Step into a world of Southern elegance with an inviting wrap-around porch, covered patio and a nine-window turret adding to the home's character. The space
America has provided countless individuals with the opportunity for a better life, and our family is grateful to be one of them. We acknowledge the sacrifices made by those who came before us, which have afforded us the peace, freedom, and lifestyle we enjoy today.
Through hard work, persistence, and determination, we've turned our dreams into reality. With a large family, we needed a space where we could celebrate without inconveniencing others. This beautiful land, previously a wooded area in the western side of Wake Forest, was made possible by the generosity of the Marshall Family. Mom's desire for a wrap-around porch and my wish for a turret, with its natural light and scenic views, were brought to life by Reeves Spainhour, a local custom builder with a big heart. We are eternally grateful for this stunning Victorian home.
Over the past 15 years, our family has come and gone, prompting us to share this American Dream with others through vacation rentals since 2015. It's heartwarming to witness others enjoy our home, even for a brief time.
Chateau d'Amour aptly reflects the love that fills this space, dedicated to family and friends.
The Space:
Chateau d'Amour embodies luxurious yet relaxed living. Its sculptural facade and expansive verandas offer comfort and a warm welcome. Upon entry, an 80-foot view axis leads through the rotunda to the family room fireplace. The circular floor plan effortlessly connects the den, formal living room, kitchen, and formal dining through the butler's pantry. Access to the outdoors is provided by the covered outdoor dining and BBQ porch. The circular stairway in the rotunda leads to the spacious master suite retreat. The upper floor includes a guest suite, two suites sharing the turret, and a large media room with a sink.
Despite its substantial 5,348 sq ft size, the home feels far from overwhelming; it exudes warmth and embraces its occupants. Whether it's karaoke in the family room, piano in the formal living room, or dancing under the moonlight on the outside dance floor, each space is designed for enjoyment and insulation from other activities.
Watching the changing seasons, from cherry blossoms and azaleas in spring to hummingbirds in summer, or fireflies at night, creates a serene atmosphere. The property's bird feeding stations attract a variety of North Carolina birds. A telescope and binoculars enhance the experience.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to all areas of the home, except for the large master closet, the storage room off the bonus room, and the detached garage. Currently, only the two-car portion of the attached four-car garage is available for use.
Interaction with Guests:
Upon arrival, you will be shown around the house by the caretakers if there is a chance. Otherwise, you will be given a code to enter the front and side door of the property. There is no key. Caretakers live inside the compound in the additional dwelling unit and will stay out of your way unless help is needed.
Other Important Details:
The bedroom configurations include a king-size bed in the Owner Suite, a queen-size bed with a twin trundle bed in the second bedroom, and two queen-size beds in the onf of the two rooms beside the turret and a king size bed in the other room. The bonus room features a sectional sofa with a pull out queen bed. Downstairs the office has been converted to a bedroom with a queen size bed. There is only a half bath on the first floor, no full bath.
We provide brand-new air filters for each new guest and sanitize high-touch areas before your arrival.
The kitchen appliances were upgraded in December 2020 with top-of-the-line SubZero fridge, Wolf stove, microwave, oven, and Cove dishwasher.
The property is fenced upfront only with a custom-designed wrought iron gate at the front, manually operated for added security.
Security cameras are recently installed, with one by the front door, another in a corner of the house, and one inside (which can be unplugged by guests).
The water source is a 200 ft deep well, tested for lead, nitrate, and nitrate. The home has also been tested for radon gas, with no issues detected.
The grass is a mix of wild grass and Bermuda, and no chemical fertilizer is used. It is fine to park on the grass.
The tankless water heater outside the side door may take a few minutes to deliver hot water to the bedrooms above. Let it run, and hot water will reach those areas eventually.
Chateau d'Amour's traditional beauty and flexible floor plan have earned recognition and awards, underscoring its exceptional quality.
