This secure building was completely rebuilt in 2010 and our apartment is completely furnished with everything to make your stay comfortable. It is located on Calle Sarandi which has been converted into a wonderful pedestrian walk with a wide variety of restaurants, shops including a wine shop across the street and venders selling local crafts. The location is easy walking distance to Plaza Independencia, Teatro Solis, the Mercado (famous for fabulous grilled meat), the port with ferry connections to Buenos Aires, many kilometers of great beaches, and much more. Building amenities include a rooftop barbecue, rooftop spa, exercise room, and laundry facilities. A cell phone is also provided for guests to use during their visit. The building has a doorman and all visitors are greeted by our property manager to introduce the apartment and make sure everything is in good order.
Inside the apartment there is a well-equipped kitchen, living room with leather sofa, cable TV, private wifi internet, queen bed with new memory foam mattress, and modern bath with shower and bidet.
All photos are of places within easy walking distance of the apartment.
Here is part of an email we received from another delighted guest. We received this before posting this listing and it is not in the reviews so here it is:
We just returned from our trip to Uruguay and we wanted to touch basis to say a special “Thank You” for making our stay at your most wonderful Casa Sarandi. We so very much appreciated all the great information about the condo and sightseeing in Montevideo. Your place is one of the nicest condos we’ve stayed at. It’s very modern, the attention to detail with décor, the quality and so very comfortable furnishings and extremely well equipped kitchen made being there totally delightful. We loved the charm and history of this city, from the beautiful rambla, to the sights and history of the city.
We loved the convenience in terms of shopping, sightseeing and the many restaurants and café located nearby. We walked everywhere and explored many attractions and have lots of pictures for memory sake.
Thank you so very much for everything and without a doubt Casa Sarandi is a Five Star place.
We try to spend 1-2 months a year here and have furnished this as our home. We are happy to share and hope you will enjoy it also!
Greetings! Our names are Don and Kathie Huster. We live in Albany, Oregon in the U.S. Don is an electrical engineer and Kathie is an executive assistant. We enjoy traveling and experiencing new places and the people who live there. Even though we are not fluent in the all of the languages of places we have visited, it is usually surprising how far visitors can get with a little effort in the local language, a smile, and good attitude :)
Don & Kathie Huster purchased this apartment in 2012
We rented our apartment in 2012 and then discovered that the owners wanted to sell it. We were impressed because it was clean and everything worked. Although the style is modern, it is located on Calle Sarandi, a pedestrian street in the Old City (Ciudad Vieja) which has great character and lots of wonderful old European-style architecture. There are numerous restaurants in all price ranges, shopping, and many other amenities within easy walking distance. Bus service to everywhere in the city is just a few blocks away and a car is really not necessary. It is a great location to relax and also use as a home base for exploring Montevideo and beyond.
As mentioned above, the apartment is modern, comfortable, clean, and everything works. At the same time it is in a great location to experience the character of the city.
We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely apartment in Ciudad Vieja. It is exactly as described - a modern, comfortable retreat in a great location! We walked almost everywhere; it's close to just about everything you want to see in this part of town. This is an interesting area - a curious mix of tourists and business people, as government buildings and many banks are located here. Makes for some fun people watching!
The building is nicely maintained, and we loved the self service laundry facilities (had a hard time getting laundry done in Punta del Este). The staff are wonderful, and many speak English (which we found to be the exception in Uruguay). The apartment is beautifully furnished, and the kitchen is a dream - I don't think my own kitchen is that well equipped! We really appreciated this, as we were on an extended trip and didn't eat out as often as we otherwise would.
I very highly recommend this apartment! If Old Town is where you want to be I can't imagine a better accommodation!
Thank you Don and Kathie!
The perfect accommodation for our stay in Montevideo. The apartment was sleek and well-appointed, as described. Location was ideal, easy walk to shops, museums, waterfront. We were even able to hire Uber for rides to farther away parts of the city. We really appreciated the A/C, coffee machine, and the friendly and helpful staff. Jacinto, right across the street, was excellent for coffee or a meal. The #2 rated restaurant, LA Petite Cuisine, was fantastic for a lunch, right around the corner. There was even a convenient laundry in the building, perfect for travelers who had been on the road for a couple of weeks. Nice experience!
