Our 3 level duplex home is located near downtown Vancouver (5 minute drive) and is only 4 blocks from the lively Commercial Drive. The large living space on the ground floor has 10ft ceilings with a deluxe 6 person hot-tub located on the backyard secluded patio. The master bedroom on the third floor has vaulted ceilings and a king size bed with a memory foam mattress. The guest room has a queen bed and the kids room has bunk beds that sleep two and a pullout sofa double bed with memory foam mattress top that sleeps another 2. Parking can be easily be found on the street in front of our home.

About Michael

We're a family of 5 plus our beloved dog Monty. We lived in this duplex home for 7 years from 2008 to 2015.

Why Michael chose Vancouver

We wanted to live close to downtown Vancouver and really enjoyed the Commercial Drive area. My wife is Czech and loved the european feel there of many shops and restaurants.

What makes this house unique

We feel that this home is perfectly situated to give guests easy access to the many areas of Vancouver. Downtown, BC Place, Roger's Arena, Chinatown, Commercial Drive, and Main street are all short distances away. You also have quick access to North Vancouver and the highway to get to and from the city. In regards to the home itself, we've always been hot tub people so we feel that our hot tub makes our home unique amongst most rentals in the city.

Amazing home close to Downtown Vancouver!

We had a warm welcome from the onsite host and an overall great stay at this home. The duplex comfortably fit 6 people and the home was beautiful. We spent most of our time exploring downtown Vancouver which was a quick 10 minute car ride. There were also a handful of cute restaurants and bars within walking distance of the home. I would definitely stay here again!

Great escape!

Huge thanks to the rental managers who were super flexible and accessible!

We traveled with four adults. The home has 3 bedrooms -- and one of the bedrooms has a bunk bed. This would have been a deal-breaker for us, BUT -- the owner also added a futon to the room! This was PERFECT as none of us adults were thrilled about sleeping in a bunk. (;

It's a three level home (bathrooms on EVERY floor) but if you're not a fan of stairs, this isn't the rental for you. We, on the other hand, didn't mind it! And having three levels gave us privacy and quiet down-time when needed.

Another fantastic feature was that every bedroom has it's own temperature control! Again... traveling with 4 adults... this was an amazing bonus feature as everyone has their own temperature comfort level! (=

The street parking is a little unpredictable. (Street parking is zoned for residents.) Would have been AMAZING if guests could also use resident parking, but this wasn't a deal-breaker. We just had to park and walk a little bit further.

The open floorplan on the first level was perfect for gathering together every morning and evening. A little private backyard deck was also a bonus (especially if you are traveling with a dog.)

Owner's Response: Thanks for your positive review! I felt the need to clarify the parking situation. We've since added a parking section to our home guide that includes the following information (with a map). It is possible to park on the street nearly directly in front of our home, it's just that half of the block on the north side, and the other half on the south side are for residents. You just need to be mindful of the dividing sign that instructs which side residents can only park on. That being said, these areas are sometimes full, and it's required to park further away. I just felt from your review that you felt the entire block of Odlum in front of the house was off-limits for non-residents, which is not the case. Anyways, glad you enjoyed your stay at our home.

Great weekend stay

My friends and I had a great stay at Michael's house. The house was just as advertised and comfortably slept 7 adults. The living area was spacious, the house was clean and had everything that we needed for the weekend.

You should stay here! Centrally-located, spacious and well-appointed home for 5 adults

Five adults stayed at the property for 8 nights in October and it was wonderful! The online listing represents the house well...great common area space (outside, kitchen and living room) but plenty of rooms in the 3 bedrooms to have some separate space for privacy. We would absolutely stay here again...and highly recommend it to others. The safe neighborhood is great for an authentic Vancouver experience with only a 10 minute walk to cafes and restaurants on Commercial Drive...and about 25 minutes to the Sky Train (the sky train was less convenient for us as we focused on downtown activities so it was easier to take the bus). The bus stop is less than 5 minutes from the house and after a day of getting used to the routes it was pretty seamless to get around. Easy commute into downtown (15 minutes) and to other areas of the city (we did not have a car and did not feel limited by not having one). One recommendation: if depending on public transport without an international data plan, check out the TransLink website before the trip and print off a map of the routes...there are NO printed route maps offered by the city, TransLink or the Tourism Office. That said, we never had too many issues navigating the city as every person in Vancouver was SO HELPFUL...from the bus drivers, to those in the service industry to random Vancouver residents...everyone seemed to be willing to help ensure that guests to the city have a great impression when they leave!!

Michael was easy to work with in answering any questions before we arrived and very prompt in returning the deposit. Check-in was easy. There was a great check-in document that helped with local information to get orientated. House was clean, comfortable with a well-stocked kitchen to cook the few meals we stayed in for. Also, if you enjoy local breweries...this is a great, central location to be able to visit them (with a few within 5 minutes walking distance...and even more a short bus ride away)!!

A couple recommendations: Yolk Commission, Café Medina, Jam Café for breakfast. East is East (on Main Str), Bao Bei Chinese, Biercraft Tap and Tapas Bar (on Commercial), Tacofino for dinner. Breweries: Strangefellows, Bomber, Brassneck, 33 Acres (don't miss this one) and Main Street. And...go to Lynn Canyon Park while in the city!!

(Note: the only reason I am not mentioning the hot tub was that we never found the time to use it...but it was sure nice to have the option).
