Welcome to the "Nashatram", surrounded by beautiful floating gardens this 110 year old ship was formerly used as transport ship. Completely rebuilt and redesigned by the owner and his father it now averages 75m2 , 800 ft2.
Located on a very quiet and green canal in the center of Amsterdam within walking distance of any center spot and Waterlooplein flea market, the zoo, botanical gardens and the river Amstel with the famous Skinny Bridge this ship is just 100 meters from a metro station.
Centrally heated this ship is cozy and warm through winter and very bright due to many skylights and windows all around. The spacious living room and open kitchen which are entered on a private terrace by stairs includes blinds, wifi and Imac with external speakers, amplifier, flatscreen tv with dvd. Fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, espresso machine, electric oven, 5 burner gas stove with wok burner etc. Toilet entered from living room.
Attached to the bedroom a bathroom with bath, shower, sink and washing and drying machine including towels, soap etc.
Bedroom with double bed, reached by short stairs including bed linen and extra bed linen. Sleeping couch in living room (double bed) with bedlinen underneath.
Plenty outside space with front deck terrace, roof terrace and a terrace at entrance with seats and sun screen and a garden on the streetside with herbs for cooking, flowers, fruit trees and bamboo.
As the owners live on this houseboat with their 5 year old daughter when it is not rented the atmosphere is very homely and they will be very helpful with questions regarding the neighborhood, like about transport, tourist attractions, bike rental etc.
Children friendly, toys and baby cot available at request.
Non-Smoking, smoking only outside on terrace.
The owner has been living on this canal since 1985. He bought this old ship from 1905 in 1997 and completely rebuilt it from scratch in 2000, only the hull is original.
Joost Naber purchased this house boat in 1997
A tremendous, bright and welcoming boat on a quiet canal. A perfect weekend of sunshine sitting on the deck. Extraordinry in every way! Joost and his family are wonderful hosts that made every detail perfect.
My family of 3 spent a short week in this boathouse, and it helped to make our time in Amsterdam unique and complete. Joost and his family made us feel so comfortable and welcome. We found the ship to be clean, bright, comfortable, well-arranged, and charming, and the extras that were waiting to welcome us we so kind. Everything (kitchen, bathrooms, internet, etc.) worked well, so we could relax and just enjoy the place. We also lucked out with a personal tour of the canals, which was memorable and very much appreciated.
The ship is in an ideal location, as everything in the city is easily walkable but you can avoid the noise of the Old Center. Amsterdam is a lovely place to visit; staying here made our trip so much more memorable, as it felt like we were truly staying in a canal city. I highly recommend this place. Thanks to Joost & Kiek for sharing your wonderful boathouse with us!

Our family of two adults and two young boys had the pleasure of renting Joost and Kiek's sun-filled houseboat for a week in March. The boat had everything we needed to be comfortable, including a well-equipped kitchen that enabled us to make full meals. The location is fantastic, being just around the corner from a metro (subway) stop and an Albert Heijn supermarket, and a 10-minute walk to the amazing Artis zoo, home to the happiest zoo animals you'll ever meet. Joost was always quick to respond and easy to deal with, and he and Kiek went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. (Thanks again for the loan of the scooter!) We say why pay more for a boring hotel room when you can have the memorable experience of living on a canal in a genuine boat? Highly recommended.
We really enjoyed our little vacation in Amsterdam and our stay at the houseboat lived up to all expectations .
The boat was perfect for our family including our little chihuahua .
The boat´s location was perfect in a quiet area and within walking distance to the center of Amsterdam .
The city was exciting and people welcoming and friendly .
The whole family - adults, teenagers and dog - highly recommend Joost' houseboat.
We will definitely come back :-)
