New to market. 3 bedroom (plus separate sleeping porch) 1 1/2 bath, outdoor shower. Lots of parking with room for a trailered boat. 1930s Chatham farmhouse, with all the charm. If you have a boat, or like to paddleboard and kayak, the house is .2 miles from beautiful Barn Hill landing with its oyster shanties and gorgeous views and kayak rentals. Stroll down with your morning coffee to this pristine landing on Oyster Pond, or walk to Harding's beach, one of Chatham's best for walking, fishing. If you love the outdoors, the screened sleeping porch, with clear roof, is pure heaven as you sleep under the moon and stars and in the trees. We have slept there every night for two summers. Kids can go to the beach alone (the road has a sidewalk) or walk to dunkin donuts, Larry's RX (great breakfast and lunch) the shaved ice store, Kreme and Kone, D'angelos, all without crossing Rt 28. Large mahogany deck, big fire pit, and gas grill make wonderful evenings outdoors, roasting marshmallows, looking at the stars. Full- moon kayaks are the highlight of the summer. This home has ceiling fans in each bedroom, and no air conditioning. You must supply your own linens.
This house rents Sunday to Sunday to escape the on and off Cape traffic.
Barry and Sue love Chatham and the Cape. We are avid kiteboarders, surfers, paddleboarders, and Barn Hill Road is the perfect location. Barry is from Kenya and both spent lots of time outdoors and camping growing up. We love the simplicity of the Cape -- long days outdoors, evenings on the deck, fires in the fire pit.
Susan Shepherd purchased this farmhouse in 2009
We love to sleep under the moon and stars and in the trees, near the landing and beaches, we love the antique farmhouse and the location.
Outdoor sleeping porch, close to everything!
Everything about the property was great. Easy walk to the landing, mile to Hardings beach.
Close to downtown Chatham and all the shopping and restaurants.
The house itself is a great space, open kitchen lay out that we hung out in a lot, deck with large table where we are most of our meals.
There is a grill on the deck, and a fire pit that is great for cooler cape nights.
The outdoor sleeping porch was a hit with our group and every morning whoever slept out there came back saying it was the best nights sleep they had.
Sue was a great host and made sure we had everything we needed.
Besides being absolutely gorgeous, this place is so much fun! The location is perfect. My family went on long walks and scenic bike rides. We made s'mores in the fire pit. We ate lobster rolls and pies from the corner pie shop. We went on kayaks. We saw seals. Our days there were filled with fun outdoor activities and lazy lounging on the hammocks. The highlight of this place is the deep restful sleep you get in that breezy outdoor sleeping porch. It is magical.
As advertised, location was close to Harding's beach. Main cottage has three sweet bedrooms and a very pretty back porch and garden. Plus an extra special 1 room "cottage in the trees" that is very romantic. House was very clean, all amenities included. The couple who own this house are extremely nice and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. I would certainly recommend this for small families, couples vacationing together, or a perfect honeymoon. PS: Loved the fire pit too!
This is one of the prettiest cottages I have ever stayed in. The decor is completely charming, and the outdoor sleeping porch is magical, you're sleeping under the stars. Beautiful fire pit for roasting marshmallows, and you're only a short walk to the beach. The owners are lovely and do all they can to make sure your stay is perfect. Highly recommended.
If you rent this house, be sure to try sleeping in the separate screened-in structure in the back. You'll have the most peaceful and enjoyable night sleep you've ever had. The house is perfect for a family and has a lot of really fun features, a great back porch to sit and enjoy your coffee in the morning or for a nice dinner at night. The kids rooms are really fun, too. The location is perfect, near to both the center of town and the beach and you get a nice breeze, as it's at the top of a hill.
Right down the road .2 mile from kayak and paddleboard rentals on Oyster Bay, to kayak or paddle out to Nantucket Sound beaches. Walk on sidewalk or send the kids on bikes to beautiful town landing to put in your boat (.2 miles) or to Hardings Beach (.8 miles) or to restaurants (Dunkin, Larry's Px, Kreme and Kone and more). Great place for kids old enough to explore on their own (8 to 16) as they can walk or ride safely to food and adventure.
