The Lodge is typically furnished to sleep 22, though it can be cozy for fewer, or extra beds can be placed in the smaller of two gathering lounges to increase the capacity. There are two lounge areas, a huge kitchen and flexible eating area, a private, separate bedroom with full-size bed, three bunk rooms, two group bathrooms and one single bath. Front and back lawns and a patio offer plenty of outdoor space.
The Rancher's House was built around 1912, a sprawling version of the western bungalow, and refurbished and furnished for the owners' grandparents by WR Dallas Studios in 1951. The custom-designed furnishings are classic high-style mid-20th century Western: knotty pine, iron, pistols and horseshoes. The kitchen was renovated in 2012-2013 with built-in Thermador appliances, bungalow-style lighting, and cabinets designed to match the original. The house has a giant living room, 2 service bars, 4 eating areas, washer and dryer, 3 bedrooms, a sleeping porch, 2 full baths. The house opens to a fountain patio that accesses two apartments.
The Apartments each have bedrooms, sitting rooms with additional sleeping space. The downstairs apartment has 2 full beds, while the upstairs apartment has queen beds. Both have new bathrooms, microwave ovens, and micro-fridges. The upstairs apartment has a terrific view, claw-foot tub, vaulted ceilings and a sleeping loft. The downstairs apartment has tile floor and can accommodate guests with small dogs.
Bunkhouse Cabins are affordable and rustic, appealing to hikers, bicyclers, and others who love the outdoors. They're furnished with twin beds, baths and kitchens, and there's plenty of space for gear. Dogs are welcome for a modest fee.
The Gardener's Cottage is cozy and central to the headquarters. Its single bedroom has one full-size bed. The sitting room, which has a fold-out sofa, is open to the kitchen are opened via a large service window and bar. An antique claw-foot tub with shower adds atmosphere to the bathroom, which was remodeled in 2016. Well behaved canine guests are welcome in the Cottage.
Whether you want quiet and solitude, a leisurely visit with nature, or rigorous hiking, trail running, or bicycling, your time at the Y-Bar NAN Ranch will be fulfilling. We can confidently say that there is no comparable property, anywhere, that is so open to guests' personal visions for a fulfilling holiday from the outside world. Public parks and preserves are full of other adventurers, but the NAN is yours to share with only a handful of others, and there's so much space and variety you need never see another guest unless you wish to. Just as important to most of our guests is that this historical working ranch is neither resort nor "dude ranch": we don't "entertain" you, schedule you, or crowd you. You design your experience.
Though you're in one version of heaven just staying at the NAN Ranch, you're also close enough to make day trips to the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument, Gila National Forest, City of Rocks State Park, Silver City for fine dining and fine art shopping, La Esperanza Vineyard just up the road for wine and sunsets, and other interesting and sometimes quirky corners of our neighborhood.
