The yard is professionally landscaped with solar lighting guiding you along a walking path in the back yard. The patio has a Weber barbecue grill and seating for up to eight people. It’s a great location for entertaining whether serving meals or stargazing on a cool summer evening. There is a bathroom on each floor, full size washer & dryer, satellite TV and Wi-Fi.

The weather in Prescott is hard to beat: more than 300 days of sunshine with four distinct seasons due to the 5400 feet elevation. The town square has various boutiques, open-air bistros, numerous restaurants, live entertainment nightly, theaters, art shows, film festivals, craft fairs and outdoor concerts. It’s also the Christmas capital of Arizona with activities galore during the holiday season. Never a dull moment… check out the “Things to DO” at www.prescott.com. This website will update you with attractions, tours, outdoor recreation, winery tours, shopping, casinos and special events.

There are hiking and biking trails for the outdoor enthusiast along with bike shops that will rent equipment to you and your family. We have trail maps and menus along with suggestions of places to visit. Prescott was the first capital of the territory of Arizona and is home to the Prescott National Forest. This is pine tree country with scenic crystal clear mountain lakes and it provides activities that are fun and picturesque beyond words. Watson Lake is 4 miles from home and one of our favorite places to go as it features fishing, boating, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, rock climbing, camping and day picnicking.

About Property Manager/Owner

Hello! We are Doug and Barbara Johnston and our “main” home is in Bakersfield, California. At every opportunity, we escape to the peace and relaxation we have in our "Craftsman Home" at Prescott! We hope you’ll enjoy it as much as we do.

Why Property Manager/Owner chose Prescott

During the many years we’ve traveled abroad, we always kept an eye open for a “getaway place” to enjoy and perhaps even live one day. A laid back place that was slow and relaxed and yet one that offered a variety of activities that would keep things fresh and exciting. On our most recent trip to Prescott Arizona we knew we'd found what we were looking for. With it's warm, friendly people – we knew we found the perfect destination.

When we first saw the Craftsman home, it was all over. We'd found a beautiful home that was easily accessible to the Town of Prescott and yet far enough away to retain it’s exclusivity, yes….we knew this was the right place….the little piece of paradise that we could call our own! Quaint and stunningly impressive with it's Craftsman style and lost in the woods feel we bought and we’ve not had one regret!

What makes this house unique

Feels like home, light, bright, open floor plan with all the amenities needed to be at home, while away from home. Closeness to all that the Prescott area has to offer.

It just doesn't get much better then this.

Perfect home for our 4 night stay for a college visit. The home is spotless clean with fun decor. The beds were all comfortable. Can not think of anything that needs to be improved. We plan to stay again. Thank you for providing your home for rent.

Jan 2018

  • 4 of 5

We stayed the month of January and loved the house. We were welcomed with a "Welcome to our home" bottle of wine. It was just the two of us most of the time and we stayed generally on the main floor. We did take advantage of the wood burning fireplace on the lower patio as well as the gas grill and the gas fireplace on the main floor. We would definitely stay there again. The proximity to the downtown area is a real plus. Although there were only two of us, we were able to have family come and stay the night with plenty of room and beds.

Were I to offer any suggestions for improvement, they would be minor (more towels and dishes and an 8" non-stick fry pan)

Wonderful stay! 5 star Home and hospitality!

  • 5 of 5

This Home was even more beautiful in person if that can even be possible. It was clean, well stocked and we had one of the most relaxing weekends we have had in years. The outside fireplace was great. While sitting on the deck outside the kitchen we saw Deer passing by. The hosts were also great in making sure we had all info we needed! Thanks - we will be back!

Absolutely perfect!

  • 5 of 5

My family of four thoroughly enjoyed our four-night stay at this gorgeous property. From the moment we arrived, we all felt right at home. Well-appointed, spotlessly clean, comfortable, and charming -- there are plenty of superlatives I can use to describe this home. In particular, we loved the outdoor seating area with wood-burning fireplace. The whole experience was, quite honestly, perhaps the finest we've ever had through VRBO (and we travel a lot). Hope to return next year!

Did you know that the Prescott’s year-round activities have made it one of the top destinations in the Southwest? Stroll to the dozens of antique shops, boutiques, stunning art galleries, and restaurants from your cottage. Enjoy the nightlife of Whiskey Row, as well as Prescott’s new state-of-the-art library also within walking distance. We also have several public golf courses nearby so bring your clubs!

With more than 300 days of sunshine per year and four mild seasons, Prescott is a year-round destination. Prescott is known internationally for the World’s Oldest Rodeo in July, the Prescott Bluegrass Festival in June, dozens of arts and craft shows (some juried), and the Cowboy Poets Gathering. Did you know that Prescott is recognized as Arizona’s ‘official’ Christmas City? Join us for the spectacular tree lighting on Courthouse Square and our electric parade. Also, be part of the thousands of people who stroll the free live entertainment featured in every downtown shop for Acker night in December; a music festival like no other! For these attractions, be sure to book your stay early.
