I was given the task of finding a 2 bd, 2 bth apt with parking in our price range. I found 4 and sent inquiries to the owners. This owner was the only one to contact me to answer my question! When he says this is his business, he really means it. He goes above and beyond to make sure his "customers" are happy. He gave me his email and telephone and he was always prompt and courteous when returning my calls. It was this level of professionalism that was the deciding factor when booking the Diversey House. We initially wanted downtown's famous view but now I'm so glad we got into Lincoln Park's quiet neighborhood. Lincoln Park is full of 20 and 30 somethings all bustling on their way to work or the gym, young families with kids, and lots of shops and restaurants. We always felt completely safe and the people in the beautifully kept surrounding neighborhoods (where the free parking is) are friendly and helpful. Speaking of parking, the free parking is not on-site but we were always able to find free street parking in the free zone just 2 blocks over and there was always a metered spot open right in front of the door for unloading our treasures at the end of every day. The apt itself is perfectly situated only a 5 min drive to the on-ramp to Lake Shore Drive. We could get to museum campus in 10-15 min of easy driving door-to-door. There were oodles of restaurants within walking distance, including some of the most famous in the city such as Batter and Berries just around the corner. So let's get to the apt. The outside and inside doors were both a keypad entry which was a relief to not have to keep track of one more thing. The apt has everything you could want, including shampoo and conditioner dispensers, tiny soaps, earplugs (even though it's a quiet neighborhood, I used them for my roommate) and other touches I was surprised to find in a house. But the best was a whole binder about the apt, the neighborhood, the transit system, how to contact the owner, etc. It was like a very professional FAQ binder with color pictures and we used it several times! The apt is like a mirror image of itself with the bds and bths being at opposite ends and the great room being in the middle. It was nice to have the kids at one end and us at the other! The bathrooms were very nice and the water pressure was great. The TV was easy enough to figure out but I wish there had been a dvd player. The kitchen was big and well stocked. We will definitely stay here again!

Great location and amenities. Very dirty and not clean.

  • 2 of 5

The good:

*great location

*great configuration. Two bedrooms, two baths, Kitchen

*didn't even use parking passes b/c of great free parking.

The bad:

*showers very dirty. Many used soaps from many previous guests in shower (ick!)

*made the mistake of moving the couch cushions. Found a remote and a disgusting amount of crumbs, pills and other crap.

*makes me wonder if beds are really getting changed or just getting made between guests.

*Emailed owner about my concerns afterwards but no response so now I am leaving a review.

Fantastic location in Chicago. Lots of fund stuff to do and very walkable. Safe neighborhood and lots of free parking. Apartment had good amenities and arrangement.

However, the cleanliness of the apartment left me a bit disgusted. I wouldn't stay here again.

I stayed here with 7 friends over a weekend in Chicago to attend a big event at Montrose Beach that we go to every year. This home was excellent in all respects. We had comfortable beds, it was conveniently located, clean, and well maintained. We will likely look to stay here when we come back to Chicago next year.

Okay..good location

  • 3 of 5

We loved the location. There's a high chair, stroller, and a pack and play for people with kids - nice touch although we'd brought our own because we didn't know that. The home was well furnished but wasn't all that clean. There were crumbs all over the inside of the fridge (a lot) and others peoples hair on the towels. I brought the dirty fridge to the managers attention within 24 hours but nothing was done. They also have a rule of what the temp on the thermostat can be and it's locked within a certain range...I was freezing the whole time.
