Bedrooms 3
Space 125 m²
Property type villa
Minimum Stay 1 - 7 nights

About the property

Sleeps 6. 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, illuminated gardens, air conditioning

This charming summer holiday home occupies a peaceful, elevated position near the medieval perched village of Montauroux and has magnificent views down towards the Mediterranean coast. Both sunrise and moonrise are visible from our balconies! The private pool area basks in sun, while cool garden terraces catch breezes and allow you to relax or eat in the shade. From here you can easily explore the villages of Provence, visit the perfume capital at Grasse, the beautiful valley of the Siagne river, the clear lake of St Cassien, the wonderful Cote d'Azur beaches, Cannes, Nice or the Gorges du Verdon. The villa has a large, high living room and a dining room to seat six, opening on to a big covered terrace for drinks, meals and gatherings. All these rooms share the lovely views. The kitchen is large, white and custom -fitted to a high standard and excellently-equipped. There are two double bedrooms, one with en-suite bathroom, a third, twin, bedroom and two more bathrooms with shower.

The Villa: Maison Jasmin: We fell in love with this villa in the first 5 minutes and bought it the same afternoon, three years ago. We hope you will love it as much as we do. If you have children and teenagers we know it works for them too. This is a family home and we invite you to enjoy it as a base from which to explore the many delights of the surrounding area. It has been thoughtfully furnished, and provides a variety of sitting and eating areas on balconies and on garden terraces which are lit at night. Start the day with croissants on the breakfast terrace watching the sun rise across the valley. After a day spent being as adventurous and active- or as lazy- as you like, round it off dining al fresco watching the moon and stars and the lights of the villages and distant firework displays while you listen for nightingales, frogs and sometimes wild boar. Maison Jasmin is named after the scented jasmine in our gardens that flowers in summer and sends out a heady perfume at night.

The Area: All you need for your stay can be bought in the village superette 5 minutes away, or the big supermarket, at ten minutes drive. The surrounding private domain is scenic for a pre- dinner stroll, with tennis courts you can hire . Five minutes away at the huge freshwater Lac St Cassien, you can swim, canoe, sail, ramble or fish, then picnic or lunch in a lakeview restaurant. The surrounding countryside is lovely for walks, horse riding, mountain biking (if you do hills) or gliding. A string of 'perched' medieval villages , such as Montauroux, Callian, Tourrettes, Fayence, St Cezaire and Mons, is scattered along the hilltops. Each has lovely views and friendly restaurants. Golfers can choose from 10 courses in the area, including the spectacular new one at Four Seasons, down the road. There is a huge range of music, art, drama, film and cultural festivals, from the local to the international ones at Cannes and Nice, as well as the Monte Carlo rally and Monaco Grand Prix.

Day trips and childrens' activities: Nearest beaches: La Napoule or Cannes La Bocca (30 mins) : Frejus (40 mins).

Aquatica, a large water park at Frejus, with flumes etc. Take a picnic for the day out.

Marineland, Antibes, has an aquarium with dolphins, killer whales etc. and an Aqua Park in summer months.

Boat Trips go from Cannes port to the Iles de Lerins off the coast, St Tropez or around the Esterel Coast. Also from St Raphael port to St Tropez. (Avoids the traffic!)

Take the coastal train to/from Nice, or from Nice up into Digne les Bains in the mountains. Very scenic, and cooler.

Visit caves with stalagmites and stalactites at St Cezaire. Also quite cool.

Visit the spectacular gorges du Verdon, the largest gorge in Europe. Walk, canoe, kayak or white-water raft it, starting from Castellane– go early.

In winter, the ski slopes start one hour away and the Alps beckon.

