The Toolshed Corner Guest Cabin is located on the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail and only minutes from Giant City State Park, Ferne Clyff State Park, and Lake of Egypt. Two Bedrooms (2Q) with a fold out queen couches to sleep 6. Sit on the porch and enjoy the 180 degree view or the surrounding hills and bluffs.

The property is conveniently located close to area wineries, Giant City State Park, and other attractions and beauty unique to Southern Illinois. Nearby towns include Cobden, Goreville, Anna, Jonesboro, Alto Pass, Makanda, Dongola, Carbondale, Marion, Vienna, Carterville, Herrin, and Murphysboro.

Eclipse 2017 Payment Terms - 33% due at booking, 33% due 6 months before arrival, 33% due 30 days before arrival. Eclipse cancellations will receive 100% refund if canceled 6 months or more prior to arrival, 50% refund if cancelled 90 days or more before arrival, and 0% refund if cancelled less than 90 days before arrival.

About Steve Young

I grew up in Southern Illinois, and could not wait to 'Get Out,' 'Escape,' and go to the big city. I went to school in Chicago at the Illinois Institute of Technology, and left Southern Illinois far behind. I thought this was great.

I had a very successful career in the online advertising, marketing, and market research world catering to big pharma. In a normal year I would fly 125,000 miles and see many places, countries and sites.

As I grew older and my 'success' continued I felt more and more that something was missing. I began to yearn for the hills of Southern Illinois, the slower pace of life, and the people I left behind more and more.

I 2013, I came home for a few weeks to help my mother move my father into a nursing home. After this was completed I flew to Milan for business, and on my way back I received a call that my mother had had a stroke. This was a life changing event for me, and I never really went home.

My father spent the year getting worse, and my Mother spent the year getting better. When my father died in December of 2013, I decided to 'officially' move to Southern Illinois in order to spend more time with my mother and be closer with family. I also made the decision to leave the company I worked for and do something simpler, and local to Southern Illinois.

June 1st, 2014 I started my company with the goal to create vacation rental homes in Southern Illinois and help the area grow tourism. Southern Illinois is a beautiful and special place, and I would like to share it with as many people as possible.

Why Steve Young chose Buncombe

This property was an old Bed and Breakfast, and the view was spectacular. The property was foreclosed on and a friend that I went to high school with had purchased it and remodeled the main house. Once I purchased it I started refurbishing the guesthouse. Now that it is completed I think it is one of the nicest properties on the wine trail.

The property will sleep a maximum of 16 people, or can be rented to separate parties in the main house and guesthouse.

  • Both Bathrooms have a handicap accessible shower, toilet, and sink. The house is equipped with a tankless hot water heater and endless hot water for your enjoyment.

  • The Buck and Doe rooms are very similar. The Buck Room is the more masculine of the two bedrooms in the cabin, and the Doe Room is decorated to be more feminine.. It has a queen size bed, sitting area, and a large corner jetted tub. It also features it's own bathroom with a shower.

Beautiful cabin. Cozy and comfortable.

Great couple getaway!

This was our first time using VRBO, and we couldn’t have been happier with this cabin! The cabin is very clean and beautiful. There are even deer that walk right up to the property! The location is great as well. Four wineries are within 5 miles. Panoma winery was about 45 minutes away and Carbondale 30 minutes away. Steve was quick to respond to anything we had questions about prior to our weekend getaway. We had a great time this weekend, and have already talked about coming back this summer or fall!

Can't beat the Toolshed Corner Guest Cabin

If you are looking for a centrally located residence to enable you to tour the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail and hike in the Shawnee National Forest, the Toolshed Corner Guest Cabin is the place to stay. On two occasions this year we have enjoyed the hospitality provided by Steve, the owner. His responsiveness to questions about the cabin or the area has always been quick and helpful. The cabin is well equipped and supplied with everything you might want or need for a very comfortable stay. It is convenient to many of the area's hiking destinations, locations along the wine trail are nearby and the Vienna Diner is right down the road and serves breakfast all day if you are tired of cooking.

Great cabin in So IL

Perfect Getaway!

The Toolshed was perfect for 2 couples. Each with private bedroom/bath and seating area with common area in-between. Nice views from the deck and star gazing at night was spectacular. Convenient to wineries and zip lining and the highway. Steve has thought of many of the nice little amenities that tend to be overlooked and very responsive before and during our stay if we had any questions. Would definitely consider renting again for another long weekend in Southern Illinois!
