As you plan your trip to the mountains, please remember we do get rain, snow, ice, and some foggy days and occasional inconveniences which are out of our control. Winter weather in the Blue Ridge Mountains can occur from November through April. The majority of our homes are accessed by mountain roads, which will be ICY AND SLICK in the winter months. For the safety of you and your party, PLEASE be prepared to drive in snow and ice. This means 4-wheel drive/AWD, good tires, and/or chains. It is your responsibility to be prepared for hazardous road conditions. THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS, ALLOWANCES, OR DATE CHANGES RESULTING FROM YOUR NEGLIGENCE IN THIS MATTER.
Loved this cabin, beautiful and clean and lovely decorated. Private location. Loved visiting the town of West Jefferson and Boone. Only reason it didn't get 5 stars was you need 4 wheel drive to get in and out of the driveway and the weather was fine. It's a very steep lose gravel road. My car got stuck on the hill and got damaged by the tree trying to get out. Be sure to have 4 wheel drive or park at the top of the hill.
The cabin was clean, well furnished, and a joy to visit. My wife fell in love with the king size bed, my 2 sons (16 and 23) spent quite a bit of time playing pool, and the front deck was wonderful to sit on sipping coffee. We were only there in the early mornings and evenings/nights as the daytime was spent out at various venues, but it felt like home when coming in and grilling supper and relaxing. Overall I couldn't have asked for a better experience. This will stay on our short list for when we come back to the area. The road in was interesting, and would absolutely require 4 wheel drive in the winter weather, but we didn't have any problems in my rear wheel drive truck for the time of year and weather we had.
The cabin is beautiful and very nicely furnished. It is well kept and was very clean upon our arrival. All bedrooms have very comfortable beds. Fresh linens and towels is definitely a plus. My husband and son thoroughly enjoyed the pool table! There is even a hiking trail leading away from the property - a short hike but the beds of wild ferns make it worthwhile.
I would make one recommendation. Please purchase some casserole dishes. There are none in the cabin to use for baking in the oven. We had to purchase disposable ones. We would rent this property again.
