Great location directly on the waterfront of Lake Shehawken in Rural Pennsylvania. 60 acre spring fed lake adjoining two 400 acre farms. Nothing but tranquility surrounds.

Minutes from Hancock, NY.

Renovated four season lakefront cottage has all the amenities to make your vacation comfortable.

Gentle slope to private lake for summertime swimming, boating and fishing. Walk out the front door to hiking and biking. Near miles and miles of trails through state game lands. Minutes to the West Branch Delaware River for world class fly fishing, or drive a little further south to the Main Stem Delaware River for rafting and canoeing.

House has renovated kitchen, and two renovated bathrooms (1 double shower, 1 clawfoot bathtub) and rental comes with clean white linens and towels. House has three bedrooms that sleeps up to 6 adults plus 4 children (full bed in each of three bedrooms, plus bunk beds in two of the larger rooms).

Lake Shehawken is a spring fed lake that has modest homes and cottages that have been owned by families for generations. The few renters tend to be families that come back year after year. Fantastic place to enjoy the solitude and relax.

Located in the North East corner of Wayne County, PA, just minutes from Hancock, NY (convergence of East and West Branches of Delaware River). Approximately 3 hours door-to-door from NYC or Philadelphia.

Winter Wonderland with ice skating directly on lake (conditions permitting) and fantastic skiing nearby at Elk Mountain. Snow shoeing endless miles of gameland trails. Snow ball fights and sledding for the whole family. Short drive to Elk Mountain for great downhill skiing.

Incredibly peaceful

The lake views and sunrise are amazing. The area is remote and quiet and was exactly what we were hoping to find. We had planned on cooking all our meals and the Preston County Market 15 minutes away had most anything we had not packed. Hancock, NY, a 30 minute country ride away had antique shops and a lovely overlook of the DE River.The host has stocked the house inside and out with everything you could possibly need for a sunny or rainy day. Eric was very responsive when an unforeseen maintenance issue arose and handled it quickly and efficiently. The lake was beautiful and we hope to return!

Much needed vacation!

This place was more than accommodating, had everything we needed. Comfy beds, games for kids to play and the lake was beautiful. Had a very nice week of relaxation.

Great mountain getaway

If you're looking for a secluded, mountain getaway, look no further. We went for an extended family ski trip over Presidents' Weekend and found this to be the perfect spot! The instructions emailed prior to our trip were comprehensive an perfect for navigating the back roads, check-in details, turning on all of the different aspects of the house's systems, etc. We arrived in the dark only to wake up to the most gorgeous view of the sun coming up over the lake, which feels like you could just reach out the window and touch it. The touches to the home were wonderful with lots of attention paid to the small details. Great comfortable beds, wonderful kitchen setup, awesome screened-in porch with wood burning stove, etc. We particularly loved that the house was stocked with family and kids' games! Just know the walls are thin, so best for friends and family who are comfortable with one another. Only an easy 20-25 min drive from Elk for skiing and within 15 min from a bunch of casual dining options. All in all, we absolutely loved our stay!

Wonderful Lakefront Cottage

Everything was as advertised & promised by the owner. This cottage was clean & adequately furnished. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need (two coffee makers, toaster oven, microwave, coffee filters, spices, condiments, etc. etc.) There was even coffee & ice cream in the fridge! Shehawken is an idyllic, quiet lake (large pond, really) that only allows electric outboard motors, so it’s perfect for paddling around peacefully in kayaks & canoes provided for quests. The sunsets across the Lake are breathtaking. One word of advice - if you’re planning to be loud or boisterous, this is not the place for you. It’s not in a community or a setting that lends itself to being a “party house.”

This is our 3rd stay at the Sheehawken house. As usual everything was as expected. The house is always clean the lake is always beautiful. Eric checks in to make sure we have what we need and that everything is going well. We will be back next year.

My wife and I are both in the creative fields. I manage the design and development of new products (ie. housewares, consumer electronics) and my wife is a practicing artist based in New York City. We have two kids who enjoy coming to the lake on weekends, holidays and summer. The lakehouse is a retreat for us all, and we couldn't live in the city without it.

Why they chose this property

I'm an avid fly fisherman and have been coming to the area for many years. We spent about 2 years looking for the right house in the right location, and found this spot in the dead of winter, and immediately knew it was a gem. The broker said that if we liked it in the middle of a blizzard, we'd love it during the summer . . .

What makes this property unique

This part of rural PA is special, because it's like time stops out here. Renters always ask us for a list of local attractions, but we find that almost all of the people who come to the lake barely leave the comforts of the house and lakefront. Come see for yourself.
