About this property

In Roussillon Village a private home with a small basin and a fantastic view

The Villa Rouge is located in the heart of the village, right next to the Main square and the many restaurants and cafés, galleries and shops. Everything you need is just a short-walk away : the bakery, butcher, supermarket, tobacco store, post-office, doctor and chemist’s store. Luberon offers you the best of Provence : a sweet climate, many cultural sites to visit, as well as an authentic nature, delicious local products, and a craftsmanship to discover.
The Villa was built in 1849, in the typical architecture of Luberon. Perched on the hill-top, you’ll benefit from an exceptional panoramic view on the Mont Ventoux, the famous mountain in the French artist Paul Cezanne’s paintings, as well as on the plateau of Vaucluse, the ochre quarries and surrounding vineyards.
Its decor, inspired by Provençal style, is authentic and sophisticated, and offers great comfort. The villa has 3 rooms, one of them a Suite. Each room has a bathroom (a shower for both rooms and a bathtub for the Suite). The vast lounge of 60m² is very bright and perfect to relax in. You can browse through the books put at your disposal. There is WIFI connection, Apple TV, Sonos system for your device to play music, games and books.
The house revolves around its “cathedral” kitchen, fully equipped. Located on the ground floor, it has an incredible view on the surroundings. You can welcome there a dozen of guests, and make of it the highlight of your culinary and wine delights.
Outside, there is a big patio, decorated with flowers and plants. Two pergolas allow you to have lunch or rest in the shade. You can also cool in the stone pool, warmed if necessary for a supplemental fee (4m x 4m). It is equipped with an alarm.
You may have at your disposal a garage to park one car. You have a laundry with a washing machine, a dryer and a washing line.
The house offers the perfect combination to guarantee you an unforgettable stay in the Luberon : a perfect location in a mythical village.

The most magnificent stay you will ever have
I am convinced this rustic, warm, charming apartment is one of our best rentals in the Provence. Having stayed many places in the area, this so apartment is by far my favourite to date. While Roussillon can be busy and the location is central, the apartment is quiet, tucked away from the noise of tourists and a quiet retreat. The ultimate way to feel a part of a french village, but still have privacy.

Wonderful house that needs some fixes
Wonderful, spacious house with lots of room and a large kitchen/dining room and living room. We appreciated the games and kids books, the comfortable beds and great communication with the property managers. Ideal location with a 2 minute walk into town and short drives to other villages. However, the house obviously needs investments in plumbing upgrades. One toilet wasn't working the day after we arrived & another stopped working the day before we left. Water leaked from a bathroom faucet around a sink that needed caulking, onto the shelf below. The kitchen faucet also needed some fixing. The garage door has no sensor & started to close on the car being parked. In spite of these frustrations, we really enjoyed our stay. Rousillon is lovely & the nearby Ochre trail hike stunning,

Great location! Great accommodation!
Charming, spacious, well furnished authentic villa built in 1849 with just the right amount of updates to still retain it’s character; ample space inside and outside for entertaining and hanging out with friends or family. Great location just steps from restaurants, boulangerie, well-stocked grocery store.

Beautiful stay in the French countryside
Our stay could not have been better! The property was clean, well equipped and suited our needs perfectly. The most pleasing thing is that the property truly was “as advertised”. The description of the property, location and photos do not do it justice. The owner and property managers were wonderful to work with. I cannot recommend this property more highly! Thank you so much!

Très bon séjour
Maison très bien placée en centre-ville et en même temps totalement au calme. Une vue superbe et une terrasse très agréable autour de la petite piscine.

Why they chose this property

The village of Roussillon is one of the most beautiful of France and the second most visited in the Luberon after the village of Gordes. With its festival of ochre colors and hill-top position, it is one of Provence’s jewels. It is hard to depict the true splendor of Roussillon. 17 shades of ochre paint the village’s houses. Imagine the amazing contrast with the green pines, blue sky and red cliffs… Roussillon, with its history, vineyards and unique location, is the French savoir-vivre at its best. In the region of Provence, between the mountains of the Luberon and the Vaucluse, Roussillon sparkles with ochred light. Discover this unique mineral treasure of surprising blazing colors, right in the heart of the world’s most important ochre deposit.

What makes this property unique

To visit : the XIth century parochial church Saint Michel, the tower of the ancient ramparts, with a gothic passage and XIXth century bell tower, Saint Jean castle, the mill, the Ochre and Applied Pigments Conservatory located in a former ochre manufacture.
