Photos and Description of this Robbinsville holiday chalet

3 Bedroom, 3 Bath, Mountain View, Relax In The Hottub Or On One Of Two Decks

Big Swag Lodge is an ideal wilderness retreat for those who still want all the comforts of home. The cabin offers the NFL Sunday Ticket package, media and game room in the basement with 4 TVs for your viewing pleasure. The cabin is secluded and offers a wonderful mountain view. Great for a friend's getaway or spending quality time with the family, you can star gaze from the hot tub, relax on one of the two decks, or nestle up by the fire.

Located right off of Hwy 28, Big Swag offers a direct route through Fontana Dam to the Tail of the Dragon. With only a 25 minute drive, you can enjoy the many offerings of the Nantahala Outdoor Center (NOC) including white water rafting, zip line tours, kayaking, other outdoor activities, and restaurants.

One of the peaks which can be seen from the cabin is Big Swag Mountain. Five hundred yards into Big Swag Mountain the trail drops into a spacious grassy turf shaded with a few widely spaced acres of trees. In the days of the Smoky Mountain herder, this park-like setting was known as the Big Swag. For all domestic purposes, the Big Swag still remains a remote wilderness outpost.

First Floor

The main floor features an open floorplan for the kitchen, dining area, and living room which features a flat-screen TV and fireplace, as well as a shared full bath, and two bedrooms each of which features a queen and full size beds. The two-story vaulted ceiling is punctuated by an amazing view through the huge wall of windows which leads to the attached deck. On the deck, you will find a comfortable place to relax as well as the gas grill (full propane tank included).

Upstairs, the open loft features a king-sized bed, flat-screen TV, ceiling fan, and a full bath. The open design allows you to enjoy the wonderful view through the huge front windows from the comfort of your bed.

Descending to the stairs is the "man cave"/gameroom, and enjoy a selection of board games, darts, fooseball, a stereo system, wet bar, comfortable seating, and a flat-screen TV with a soundbar to take in all of the games on Sunday with the included NFL Sunday Ticket package. This level also features a full bath and a separate entrance for easy access from the driveway. On the attached deck, you will find a porch swing to relax in, a patio furniture set, and a wrap around deck which leads you to the hot tub and a firepit in the side yard.

Your kitchen is appointed with modern appliances including cooktop, oven, dishwasher, microwave, and coffee maker. We also provide you with all the dishes, utensils and cooking tools you'll need. A gas grill is provided on the attached deck for BBQ connoisseurs (full propane tank and spare included).

Cabin feature both down and foam pillows as well as down comforters. Each bed has a pillow-top mattress and luxury, all-cotton linens. Designer shower towels are provided for the base number of occupancy with additional towels for hot tub use.

About Bryan

We fell in love with the serenity, mountain view, and this is a great place to reconnect with friends and family.

Bryan purchased this chalet in 2015

Why Bryan chose Lake Santeetlah

Being here feels like you are in a treetop house, it's secluded yet only a short drive to civilization and tons of outdoor activities.

Guestbook comments from the owner

“Our stay at the Big Swag was absolutely phenomenal. Not only is it set in the gorgeous Smoky Mountains, but it's very private, spacious, and just cozy in general. Everything about the listing is accurate- the hot tub was AWESOME, the fireplace and firepit were wonderful and kept us warm. The directions provided were definitely needed as there is no service on the road to get out there, but wifi when you get to the cabin! I will add to bring your own paper products for the kitchen, but we were informed ahead of time that we should bring whatever we want to use to cook (olive oil, butter, salt, pepper, etc.) Overall and fantastic stay and it was our friends' first time using Airbnb so my husband and I enjoyed being able to spread the word about it. I kept saying that if I owned a mountain cabin, it would be just like this one. Thanks so much- highly recommend this cabin!”

Wonderful mountain retreat

  • 5 of 5

Our family of five had a great time at this well-appointed mountain home. A few things come to mind...this home is very spacious and is well maintained/clean. Bryan seems to be making improvements to it all the time and it shows. We enjoyed the many amenities from the outdoor fire pit and hot tub, to the two level decks with great views. So quiet and tranquil too. Inside the home is very comfortable, with great decor and pretty much everything you need. One surprise was the strong WiFi signal in the house...we prepped the kids for 'life disconnected', so they were happy to discover this. Close proximity to Nantahala Outdoor Center and Bryson City (15-20 min drive to each from the home) and there's plenty to see and do all around. We really enjoyed our family time at this wonderful mountain retreat and look forward to returning again and again over the years.

awesome cabin with breathtaking view. Everything you need for an incredible vacation

  • 5 of 5

Everything was great. Bryan, the owner was great to work with. The location is perfect if you want privacy and quite, the view is spectacular from the front porch. All you have to bring is your clothes, they even provided soap and shampoo !!! Its everything that is advertised and more !!!

The only "caution" I have is, if you are there to ride motorcycles as we were, the drive up and down to the cabin is extremely technical. Its probably a half a mile straight up and is a combination of concrete, asphalt and gravel, mostly gravel. We are all experienced riders but this thing is about a 9.5 on the "pucker factor".

I will stay there again and if you are going in a car or truck this place is perfect !!!

Relaxing and Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

The trip to the mountains was meant for a relaxing getaway and it was exactly that. The area the cabin is in is very secluded and private. The cabin itself was decorated beautifully and very spacious. The family was able to spread out when needed due to the multiple floors and separate living areas/game room. There was plenty of rooms for our dogs to play outside and enjoyed running up and down the hill in the back yard. The fire pit and hot tub added to the relaxation and a great place to unwind. Overall I would definitely go again and have already recommended it to my family and friends as either a group/family getaway or a relaxed romantic getaway. Job well done.

Amazing Cabin to get away, relax with family/friends

  • 5 of 5

When selecting a cabin, we wanted one that was secluded but close enough to attractions if needed. Big Swag did just that. The cabin itself is secluded and surrounded by trees with a beautiful short and long range view of the mountains. When arriving, the cabin was very clean and was accommodating as one would expect a hotel stay (including the soft and comfortable bed spread). The cabin was great for all: The game room was nice to relax with a few cocktails and a fire as well as the hot tub/fire pit with the mountain view. Overall the cabin layout was great as it had a lot of room to spread out with different activities for all. Since the weather was nice we were able to travel and sight see to the Cherohala Skyway to the highest point, the National forest, Fontana Dam, Lake Santellah and also lunch in Bryson city all within 15-25 minutes away. Overall, we would book this cabin again as it is great for family and friends with plenty of room. Our dog also loved running the yard as we did not worry about the traffic. We look forward to going back and enjoying some of the more outdoor activities in the summer.
