This wonderful Pied A Tierre Is a South Facing English Basement Unit Located in a Quiet residential Neighborhood of Capitol Hill. Merely five blocks from the Eastern market Metro !

It was currently and tastefully remolded and decorated by the current owners over the last couple of years, combing the best of the old and the new in this charming space. This beautiful South Facing flat features its own washer and dryer, recessed lightning, exposed brick walls. It has a dining room table in the living space that seats four and a great flat screen television in the living room.

You will enjoy walking to Eastern market on the weekends and will delight in the myriad of vendors selling thier wares. Perhaps an evening stroll to one of the fabulous restaurants of Eight Street? Maybe a swim in the Indoor Swimming Pool at Eastern market? Only a few minutes away.

Have the ultimate experience of living like a local Washingtonian with all the delights of the city.

Clean & cozy, safe neighborhood, comfy bed, short walk to MetroRail, responsive property manager

We were very pleased with the location and accommodations of this newly renovated 1BR apartment, which is in the basement of an adorable row house. It was very secure with its own entrance, and the neighborhood gardens were lovely to pass by on our 10-minute walk to the MetroRail at Eastern Market and Trader Joe's. We felt very safe. The best thing about our stay was the king-sized bed. I have back and sleep issues, so I was concerned about the mattress, but even after extensive walking all over DC for a week, I rested comfortably and didn't wake up with a stiff back. It was super comfy, and I would love to know what kind of mattress was on the bed so I can get one for myself! The kitchen was well-stocked with cooking supplies, and everything was very clean. Others have commented negatively on the shower handle, but once you figured out how to operate it, it worked just fine. The large handle adjusts the amount of water, and the knob in the middle adjusts the temperature. My cousin joined us for the last few days and slept comfortably on the fold-out bed (The back lays down, and it's a little tricky to figure out. The queen size sheets are in the closet, and the property manager responded promptly to our request for a blanket.) Parking is on the street and is $50 extra for a parking permit. We didn't have any problem finding a nearby space.

There were really only a few issues for us. One was the closet door track(s), which was hanging loose, and the door fell off. They could put more hangers in the closets, as there isn't a dresser in the bedroom either. The other is the noise of people and pets walking around upstairs during normal sleeping hours. I mentioned this to the property manager, and the noise lessened after that, so I assume he mentioned it to the upstairs tenants. One afternoon during a hard downpour, the concrete floor flooded. I only mention this to say I called the property manager, and he sent a crew right over to mop up the floor. They discovered the drain outside the back door was covered with leaves, and they cleared it out and vacuumed up the water in short order. I think this was a freak event, and the maintenace crew was super nice and quick about responding to our plea for help. The AC in the living room didn't work as well as the one in the bedroom. These were minor inconveniences, and we would definitely stay there again!

Great location

Property needs some tender loving care. Closet door broken. 2 chairs broken and concrete flooring leaves something to be desired. Be careful on asking for parking pass. I was given vendor name, I emailed them, however no one ever responded.

Very happy to have found this 3 room apartment for the price of a moderate hotel room!!

Was great as a basement apartment in a quiet, well cared for, safe neighborhood, very near the Mall and DC attractions. The apartment had natural lighting, was clean, no odors, had cleaning and paper supplies. Kitchen was complete, had some spices; need to purchase all food/cooking supplies. Trader Joe's grocery .6 mi, Safeway grocery 1.2 mi, also 7-11 about 3 blocks. Floor is painted concrete, so bring slippers...entry is 5 steps down with a 1/4 turn; but has a very sturdy hand rail.

Internet connection and flatscreen TV/ basic cable were great!

New: has detachable combo shower head and hand held, with improved adjusting hot/cold mix, good between 3 o'clock and 5 o'clock positions.

Back door has a handle lock and the dead bolt does work if you pull up on the door handle to throw the bolt.

The beds and linens were comfortable, having the washer/dryer was great, less to pack!

Neighbors upstairs with any children: can be heard when running back and forth.

Very happy to have stayed here.

Wonderful location and great apartment

Just blocks away from everything I wanted to get to in a terrific neighborhood. Unlike most basement rentals, this apartment has some natural light and is laid out as a square instead of a skinny rectangle, which made it feel more like home. Access to the patio in back created a sense of vast, useable space. This place is now our preferred rental when visiting DC.

Fine but not Refined

We just completed a 10 night stay visiting family in the area. We visit several times a year and like to try different Capitol Hill rentals in this wonderful neighborhood. This property offered everything we needed but when compared to other spaces in previous stays or rented by other family members, this one fell short. The painted concrete floors were cold, the entry was narrow and dark, the faucet in the shower was difficult to set to usable temperature, the back door didn't deadbolt. When the internet didn't work, I sent an email to ask for help. The response was that it did work and no accommodation would be made.

We'll try another place next time.

Owner's Response: The backdoor has a regular lock, deadbolt that works and also a dead-bolted gate even though it's not needed as this is a very safe location. Internet is great high speed comcast wifi. This guest tried to blackmail me into a refund with threats of this review, guess I do not respond to threats!
