About Beth Rushlow

My husband and I are avid beach goers. We love the ocean and all it's beauty. It is different every time you walk it, surf it, or paddle board it. We grew up about 55 miles from the ocean. However we were constantly driving to Newport and Middletown every weekend in the summer to enjoy the beauty of the area and the beaches. We have enjoyed so many great families, Captains and their crews, students, and yearly renters in our cottages. On our property are 3 cottages and a main house. We rent one cottage as a yearly lease. The other two we winter lease and then change over to weekly rentals for the summer. We take get pride in keeping the cottages clean and comfortable for our renters. We know how important your vacation time is and work our hardest to make sure it a great vacation for you and your family.

Beth Rushlow purchased this cottage in 2002

Why Beth Rushlow chose Newport East

When we bought this property it was terribly run down. The men who owned it for a couple years before we purchased it did not keep the property up. My husband found this property and just feel in love with it. It was a diamond in the rough and we spent the first couple of years working very hard to bring this property up for us and our renters. The location of this property is so beautiful and everyplace that you want to go to is so accessible. It has been a lot of hard work, but we love the property and we love the area. We continue to work on the property and we are there to take care of our renters.

What makes this cottage unique

We had been looking for about 2 years to find a home in this area. It is a very nice neighborhood and a quite area. Yet it is in the best location . We can go to the beach in less than 5 minutes. We can be down town Newport in less than 5 minutes. The famous Cliff Walk is about a 5 minute walk from the cottage. Make sure to bring your camera. The views are incredible!

You also have Bellevue Avenue where all the mansions are. They have tours daily. You must take a tour and get to see how these people lived and remember these were just their summer cottages. Unbelievable ! This is such an incredible place to call home. You must come visit and enjoy all there is to offer. We have repeat renters who have been returning every 4-5 years. When they leave at the end of their vacation they book right then for the next summer.

Cozy cottage, great hosts

  • 5 of 5

My wife and myself spent a week there. The first and last night we were joined by our daughter that had taken a summer course at Brown.

We had a great time and we fully enjoyed the cottage and, especially, the deck with the grill where we had great grilled fresh fish and veggies.

The hosts, Beth and Dave, live next door and they were extremely gracious and helpful. They were always ready to answer questions and to solve everything we needed.

We highly recommend this nice place which is also very conveniently located.

Very quiet on one side and at the same time, close to everything and at walking distance to Stanton Beach.

We'll be back !!!

Another lovely stay!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at Surfer's Paradise and we loved it just as much as the first. It's perfect for our family of 3. We love the short walk to the beach, and the owner's, Beth & Dave, could not be more welcoming! We loved the addition of the air conditioner, ladder ball, and bocce ball year. Thanks for another great stay!

Very Nice!

  • 5 of 5

We had a nice time in the cottage, our second time there. It fits our needs quite well. Close enough to First Beach and a few restaurants to easily walk, but also nicely secluded when we just want to relax. The yard in back is great for the kids to get out and be a little more active when they want to.

Very nice cottage in walking distance to 1st beach

  • 5 of 5

Beth and Dave made us feel at home right away. If you are looking for a very clean and well- maintained place with hosts never getting tired of answering questions and always being very helpful, THIIS is the place to be. I would recommend this cottage any time. The description on the listing is accurate regarding the location, layout, amenities, etc. The cottage is even nicer compared to the photos.....

Beautiful, clean, comfortable cottage.

  • 5 of 5

Our second time to stay at Surfer's Paradise and we just love it there. Comfortable, clean and perfectly located while also being able to relax from hustle and bustle of touristy area. Walking distance to the beach, Cliff Walk, and even downtown Newport. Also love to go to Sachuest Point for a nice walk with beautiful views.

Beth and Dave are so nice and accommodating while also giving you your privacy.

We can't wait to go back next year!

Second Time is Even Better!

  • 5 of 5

Our family returned to Surfer's Paradise for a second year in a row. Once again we had a great time in Middletown. First Beach is such a short walk and the waves are perfect for our 6 year old son. The cottage is close to the other beaches, Middletown restaurants, and is just a short ride to downtown Newport. Once again Surfer's Paradise was clean, inviting, and comfortable. Plus it has a great deck out back to hang out on. Beth and Dave are great and are always very helpful and will drop anything to make sure your stay is perfect. This year our friends stayed in the other cottage on the property and we had a great time together. Plenty of room for the kids to play in the yard. We will definitely return again.

The cottage is one street off the ocean. You can walk to First Beach within 5 mins. They have a carousel there, snack bar, showers and bathrooms. You can also walk up Purgatory Road about a 10 min walk past St. George's school down the hill to Second Beach, Surfer's End where you can rent a surfboard, a paddle board, a skim board, or take surf lessons. Further down Second Beach is a concession stand, bathrooms and showers. You can go further down to Third Beach which is a beautiful cove with moored boats. Ideal for smaller children due to the gradual entry into the water. There are some picnic tables and metal grills for your use. Just need to bring the charcoal and your food to grill. There are porta-johns there for your convenience. At the end of Second Beach is a natural refuge for the birds and deer. There are many different paths that bring you all around the corner heading to Third Beach. The scenery is breathtaking. There are 5 area restaurants that you can walk to from the cottage. There are so many beautiful areas around our neighborhood to ride your bikes. Sweet Berry Farm is an excellent place to ride to and visit their farm, shop in their very unique country store, and sit down and have a nice lunch under the grape vines. They also have a band playing on Tuesday nights during the summer. Just pack a picnic lunch, bring your blankets or chairs and enjoy the free concert. Then when you want to have a lot of hustle and bustle, head downtown Newport( 10) minutes from the cottage, to the marinas, boat tours, shopping, great water front dining, night clubs, an arcade for the kids. It is endless with the activities going on all the time. You can go online to Newport Summer Activities to make sure of what is happening the week you want to come on your vacation. The Volvo racing is coming back to Newport this summer. They were so impressed with Newport as of right now it will be the only port of call on the East Coast. You can watch them right from Fort Adams sitting on the lawn. Fort Adams is another great place to visit and tour what was once an active fort holding off the enemy with the cannons and militia.
