Why Mike and Katri Welford chose Lucedale

This land was connected to family owned land and it was our dream to watch our children grow up much like we were raised; in the countryside enjoying all that nature and family could provide. Nowhere around offers such views and sunsets. The lake brings a peace and solitude to the soul and the surrounding woodland provides glimpses of wildlife and sounds of nature not often found in our busy lives.

This property is connected to family owned land which was homesteaded in 1896. The house was built in 1994, the lake was completed and stocked in 2004 and the cabin in 2006.

What makes this cabin unique

Front porch swing, fire-pit by the lake, boat dock, bbq grill.

Trophy bass-fishing on DreamStrike Lake. FISHING FEES ARE SEPARATE FROM CABIN RENTAL. The 184 acre property has the Lake house (VRBO property # 1235574) and this cabin, which is on the opposite side of the lake. It is also hosts bass fishing enthusiasts and can accommodate up to 6 boats per day. Call Mike at 601-508-4707 to reserve a spot on the calendar.

Cozy cabin with a great view

  • 5 of 5

Spent two nights, and would do it again. Local eatery nearby, Rocky Creek Catfish Cottage, is all you’ll need for your stay. If you want to get away from the everyday rundown, this is the place to stay.

Everything was perfect, exactly what I needed.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was perfect, peaceful and quiet. A beautiful sunrise over the lake. I also had no issues with any bugs, mainly mosquitos even at night. I will be returning again soon.

Disappointed in the fishing. I thought it was a private lake but it’s a pay lake

Hidden costs for fishing, and VRBO costs are misleading when you see cost per night

Doubt I will do vrbo again nor would I recommend it

Owner of place was nice but that was only good part of this trip

Not As Advertised

  • 2 of 5

Was impressed when I first arrived. Nice cabin and nice location. However, this leads you to believe that this lake is private. It's far from that. Woke up early to start fishing and there was 10 to 12 bass boats in the lake fishing. There was also a big deep sea boat. The lake is not close to big enough to support all of this and it mentions nothing about it in the advertisement. No way to enjoy fishing like this. So, my wife and I bring chairs to the pier to sit and visit. Almost impossible because of a large group of people in the house across the lake yelling and screaming and a dog that never stopped barking. This is more like a public fishing lake with a cabin on it. Not as advertised.

Owner's Response: Thank you, Joseph, for your review. Mike and I take the guest comments to heart and we will make some changes based upon your experience. Our land is private and secluded. It is on 182 acres of private property. We are not trying to deceive anyone with the word private. It doesn't mean you won't see other people. But there are only the two dwellings on the property, the cabin and the lake house, which we also rent out; this is also noted on the rental description. A view on google maps will also support our claim that the area is remote, and private. Very little traffic or neighbors. We do, however, allow people to come in and day fish on the lake. Our fishing boat limit is 6 boats per day. The day you saw so many boats was because of a corporate event on that Saturday. It was an engineering firm who rented the house and allowed their supervisors to enjoy a day of fishing. They did also launch a 23 ft. "bay boat". We specify that all boats are to be kept at idle and must not cause wakes. Mike spent some time with the group that day and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. We had no idea they were disturbing you and regret we were unaware of your situation. Mike and I give out our phone numbers and tell our guests to call us if they need anything. I wish you had alerted us so we could address the noise problems with the other guests. We will definitely be more careful to let our guests on the opposite side know if an event is taking place. We will also make sure that the peace and solitude of the lake is not compromised. Hopefully, our guests will let us know immediately if there is excess noise. I apologize that you weren't 100% satisfied with your stay at our cabin. Katri

Good stay!

  • 4 of 5

Definitely a cute secluded cabin! A little disappointed in the fishing- we only caught two bass from the pier in front of the cabin. We were also under the impression it would be private however anyone can pay to fish on the lake. My oldest son had a blast crappie fishing next to the pier. Overall a fun family weekend and Would definitely consider coming back.
