The Log House is a family treasure dedicated to 5 stepbrothers, Christopher, Scolaighe, Donovan, Daniel, and Dominic by their parents Chris and Maria to experience for their lifetimes.
Lots were purchased in 2005 on the Lake side (opposite the golf course side) of the Resort and the original Log House was completed in 2007. It hosted hundreds of guests for vacations, reunions, retreats, holiday gatherings, anniversaries, a 100th birthday, two marriage proposals and many other beautiful moments for the following 5 years.
In 2012, it was converted into a full-time residence to escape the rat race of northern VA and provide a smaller and more personal school experience in the Shenandoah Valley for the boys, especially the youngest who continues to make autism feel like a special bonus more than a disability. Another wing was added to include a large master suite, an office, a 3 car garage, and a professional grade gym. A new sun room and breakfast room were added to the original Log House, as well as a sitting room "bridge" to connect the new wing. Outside, a detached log workshop was built and the driveway was upgraded to a U-shape and a beautiful stone stairway and wall from the road to the house was constructed.
In the winter of 2012, Scolaighe chose to marry his beautiful wife Masha at The Log House, nearly twice its original size, The winter wedding ceremony took place on the center stairway witnessed by nearly 100 guests from across the country and the world. It was a magical christening of The Log House with the types of moments it was always meant to inspire.
In 2015 when 2 of the youngest brothers finished high school and began college and the Army National Guard, The Log House 2.0 was converted to a vacation rental home for hundreds more guests to enjoy.
Thank you so much to the family, friends, and returning guests who continue to make The Log House a special, unique, and timeless setting for some of life's most memorable moments.
Donovan Goebert purchased this cabin in 2005
The Log House is the only genuine log cabin that is available to rent to large families on the resort and is even displayed on the Bryce Resort webpage within the lodging section! It's breathtaking, but comfortable. Spacious enough for large families, but cozy enough for intimate gatherings, including the brothers' annual family reunions since 2007 and the family's first wedding. Many guests have returned year after year for their own family traditions, and we are confident that The Log House 2.0 will be a huge success. We hope to see YOU at The Log House for your next vacation!
The house far surpassed our expectations. We were a group of friends celebrating - there was so much space, two massive decks out the back with the hot tub, all awesome.
This place definitely has the wow factor - especially as we were mostly not Americans, and were keen for the classic American log house in the forest experience!
Would definitely stay here again!!
The log cabin is a beautiful, well-maintained home. The owner was prompt with his communication and easy to get a hold of. Great experience!
Bryce resort offers many summer activities including lake, community pool and golf. Great for a family getaway. The house is tucked away in the woods although not completely isolated. Very spacious and lots of activities. Only reason for not giving 5 stars were there were some small maintenance details (missing pool balls and remotes, grill not cleaned) that were overlooked but did not detract from our overall experience.
The description of The Log House is more than accurate - beautiful views, comfortable space and lots of room for guests. We loved our stay - all family members. We had several rainy days and were able to stay busy with the recreation offered in the house - pool table, movies, small nooks for reading. Highly recommend for a large group gathering.
House is stocked with everything you could need.
There are many options for hikes, water access and cavern visits within an hour of the house. Shenandoah National Park is an hour away, and the drive is amazing.
First, the owners were very responsive and considerate of our needs. Chris and Donovan were very considerate of our needs and were flexible to meet our requests and answered our questions!
The Log House has everything we hope for: it was spacious, entertaining and has an atmosphere for peace and quiet when you need it. The Master's BR is separate and isolated so we had time to just relax there. The kitchen has everything you need to cook a nice meal. We love to have home cook dinner so we used the kitchen a lot! The hot tub was a hit and Lake Laura is only few minutes away. Tennis Courts at Bryce Resort was well used and the weather was perfect! At night we had family games and movie night and we hang out downstairs!
Luray Cavern was a hit and Massanutten waterpark was a good trip for the kids. We had few good walks to Lake Laura and around the area. Overall, there is enough to do to exercise and explore the area.
Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful Log Home. We had quality time just being together and your home was a great place to hang out and bond together. We are so grateful to find a big enough house to enjoy!
We highly recommend this home for families who are looking for a time to enjoy each other and the nature around it!
This was our first family vacation with my husband's brothers, mother & nieces/nephews. We had a fabulous time with so much room for everyone! We spent one day ziplining at the resort, tubing another & exploring Luray Caverns. Just wish restaurants and grocery was a little closer!
