Overview

Photos and Description of this County Kerry holiday house

Luxurious modern family holiday home, 4 bed-3 en-suite, very private.

Nestled on an elevated site this idyllic detached house lies just 1.5 miles from the heart of Waterville with its shops, pubs and first class restaurants to choose from. Newly built, spacious, comfortable and furnished to a very high standard, it has been well designed to take advantage of the views of the amazing countryside and the wonderful Lough Currane which is world famous for its salmon and trout fishing. Waterville has two golf courses, one within a mile, the other a world ranked championship golf course approximately two miles. There is a beach and walkway stretching along the front of the village. Sandy beaches, national park and historic house at Derrynane are about 15mins drive.

Sheltered patio area, garden furniture ample parking spaces, sitting room with large tv, sky plus+, dvd, welcoming open fire for those cosy nights in. Kitchen cum dining room with double oven, fridge, freezer, dish washer, microwave, washing machine, tumble drier and central hover system.

Hillwalking: This is a good area for walkers as there are 2 sections of the Kerry Way walking route or for the more energetic, the majestic mountains in the surrounding area.

Waterville: Waterville is situated in the heart of Ireland's most spectacular beautiful area, The Ring of Kerry.

It is famous for its world ranked golf course, its trout and salmon angling and its golden sandy beaches. Waterville lies on a narrow strip of land between the Athlantic and Lough Currane. Waterville and its surrounding area offers a number of breathtaking walks and places to see. The most scenic of these walks is the Coomakista Pass.

Waterville village has many fine restaurants, pubs, shops, craft stores, post office, garage, internet cafés and coffee shops. The village has attracted many famous celebrities over the years, Charlie Chaplin, Tiger Woods, Payne Stewart, Mark O'Meara.......to name but a few.

There are the most astounding views from this elevated site and sitting out will be a real pleasure. Quiet and in a peaceful, relaxed area, there is the added bonus of travelling and touring just a mile down the road, where you can go into Waterville for water activities, including sea fishing, sailing, swimming and safe beaches. Golfing and a lovely selection of pubs and restaurants are awaiting in the town that is famous for its links with Charlie Chaplin.

There is something for everyone: the craft market, the heritage site of the Skellig Islands and the main Ring of Kerry route leading to Killarney, and the idyllic scenery. This is a base for a holiday of memories and one where one visit will not be enough.

Water ville Golf Links is ranked in the Worlds top 20 and Ireland top 5 Links courses. Links Land is a rarity and less than one percent of courses in both Ireland and the British Isles are championship Links. Water ville is one of these blessed places hence it regularly attracts the Worlds top golfers who test their mettle here. Golf at Water ville is a mystical experience - the beauty of classic links land, surrounded by the sea, yet forever changed and by the elements. At over 100 years old it is ranked as one of the top 5 courses in Ireland and the top 20 Links courses in the World. Links Golf combines sand dunes gorse and native grasses, firm fairways, sod faced bunkers and subtle putting surfaces all intertwined by the ever changing weather. Forget the lob wedge. Think bump and run creative shot making. Are you ready to are walk in the footsteps of the earliest golfers. http://www.watervillegolfclub.ie/

Skellig Bay Golf Course

Overlooking the magistic Ballinskelligs Bay and set among natural megalithic stonework and indigenous Bog Deal, there can be few places more visually stunning locations for a golf course than Skellig Bay Water ville,.

Here the awesome beauty of the Bay hits you as you play through holes framed by over 8000 yards of ancient 'famine' walls.'Skellig Bay is full of challenging golf holes', says the the Sunday Independent Golf correspondent Dermot Gillee

One month in a paradise of peace and quiet .

  • 5 of 5

The property was ideal for us, it is very well equipped, location is ideal at 5 minutes from Waterville, the view from the house is WOW!!

We stay all september 2016 in the house and everything was perfect.

Our host Kathleen is very nice and easy to communicate with.We had no issue with the house , the fireplace was perfect and the kitchen has everything one need just like home.

There is very good trecking in the Kerryway nearby with fantastic view along sheep path in the surrounding mountains. There are a lot of golf course in an hour from the house . Ideally located to visit the ring of Kerry and the Dingle Peninsula. The house is at 41/2hours to Dublin if you like to see the book of Kells and some great museum.

The property and surrounding are better in real than the photos!

Highly recommended, do not hesitate, it is a first class property.

Wonderful

  • 5 of 5

This house was everything we had hoped it would be; well equipped, spacious and well away from the hustle and bustle. The house is situated off a quiet road, with fantastic views across the lake. The house was very clean and tidy and is huge - there's even a play room for the children. Plenty of parking for several cars. The owners were very helpful and had even baked a Bakewell Tart for our arrival - a lovely touch. We were in a group with three young children, and so walking into Waterville itself was not an option for us. However, parking in Waterville is free and we had no problem finding a space. We will be returning.

Things we did:-

Hired a boat from the B&B that's just a short walk away - 55 Euro for the day and we were able to explore the lake. We moored up on Church Island and had a picnic.

Visited Derrynane beach - great blue flag beach with lifeguard. Gently sloping, sandy beach with free parking. A short walk away is Derrynane House with lovely gardens and a reasonably priced cafe.

Drove around the Skellig RIng - stopped off at the chocolate factory (which wasn't as impressive as we thought it would be, but nice chocolate). Parked up at the cliffs and had a walk up the mountain to view the Skelligs.

Went horse riding at Kerry Equestrian Centre - would highly recommend this place if you fancy a trek. Lovely people. We are not riders, and were given a short lesson and then a trek. Total time just over an hour, cost 35 Euro per adult, 25 Euro per child.

Some nice cafes and pubs at Cahersiveen. Also a supermarket here, though there are a couple of smaller ones in Waterville too.

Nice beach off the R567 near Annaghkeenty, but be careful where you go into the water if you want to swim here. We pretty much had the whole thing to ourselves and had great fun flying kites.

Walked along part of the Kerry Way - fantastic landscapes.

We visited The Lobster in Waterville for lunch and were not particularly impressed. Its a bit of a school canteen but food was adequate. I understand that their evening meals are better but we did not try.

Our Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

There are no words to describe the overwhelming beauty you wake up too each morning when looking out the window of this home. It was a disappointing moment when my family knew next day we would have to travel back home to Georgia. We had not a single criticism other than it is a little difficult to find the home when arriving for the 1st time. The home has all the benefits of modern living, but delivers on the Irish experience. If we could return each year, there would be no reason to consider other properties. If there were 6 Stars, we'd give it 6 Stars. As I type this review all I can think about is how we return....quickly!

Fantastic House with everything you will need

  • 5 of 5

This house is fantastic and the views overlooking the lake from the front of the house are amazing , the photos on the internet do not do it justice. We were a party of 7 and the house was huge more than adequate for all of us. The kitchen is well equipped and has everything you need to allow you to cook in. The location is great and we were able to explore the area easily. We had a great time and would highly recommend the property. Hopefully we will be back in the near future.

Wunderschönes Ferienhaus

  • 5 of 5
