Situated in Karaka Bay, a small community on a private beach in Glendowie, you hear no traffic, unless you count the ferry going past.
Instead, you hear tuis flitting about the large Pohutakawa trees over the water, the local morepork owls and the water washing onto the beach.
To get into this idyllic location, one must park your car on a small culdesac and walk for a couple of minutes under a canopy of old growth trees until you reach the waters edge. This walk is a portal from the city and suburbia to your own little paradise.
Here, kids can roam freely with no traffic to worry about. You can drag a kayak from the garage down to the beach in 10 seconds and you can entertain and prepare feasts either up on the gorgeous deck or down on the picnic tables on the beach.
Sheltered from the trade winds by a cliff behind the beach, this little paradise becomes almost tropical during the summer.
If you at all manage to drag yourself from this oasis, the local hub is St Heliers, a beautiful waterside town which offers fantastic dining, cafes and walks.
The house itself is a mix between artistic, classic and modern. With heat pumps, wifi, sound system and a modern kitchen.
We invite you to Karaka Bay. Experience living on the ocean in paradise without leaving the city.
