About Jeff Gardner (Owner)

Jeff and Adrianne Gardner (Owners). Jeff grew up in Northern Vermont and has many ties to the Champlain Islands and the State. Adrianne grew up on the Southern California coast and fell in love with North Hero and Vermont on her first visit.

Jeff Gardner (Owner) purchased this house in 1992

Why Jeff Gardner (Owner) chose North Hero

Sitting on the shores of Lake Champlain, White Gables is a unique property because of its location, size, and proximity to the lake. The owners have used this property as a family vacation home since it was purchased.

What makes this house unique

The house is large enough to reasonably accommodate a group, but intimate enough to be comfortable for a few guests. There are fabulous hundreds-of-years old maple trees on the property, one with a swing that overlooks the lake. The breath-taking views include Lake Champlain, Butler Island, Mount Mansfield, and Saint Albans. There is a wonderful English garden in the front of the house.

Overall great property. Perfect for family getaways.

  • 5 of 5

We were 4 families with kids ranging from 8 to 2 years old. The house offered spaces for all of us, be it families, adults and children. It was very cozy and we all enjoyed every minute of our stay. Everything worked as advertised, beds were comfortable and all bathrooms were functional. Communication with Jeff was great. Very quick to respond and very clear instructions. We definitely recommend the property and hope to return in the summer or fall.

Thank you Jeff!

Great for large families

  • 5 of 5

This property was perfect for our large family of 6 adults with spouses and a few adult children now and then. The kitchen has everything! The place was clean. The grounds are beautiful. The beach is your typical rocky shale Lake Champlain beach but a nice long dock. It was a joy!

Fantastic Family Spot

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at the Lakefront Home on Lake Champlain. We brought canoes that we put in the water at the dock on the Lake and enjoyed the wonderful and peaceful environment as we paddled up North Hero. My 7 year old nephew caught over 20 fish in the couple of days he was there. He caught bass, crappies and perch right off the dock. The water was cool as there had been recent rains but we had generally nice weather and we all swam off the dock when the sun was out. The house had a wonderfully stocked kitchen with lots of spices and tools. We barbecued a three pound bass that I caught and cooked all of our meals there. Sitting around the big kitchen table with my nieces and nephews was a lot of fun. Most of the rooms had private baths which was nice for the older folks in the group. The attic became the favorite spot for the little ones who went up there to play games. Outside there is a big area where we all threw the football around. My three year old niece liked the swing in the front yard and sat there watching the lake. Our family plans future outings at the house as we all had a wonderful time.

Amazing views and relaxing atmosphere

  • 5 of 5

Nine of our family members gathered here for a week after a family reunion in NY. We just marveled at the house, the amenities, the views, lake access. Everything was perfect. Many are already missing it and talking of the next trip. We had no wants or needs that weren't satisfied with this property. We loved being able to have a small bouquet from the garden on the table all week. The kitchen is well equipped and the nearby markets are treasures. No complaints from this group of happy vacationers.

The house was a great venue for our family reunion.

  • 5 of 5

The house was a good place for our family reunion. It was very clean when we arrived, which was much appreciated! Seven of us stayed there, the rest joined us for the days activities. The kids enjoyed the paddle boat and the tandem bike, and we used the folding table/chairs and extra chairs, so we were happy to have them available to use. We loved the big square table in the kitchen area. The view out to the lake from the house is gorgeous! The bathrooms are tiny, but we managed. Originally we were going to have more people staying at the house. Fortunately, we didn't, as anyone staying in the two bedrooms upstairs that don't have showers (one with no bathroom at all) would have to walk into someone else's bedroom to use a bathroom/shower. A bedroom off the hallway that is accessible to those bedrooms would be much more convenient. But since we ended up not using those rooms after all, it wasn't an issue for us. But for the space we had, the house was a great value at $400/night. As I said earlier, the most important factor for us is how clean the house is, and it was super clean. We all had a fantastic weekend. Jeff, the owner, was easily reachable for questions and was very helpful. All in all, it was a great experience at the house, and I would recommend staying there!

Perfect for our family reunion!

  • 5 of 5

Jeff, the owner, said, "all you need to bring is coffee" and he was right. This house had everything and then some! The house is a lot larger than it appears in the pictures, it is clean and well cared for. Our group of ten adults and a 2 1/2 year old were very comfortable and happy!
