Do NOT rent from Pelican Executive Suites. We booked a 2b/2b unit 3 months in advance for a family vacation weekend (3 small children and 4 adults). The morning we were to check in I got a TEXT message that they moved us to a unit across town that didn't have the same amenities, we had already prepaid for parking at the original site and it wasn't conducive to walking to our activities which was very important with a 2yr old. After calling numerous people for 4 hours they said they would put all 7 of us in a 1 bedroom
Unit. After many more calls and arguments, they put us in 2, 1 bedroom units on 2 different floors which did NOT working since we had to split up children between parents and constantly travel to different floors. They told me before we checked in that there would be some sort of compensation. I called the customer service department 4 times over the next week. They finally emailed me and told me we would receive no compensation because they gave us, what they felt was, an "equal" option. It has been absolutely terrible working with them. Save yourself and stay in the dozens of other options in Chicago!
My family and I stayed here for New Years and loved it. Great location. Super clean. Floor to ceiling windows had incredible city views. Game area, pool, hot tub, exercise area, steam room!!!!! Great service by Janell....very helpful!!! Highly recommended we will return for sure.
The person that was supposed to meet us with the keys wasn't there when she was supposed to be. After numerous phone calls she admitted she was at a wedding. Well good for her, but not for us. She eventually showed up and we were let in...The apartment was nice but stark. White walls, white trim, white everything with virtually nothing on the walls. Floor to ceiling glass exterior walls make it a bit harrowing for anyone with a fear of heights. The rooftop view was spectacular and the elevators are high-speed which was very nice. Parking is virtually non-existent which was a hassle for us.
• Great location
• Very clean
• Kitchen was reasonably stocked with dishes, pot, silverware, etc.
• Helpful front desk security
• Pool, spa, and work out room
• Near grocery store
• Dog friendly
• Washer and dryer
• A bit difficult to locate if you don't know the city
• Poor instructions for parking
• Only one roll of toilet tissue in unit
• Two towels for three people
Super safe, clean, apartment with a sleek modern design in the heart of Chicago. I traveled with my 12 year old son and we truly enjoyed the freedom and quietness that this rental offers; we enjoyed the pool and the gaming room as well. The apartment was on the 25th floor, had a nice layout, it felt big and comfy with a great view from both windows. But the apartments might differ in their decor and layout slightly since they are privately owned so don't get too attached to the way one of them looks like. Also there are several locations for the Optima buildings, our apartment was in Streeterville, upper Illinois street (literally upper). We had a great stay but it could have been even better if we had better directions to the apartment itself and more information about the building and the surroundings. The people in the front desk were very friendly though.
Our family of four stayed here for two nights, and we can't wait to stay here again. We found this apartment relaxing, clean, with breathtaking views of the Chicago skyline from the room and common areas. Location wonderful for eating and entertainment, we loved Whole Foods right next door. Management and staff was very friendly and helpful, wonderful access to amenities. $110 additional fees put onto the initial quoted rate, but we felt definitely worth the cost. Lots of storage and living space and enough housewares for our family of four. Five star no brainer.
