retired to the mountains of North Carolina and, Trust Us, we only live in beautiful places. We live in this area and think we have found Paradise in our charming town of Murphy. We came to visit and vacation here and just had to stay. Our home is pet friendly for we have two golden retrievers (THE GOLDEN GIRLS) that are the loves of our lifes. I am sure if you travel with your pets, they are also your children. Our 5 grandchildren think this is the best place in the world and we agree. It is so centrally located and after 12 years we are still exploring and finding new adventures. My husband's advocation is photography and he has enjoyed photographing all the wonders of nature in the area. Some of his photos are in the home. He won lst place in the GA Mountain Fair several years ago and won 2nd place last year. The fair is in July and is an adventure not to be missed if you are here. Fun for the entire family in Hiawassee GA.

The Owner purchased this chateau / country house in 2010

Why The Owner chose Murphy / Andrews Area

We came to visit here in 1997 and we fell in love. The next visit we found ourselves buying property and building a house here. What we love the most is the ever changing nature around us. We are always mesmerized by the sound of water and when we found this wonderful new home on a rushing creek we decided to buy it to share our piece of paradise in Murphy with others to enjoy. My husband said that the mountains are in my Scottish/Irish DNA and I would have to agree. As the saying goes 'You are nearer to GOD in the mountains than any other place on earth.'

What makes this chateau / country house unique

The small town feeling where everybody waves and the deep history in this area is fascinating. The area where this home is located is where the last battle of the Civil War was fought on May 6th, 1865. This was an Indian Reservation and the Trail of Tears history can be found at our local museum. The folklore is long and interesting. All you have to do is ask and listen. A free performance every Friday night in the open air pavilion at John C Campbell folk school should not be missed. About a mile from the property is a monument to a Forge that was located here in 1839.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Barry, Your lovely follow up note is as nice as your little paradise by the Rushing Creek! We enjoyed a tranquil and significantly cooler month of August at your cabin by the Creek. In fact, we fell in love with the whole area, and bought a small house just east of Murphy! Last night we gave our neighbors the vrbo info so that they can contact you for their own getaway needs. Thanks for everything, Jim and Jeanne

Best cabin

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is well secluded, creek scenery in the back of the house and spacious, mountain-view in front. My family (3 adults and 3 kids) and our dog loved it sooo much. It was very relaxing and we enjoyed every single day of our stay here. Alot of board games to play, we never played board games before as much as we did there. I really recommend it. Thank you Debbie for this well-maintained cabin. My only problem is that the wi-fi is way below slow but other than that, everything is perfect!

The home was beautifully furnished, all the amenities you could need and more. The back yard was gorgeous with the rushing creek, so private and peaceful. Debbie was so helpful from the first contact and all through our stay! Great place to spend our 25th anniversary!

Very Nice Property

  • 4 of 5

The family had a great time at the property. As far as reviews go I put both pro's and cons.

The pro's:

The cabin is very clean and neat (that's a big deal for my wife). She was very impressed how clean and tastefully decorated it was.

Great level lot, we brought our corn hole game and had no problem finding a spot to put it.

Very close to rushing creek. Loved the sounds right outside the window.

Kids (and adults) loved playing in the creek.

Property pretty much stocked with every amenity you need.

Definitely on the list as a place we would enjoy coming back too.

My kids said it was one of the "best vacations ever" so any of my cons are negated.

Like many properties its hard to tell from the pictures how close the neighbors are. This one has other homes on each side and across the street. A couple are full time residents.

The homes on each side are probably around 25yds from each other.

I enjoy trout fishing and attempted a couple of times to go but there are many No Trespassing signs posted as I walked down the creek. I know the creek is public but I wasn't comfortable fishing in someones backyard with signs posted all around me. Luckily the kids were having enough fun that not going fishing didn't spoil anything for me.

Overall, the neighbors were rarely seen so it felt like we had the place to ourselves most of the time.

Rushing Creek Cabin

  • 5 of 5

Great cabin for our family. Listening to the rushing water was awesome. Loved all the extras provided such as; jars to catch lightning bugs, large grilling forks, tubes for creek and panning gold screens. Plus games galore! Paved road to cabin is a plus. Very clean and cozy cabin. Thanks for helping us make some delightful memories.

Great cabin! Good location with a charming little town. The cabin is clean and has all most everything you need for a comfortable stay. Only suggestions is if you have a large group to bring some big pots.
