The Perfect Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay in this house. It had everything we needed and was definitely well maintained. All the kitchenware seemed brand new which made cooking and eating in a pleasure. We ran into a few bumps - hot tub wasn't ready for use, we arrived at the end of a horrible heat way and the house had no air conditioning, our paperwork wasn't ready when we arrived. BUT both Frank and the owner were extremely responsive and accommodating. The owner even purchased an air conditioner for us and had it installed immediately. Whenever we reached out to Frank he immediately took care of whatever need we had. I think one of the best parts of this house is the outside area. There was some thought put into setting that up in a way that's comfortable for several guests. There are two tables, lots of chairs, and a hammock. We spent a lot of time out on the porch and patio. Lovely home and we thoroughly enjoyed the stay!

MOSTLY a great time

  • 3 of 5

I want to start by sharing all the positives of this property, for there were many. Upon booking the owner sent us info on the area, brochures, and a gift card for wawa, which was very cute. The house is located in a gated community, which lends a sense of security. The house itself was immaculately clean from the kitchen to the bathrooms. All the bedding and towels were freshly washed and folded and provided for our use. The space is small by Pocono home standards but for our group of 7, very comfortable. The outdoor area featured a hot tub and a firepit/patio, which we enjoyed a lot. There is also a grill, which was clean and had a filled propane tank. The beds were comfy!

The only major problem we had concerned the hot tub, and I feel it's important to mention this in my review to help others be aware of the situation we had so it's not repeated with this property or any other. Two of the women who attended our weekend developed "hot tub folliculitis" upon returning home. This is a condition that can only occur when a hot tub isn't properly cleaned or chlorinated. I contacted the agent once the women determined what had happened, and at first was simply told "oh, that's too bad, we'll make sure it's cleaned better next time". I felt this wasn't an appropriate response, so I wrote again and stated that it was the owner's responsibility to ensure the cleanliness of the property. Two of my friends required doctors' visits and both topical and oral antibiotics to address the infection! The agent responded that the owner hadn't been happy with this service in the past and would find a new cleaning company, and was offering me $50 for "dinner on him" for our inconvenience. Again, I didn't feel this was appropriate and said that I thought both girls who were affected should at least have the cost of their medical expenses covered. Finally the owner gave us $100, and the agent stated that the tub was cloudy and had debris in it after we left, a comment which was completely uncalled for. We didn't cause the problem in the first place and I didn't appreciate the implication that we might be responsible for what had happened.

I understand this was an accident and an oversight. However, once the owner was aware that this situation occurred (as was made clear by the agent's comment that the owner hadn't been happy with their service in the past) I think the two women's stay should have been refunded without me hounding him.

Owner's Response: We try to make sure every aspect of our renter’s time in our home is positive. This particular incident was unfortunate and not easy to figure out the actual cause. When we 1st heard of the issue, we immediately spoke with the hot tub service and voiced our concerns. We asked him to go check it out immediately and his response was that the tub was in terrible shape and the water level was extremely low, but the chemical balance was OK. He had other possible explanations, but we determined that it would be impossible to figure out what REALLY occurred. Our plan is to replace the hot tub maintenance folks. Regardless cause of this particular problem, we don’t want any re-occurrence in the future.

Meticulous, well set-up house

  • 5 of 5

This house was fantastic! It was very clean and charming, and was conveniently located between various Poconos ski mountains - we went to Camelback (40 mins), Jack Frost (15 mins), and Elk (1 hour) and this provided a great home base. We loved the hot tub! We worked with the same property managers last year and have been very impressed with their thoroughness and responsiveness. Minor problems figuring out wi-fi network info, and Frank helped us work it out. The house itself isn't huge, however for a vacation rental, it was certainly sufficient and we loved it for our group of 8 and a dog (2 families, each with 2 children - the bunk rooms were great for the kids). Thank you!

Beautiful Pocono Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This was a lovely property. It was just as nice as we'd hoped, if not nicer! The house is lovely and so well-maintained. It is tucked back in a pretty neighborhood which I imagine is especially gorgeous in the warmer months. This was the most well-stocked rental I've experienced. We're used to bringing everything because most rental places are pretty stingy with the details, but this home had nice kitchenware like dishes, silverware, utentsils and pots and pants, but there were also paper towels, hand and dish soap--all the little things you don't often find in rentals. The king bed in the Master BR is amazingly comfortable and we loved the ambiance the fireplace offered. We took advantage of grilling outside and ate lunch at the table on the front deck when the weather permitted one afternoon. The home had several up to date TVs and other appliances, which was a nice perk.

The property manager was fantastic to work with. He was very responsive and friendly. We got a lot of materials in advance of our visit to inform us of activities and things in the vicinity, which was nice. Overall, it was a beautiful house if you're looking for a Pocono getaway!
