We fell in love with the serenity, mountain view, and this is a great place to reconnect with friends and family.
Bryan purchased this chalet in 2015
Being here feels like you are in a treetop house, it's secluded yet only a short drive to civilization and tons of outdoor activities.
“Our stay at the Big Swag was absolutely phenomenal. Not only is it set in the gorgeous Smoky Mountains, but it's very private, spacious, and just cozy in general. Everything about the listing is accurate- the hot tub was AWESOME, the fireplace and firepit were wonderful and kept us warm. The directions provided were definitely needed as there is no service on the road to get out there, but wifi when you get to the cabin! I will add to bring your own paper products for the kitchen, but we were informed ahead of time that we should bring whatever we want to use to cook (olive oil, butter, salt, pepper, etc.) Overall and fantastic stay and it was our friends' first time using Airbnb so my husband and I enjoyed being able to spread the word about it. I kept saying that if I owned a mountain cabin, it would be just like this one. Thanks so much- highly recommend this cabin!”
Our family of five had a great time at this well-appointed mountain home. A few things come to mind...this home is very spacious and is well maintained/clean. Bryan seems to be making improvements to it all the time and it shows. We enjoyed the many amenities from the outdoor fire pit and hot tub, to the two level decks with great views. So quiet and tranquil too. Inside the home is very comfortable, with great decor and pretty much everything you need. One surprise was the strong WiFi signal in the house...we prepped the kids for 'life disconnected', so they were happy to discover this. Close proximity to Nantahala Outdoor Center and Bryson City (15-20 min drive to each from the home) and there's plenty to see and do all around. We really enjoyed our family time at this wonderful mountain retreat and look forward to returning again and again over the years.
Everything was great. Bryan, the owner was great to work with. The location is perfect if you want privacy and quite, the view is spectacular from the front porch. All you have to bring is your clothes, they even provided soap and shampoo !!! Its everything that is advertised and more !!!
The only "caution" I have is, if you are there to ride motorcycles as we were, the drive up and down to the cabin is extremely technical. Its probably a half a mile straight up and is a combination of concrete, asphalt and gravel, mostly gravel. We are all experienced riders but this thing is about a 9.5 on the "pucker factor".
I will stay there again and if you are going in a car or truck this place is perfect !!!
The trip to the mountains was meant for a relaxing getaway and it was exactly that. The area the cabin is in is very secluded and private. The cabin itself was decorated beautifully and very spacious. The family was able to spread out when needed due to the multiple floors and separate living areas/game room. There was plenty of rooms for our dogs to play outside and enjoyed running up and down the hill in the back yard. The fire pit and hot tub added to the relaxation and a great place to unwind. Overall I would definitely go again and have already recommended it to my family and friends as either a group/family getaway or a relaxed romantic getaway. Job well done.
When selecting a cabin, we wanted one that was secluded but close enough to attractions if needed. Big Swag did just that. The cabin itself is secluded and surrounded by trees with a beautiful short and long range view of the mountains. When arriving, the cabin was very clean and was accommodating as one would expect a hotel stay (including the soft and comfortable bed spread). The cabin was great for all: The game room was nice to relax with a few cocktails and a fire as well as the hot tub/fire pit with the mountain view. Overall the cabin layout was great as it had a lot of room to spread out with different activities for all. Since the weather was nice we were able to travel and sight see to the Cherohala Skyway to the highest point, the National forest, Fontana Dam, Lake Santellah and also lunch in Bryson city all within 15-25 minutes away. Overall, we would book this cabin again as it is great for family and friends with plenty of room. Our dog also loved running the yard as we did not worry about the traffic. We look forward to going back and enjoying some of the more outdoor activities in the summer.
The county recently changed the name of the road and subsequent house address to: 38 Tranquility Pines. Maps have not yet updated but there is a road sign for Tranquility Pines, along with the signs pointing to Big Swag Lodge so you'll have no problem finding the cabin.
