About Owner/property manager

We are native Californians, and have enjoyed the beauty of Southern California for many years. Living in San Diego, we have many options for recreation, but there is nothing like getting up in the mountains and seeing the natural beauty of 100+ year old oak trees, observing the wildlife, playing in the snow in winter, and enjoying the undeveloped, majestic beauty of the Palomar Mountain State Park and Cleveland National Forest. We love it here on Palomar Mountain.

Owner/property manager purchased this chateau / country house in 2011

Why Owner/property manager chose San Diego County

Palomar Vista Lodge was previously known as Celestial Gardens. A wonderful woman lived here and she had made every effort to enjoy and share with others the natural beauty of the property, including developing hiking trails, view points, and relaxing seating areas that showcased its wonderful character. We have tried to rekindle Colleen's spirit and vision for Palomar Vista Lodge, and our friends find it to be a true island in the sky, where your worries float away and your spirits are invigorated.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

We love the southern views, the large deck out back, the peace and quiet of a mountain home nestled amongst the trees, and the beauty of the wildlife we see on a daily basis. The home is large enough for multiple families, yet still feels comfortable and offers many options. Multiple decks, hammocks on the lawn and swinging from the oak trees, plenty of places to relax and unwind.

Great place for large family

  • 5 of 5

We held our family reunion here with about 14 adults and some small children. There was plenty of room for everyone. The second kitchen was a plus. Allowing us to have two ovens going for the big meals. Best part about the home is the outdoors, big deck, fire pit and so much land with no one close. The view off the deck was beautiful. We all enjoyed the 4 days together without all the distractions of places to go. We played lawn games and board games and ate all day long! Perfect way to spend a long weekend.

Very nice property

  • 3 of 5

Overall the property was very nice. We had some significant issues with plumbing and mice which caused some of the living area to be unavailable

Paradise in the mountains!

  • 5 of 5

Our family (from ages 6 to 85) gathered here for a reunion and we had a wonderful time! The home is clean, well-stocked with supplies and comfortable. Sumer was extremely easy to work with. He greeted us at our arrival and showed us all that we needed to know about the house. He even made an extra trip up to help us with a small issue and was cheerful to do it! The property was so beautiful that we spent most of our time outdoors enjoying the scenery and views from the deck. We loved the fire pit where we gathered each evening to sing and make s'mores, and the children and adults loved the hot tub. We did some star-gazing, too. There were plenty of things for the kids to explore around the ponds and property that kept them entertained. We took small day trips to the Palomar Observatory and Julian for some pie! This was truly a relaxing mountain paradise and we hope to return again someday.

Wonderful property!

  • 5 of 5

Our group of eleven (ages 14-60) enjoyed a week in April at the lodge. The house was great! The kitchen was well stocked; we ate almost all our meals there and did not lack for any kitchen items. The deck and hot tub were used daily by all - in the daytime, we enjoyed the view of the hills in the west and at night, the stars. The rec room was a big hit, we alternated between the pool table and the ping pong table and had a fierce ping pong tournament. The bedrooms were spacious and very comfortable. The only minor critique is that for a big group, there could be a few more comfortable chairs in the living room for evening gathering.

We enjoyed staying on the mountain (what a ride up and down!) and enjoyed the state park and the Palomar Observatory on several days. We ventured to Anza Borrego Dessert State Park 2 days for hikes that were fabulous. We also had a day in San Diego but equally enjoyed our days just relaxing up on the mountain. Thank you to Sumer and Michael!

Lovely Property!

  • 5 of 5

We had a family reunion here with 12 adults and 4 kids (ages 3 - 95) and it was absolutely perfect. The place is so peaceful and the view is spectacular. The sunset is absolutely breathtaking. The house is in great condition and Sumer (the property manager) is very helpful and responds quickly. There were more than enough blankets/towels and kitchen supplies. We utilized the game room, fire pit and jacuzzi to the fullest. We had a great time and will definitely be back. We also missed this place so much after we came back.

Our stay at the Palomar Mountain Lodge

  • 5 of 5

Every year, the Mt. San Antonio College Speech and Debate Team takes a group of students to a location where we can research, write, and edit speeches. This location was perfect for us. The property owner was always available if we needed anything, and the location was clean and beautiful. The house met our needs, and we definitely plan to return.
