Overview

Photos and Description of this Blenheim holiday farmhouse

Farmstay, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathrooms, (Sleeps 3)

Come stay at Dusk til Dawn Forrest.

A 1949 Bedford Bus sits on a ridge running East-West 800ft above sea level. Incredible panoramic views; south over Blenheim, Marlbourough Vineyards, Warau Plains, Wither Hills to Mount Tapuae-o-enuku out to Cloudy Bay and Cook Straight. Then across to the northeast looks up the Pukaka Valley past organic nature, bush, pine plantation, and onto Mount Robinson. West is Warau Plains, Pine Plantation, and a gorgeous sunset.

Stay in our 1949 refinished Bedford Bus with a double bed, and sofa bed. The bus can sleep 2 adults comfortably. If needed, an attached retro caravan is next door with a single bed for 2 kids or 1 adult.

Fresh flowers, free range eggs, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and much more will be provided for our guests during their visit.

We take pride in our self sufficient property, and would like to share this rare experience with travelers who want a chance to get away and enjoy the simpler pleasures in life.

Enjoy a heated fireplace, a fully supplied kitchen with two gas rings for cooking. Other amenities such as dish and hand soap, toilet paper, paper towels, tea towels, dishes, cups, pots, pans, olive oil, salt/pepper, sugar, tea, coffee, and hot chocolate are all provided.

Please note that this is a simple living experience, we only have a compost toilet for guests nearby the bus. The shower and toilet are close by and very clean. There is hot water for the shower and kitchen sink, but we encourage using what we need rather than wasting. We collect all our own water and try to preserve it as much as possible.

We are located in Pukaka Valley, our address is not listed for this site because we are literally off the grid.

Once confirmation has been completed and you have been in contact with us, we will provide directions from where you are headed.

Gavin and I had the best time at Sunny and Lou's paradise.

Gavin and I had the best time at Sunny and Lou's paradise. The bus was divine, the shower was incredible and the dogs, chooks and pigs were the icing on the cake.

Lou and Sunny are pioneers.

  • 4 of 5

Lou and Sunny are pioneers. They have built this property from scratch doing all the work themselves. The bus is rustic but comfortable. On a beautiful piece of land, it was like living in the sky for a week. The 5km of well maintained gravel road was a challenge initially, but the uniqueness of this property, the bus and our hosts made this a memorable stay. We booked for 4 days but stayed 7. That says it all.

We felt priviledged to be one of Lou and Sunny's first guests .

  • 5 of 5

We felt priviledged to be one of Lou and Sunny's first guests . We stayed in the campervan with our kids who are 1 and 3 years old and everyone loved it. The van is very nicely refurbished with small things that make it perfect (a nice bouquet, some eggs, a hot shower...). It's very comfortable and we cooked a delicious meal on the gas stove. The view is amazing and on a night with a new moon, the stars must be incredible. I can't recommend this place more if a cozy campervan is your thing!
