Located on the shores of Big Bald Lake in Buckhorn in the Heart of the Kawarthas. Clean and comfortable Housekeeping Cottages with all the conveniences.

Catalina Bay Resort is a four season resort getaway. We have a safe and sandy beach, restaurant, gas, launching and docking facilities, country store, and worms available on site, as well as acres of tranquil trails for your enjoyment. The Buckhorn area is also famous for its arts and crafts shows.

Famous for its great fishing, species include Pickerel [Walleye], Large and Smallmouth Bass, Muskie, Perch and for our European guests some of the best Carp fishing anywhere in the Kawarthas.

Open Year Round we have Spring and Fall getaway packages as well as Winter packages available, we are located on some of the best ski trails in the area.

Great stay at Catalina Bay Resorts

Had a lovely stay in one of the 3bdrm units. The cottage was a great size for 7 people and plenty of beds for everyone. The kitchen area was recently updated and the appliances worked great. If I had 1 complaint (and we are not neat freaks) it would be that the floors, fans and space heaters were quite dusty. (yes we used the fans and space heaters in the same week!) I am sure these items are used a lot over the season so more regular cleaning of them would be a plus. Liz was very attentive and responded quickly if we had any questions. Overall had a great experience, plan to come back for sure!

Great stay. Will be back next year

Great experience! Owner was easy to contact and replied quickly to questions. Cabin was clean and well stocked with kitchen necessities. Beach was very clean and ideal for my toddler. Overall great experience and look forward to booking again next year with more family and friends!

Bad first experience with Reservations at Catalina Bay Resort

I had a very disappointing first experience following a reservation with the property owner Ms. Liz with whom I spoke directly at first, who took my reservation and confirmed availability for the dates I choose. A few days later I got an email from Canada Stays informing me - quote: "The property owner needs to make a change to your booking request". I called the property owner Liz about the change request as she had already confirmed my initial request. After a few attempts of trying to reach Liz by phone I left a voice mail message and my call was not returned. I got another email from Canada Stays advising me, quote: " the revised booking request from Catalina Bay Resort has just expired"... by which time I had already changed our plan of a weekend away to another resort since I did not hear from Liz the property owner again. This was my first bitter experience of the much anticipated holiday that didn't happen at Catalina Bay Resort. My family and were very disappointed with how the reservation process was handled for Catalina Bay Resort.
