A great retreat!

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely time when we did a family retreat to this house. We were 5 adults, 1 child, and 2 dogs and the house was a perfect size for our group. I read some of the negative reviews and I don't think some understood that this is a farmhouse and things like mice and house issues happen. We smiled at some of the quirks of the house and Terry was also very helpful and accommodating.

Can somethings be updated? Absolutely. But I have things in my own house that need updating. I have been to 5 star hotels that have had issues. This is a 250 year old's going to be unique and you embrace it for what it is.

Some suggestions if you will visit the house: bring your own drinking water, make sure any food you bring is covered, watch that oven door as it drops pretty low. The real perk was the kitchen has all the basic needs to cook including a microwave, coffee maker, toaster, kettle as well as plenty of plates and silverware. They even had coffee already fact I think we left some Dunkin Donuts coffee I hope the next people get to enjoy it!

We went there for a family winter retreat and it was perfect for our needs. We did a lot of unplugging and played board games (there are games there to play), card games, and we did all the puzzles they had there. We walked with the dogs and enjoyed the open air and the silence. My daughter pulled a book off the shelf and started to read it. We admired the dollhouse upstairs. We were warm (it was January and had some sub-zero temps during our stay) and cozy and safe. There was enough room for us to be together when we wanted and enough private spaces to retreat as needed. It gave us the peace and relaxation we needed.

Very charming home. We enjoyed the privacy.

  • 5 of 5

Came with friends to just unplug and enjoy some quiet time. Met with the caretaker who was very accommodating and kind to us. He went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. The home was clean and had a charm we enjoyed. It was hard to leave. Cannot wait to book another stay! Thank you so much.

Too rustic

  • 2 of 5

Outside of the house is beautiful and picturesque, but the interior is a bit rustic and had mice. I'm sure some people might not mind this but we have young children and it was a poor fit for us.

Quiet and relaxing

  • 4 of 5

This was a nice quiet old farm house. Close to the local attractions and the lake, but far enough away from all the noise to really relax at the end of the day.
