Chutti's Villa: Salli beach front house

Photos and Description of this Trincomalee holiday villa

Villa in Sampaltivu, 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, sleeps 2

About This Listing

Your own little beach front house in hidden Salli. Swim, walk, chill, enjoy.

Price is for the whole cabin for two guests. An extra bed can be used for a third guest for a small extra charge.

The Space

Built as the house for guests next to the big family house, this accommodation is all you could wish for during your stay. Fifty meters from the beach and coral reef, spacious, comfy and with its own little veranda, you'll have lots of privacy and room to do your thing. The big washroom with hot and cold water, in combination with the double bed, makes for a nice stay for two. An extra (single) bed can be used for a third guest, for a small surplus charge. There's no kitchen or airconditioning in the cabin.

Interaction with Guests

Chutti (in the picture) and his family are your hosts here. Like so many of our hosts, these are not the slick, flawless tourism professionals you'll find in Nilaveli or Uppuveli: these are real people, providing real hospitality as they would to any of their other guests. Yes, occasionally you'll get lost in translation, but the solution is always just a game of charades away. Be assured that Chutti will try his very best to accommodate you. Chutti's wife makes great meals, Chutti's brother Lenus can drive you around in his van and if you're lucky you'll meet one of the calves or lazy dogs in the garden.

The Neighborhood

Anyone who goes to Trincomalee (a.k.a. Trinco) knows about beach towns Uppuveli and Nilaveli, but people seldom come to Salli, which lies right between its bigger, busier brothers. Its Southern frontier is the chest-deep stream above the fancy Chaaya Blue in Uppuveli and to the North it's just a huge stretch of beach with a coral reef in front of it. The coral starts right at the beach and makes swimming a bit more adventurous, which probably explains why Salli's so quiet. Nicely quiet. Unspoilt. Gorgeous.

The villa is nice and clean and has a beautiful panorama on the beach, but if you want to swim you have to walk on the right side among the rubbish, after that you reach a wonderful and long desert beach. The owner and his family are nice, but he does not speak english at all and, as the villa is in a little fishermen village, this has created some difficulties. You cannot have any advises or opinions on where to go. I found it difficult to get in contact with them and with life here. The food was good but not so cheap as I expected in a homestay.
