About Larry and Mary

We have lived in North Hero for over 30 years. Mary is a school teacher for the last 25 years and currently teaches in South Burlington VT. I'm an airline pilot flying the B-787 in the international route structure of the Pacfic and Atlantic.

I'm also an avid Sea Plane pilot and own one.

When we vacation we usually rent homes that we find through Homeaway. This has allowed us to be on both sides of renting a vacation home for a week. We have tried to add and design what we would want into our vacation homes. Please check out our other property which is listed in the notes.

We also enjoy meeting those we rent to and have made many new friends and look forward to making many more.

Larry and Mary purchased this house in 2015

Why Larry and Mary chose Lake Champlain Islands

This property is built to give an Adirondack/Post & Beam experience with multiple high decks.

All decks/porch have a waterfront view.

If your a bird watcher, there are Bald Eagles, Osprey, Red Tail Hawks, Loons & Blue Herons and many smaller birds that can be seen.

What makes this house unique

Custom made beds with cedar post & large pine help accent the adrondack feeling. Addtionally a large custom made dinning table and a tiki bar. Live edge large pine boards are also used in the pantry, closets and kitchen.

Having a boat launch on site makes this property stand out for the boater.

Boat launch & protected part of the lake adds to the attractiveness of the property. Wildlife in many different forms completes this waterfront setting.

Excellent place

  • 5 of 5

Our recent stay was excellent. The house was well equipped, great location, clean and highly functional. The owners are great and very responsive to any questions that come up and I would highly recommend staying here. We plan on doing so again and look forward to it. Very nice place and well worth the cost as the owners are very fair in their fees and how they handle everything. Don't pass this one up.

Adirondack Gem in North Hero, Vermont

  • 5 of 5

This property is everything that is represented, and more. The newly constructed, Adirondack style home, offers generous indoor and outdoor living area – easily accommodating our family of 8 with space to spare. The house is clean, well appointed, and its location at the end of a private road, while not secluded, is reasonably private.

Water access is great with both a sturdy dock that was perfect for our two jet skis, with the added benefit of being able to launch our boats right from the property.

Beautiful, relaxing atmosphere!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful home on Lake Champlain. The sun rises and sun sets were incredible. The fishing was great and the lake was warm enough for swimming. The owner of the property was gracious and cordial. The home is very spacious and can accommodate a large family/group.

This property is beautiful. Newly constructed with plenty of room. We were a family group of six adults and two children and found it spacious. I did feel restricted in that we were limited in number of visitors. This vacation brought me back to Vermont where many of my family lives, and even though there would have been plenty of room to have family visit for dinner there were restrictions that did not allow us to do so. For us this was a significant drawback.

This year the water was low in the lake so we really could not swim in the area, fortunately the kids were happy searching for frogs and minnows.

We had nice weather for our stay, but were unable to leaving sliding doors open due to lack of screen doors. We also would recommend adding linens to the package instead of charging extra. For someone traveling to Vermont it would make no sense to haul towels and sheets.

Owner's Response: Appreciate your input! We also book vacations on HOMEAWAY. We have tried to provide this new property with what we believe are good practices by others who own property they rent. Limiting the amount of total people on a property is normal and enhances the privacy that our properties offer while still allowing access by family and friends who are not staying. This house is built with plenty of room for more people, as you mentioned. We also provide more beds than the maximum amount of people allowed. Our properties are designed this way to offer multiple choices for sleeping accommodations. Hopefully enhancing your stay with us! We did add multiple sliding doors with this property to offer more outdoor access. We did choose not to put screens on these doors. Multiple traffic by adults, kids and pets on vacation have proven to be no match for them. To counter this, one room has 7 of the 10 windows with screens and the other two rooms have AC to precisely control the temperature in your bedroom. These two bedroom sliders have the new high tech integrated internal blinds in them to allow between maximum lake view and 100% privacy. We do provide a linens & towel package available for purchase. Approximately 5-10% of our guest use this option like you did. We believe giving our customers the option to purchase, keeps with our philosophy of giving our renters options. It also allows for cost savings for our renters who do not require this option. Thank you for sharing your input. We are always looking for ways to enhance our customers stay. Larry & Mary

The perfect place for a family gathering!

  • 5 of 5

Larry and Mary have created a beautiful getaway that lives up to everything promised and more. We spent a great family week in North Hero with 3 generations present from out of state. All were reticent to leave the house because it was so comfortable! Plenty of elbow room, a great kitchen/ family room with a mighty table able to seat 10+, ample porch space, and comfortable bedrooms. The fishing and fire pit area was also a big hit.

We hope to be back!