We have an apartment in Serre Chevalier if you are serious about skiing or hiking the Alps.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Our family holidayed for the first time in Maison Jasmin in the summer of 2010. We chose the property from the website and were obviously slightly nervous whether the house would actually match the description on the site. We need not have worried; the property far exceeded all our expectations: it was tastefully furnished, spacious and very clean. The kitchen was very well stocked: no broken crockery or mismatching glasses here! The nights we decided to stay in and cook, we never felt that something was missing, the kitchen was perfect! The entire house had a real feeling of homeliness attached to it and it was obvious that the owners had gone to great lengths to ensure that their quests felt comfortable. The house also has a little one bedroom apartment in the basement (with views) which is ideal if you are intending to have family or friends over. The pool was clean and we spent a lot of time there. Also, Anette and Evelyn were always very friendly and helpful.

We were happily surprised to discover that the property is very private. We could not see into anyone else s garden which meant that we could not be seen either. The views from the balcony over the Esterel Mountains were spectacular and we never got tired of sitting outside admiring the views over a glass of delicious local wine!

When we started thinking about holidays for the summer 2011 we didn t have to think too hard. Maison Jasmin is for us a wonderful haven in the Provence and we can t wait to be back next summer.

Cute house but watch out for the ground floor

  • 3 of 5

Cute house with nice views and pool and a great first floor veranda. Our kids stayed on the ground floor. The rooms here smelled very musty throughout the stay. The house appears reasonably private with few direct sight lines. There are other properties close by and one can hear their guests. Montauroux was very nice and the location was super convenient for wandering the Côte d'Azur. Overall not quite the value nor service we expected for what we paid, even by local standards, but nice enough.

From the moment we arrived we loved this place, the views, the gite (with everything you could possibly need), pool, location and surroundings were just perfect.

Montauroux was about a 10 mins drive away but a beautiful village, a big supermarket again 10 mins drive away with local restaurants nearby (not walking distance though). Lunch at the belle vue in Callian was just outstanding.

Would definitely recommend Jasmin as a place to stay, we didn't want to leave, and hopefully one day we'll return.

A delightful property, great views.

  • 5 of 5

This property was offered as our first choice was unavailable... what a stroke of luck!! It is very well maintained, is secluded yet not far from the local facilities. It has a sunny aspect in which to lounge around the welcoming pool. There are areas in the garden that offer shade during the heat of the day.

The local restaurants offer a variety of standards; our personal favourites were Carré D'Ange (don't be fooled by the street view picture on Google) and Moulin de la Camandoule both of which offer a true "fine dining" experience.

I would have no hesitation in recommending this property to anyone who wishes to take a relaxing break in this part of Provence.

Relaxing Break

  • 5 of 5

Our visit to Maison Jasmine was planned as a place to relax and unwind and this charming villa did not disapoint. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, designed for easy living. Much of the time was spent on the wide verandas, which run along two sides of the property, enjoying a meal and admiring the spectacular views down the valley. We soon fell into an easy routine of exploring the surrounding countryside in the morning and relaxing around the pool in the afternoon. Late afternoons were spent following the setting sun, taking tea at one of the many seating areas in the garden. The warm evenings found us once again on the verandas or visiting one of the delightful "Perched Villages" in search of a place to eat.

The location of the villa enabled us to visit a number of places of interest including the spectacular Gorges du Verdun, the limestone caves above the River Siagne, the perfumeries of Grasse and the Grand Prix Circuit in Monte Carlo.

The whole pace of life engendered a sense of contentment and well being and Maison Jasmine is definitely on our list of places to re-visit.

Breathtaking views

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful place to stay and the organisation made arriving, the stay and leaving incredibly hassle free.

Very much as described, although nothing prepares you for the aromas and sounds.

Montauroux and the surrounding areas make this a place we will come back to again and again.

Looking forward to relaxing by the pool with a glass of something next year!

Lovely House in a Lovely Location

  • 5 of 5

We had a marvellous spring week at your lovely house. We especially appreciated the long-distance views, which we learned stretch all the way to the coast. Our long lazy lunches on the terrace listening to the birds (and nothing else!) were really memorable. The mimosa blossom was still out, which made for dramatic splashes of yellow on the hillsides.

The house itself feels very traditional - especially the massive fireplace, which we did use on a couple of eveinings. It is very well equippped & very comfortable - especially the kitchen. You've thought of everything for the visitor. We particularly liked the way the garden has several separate sitting areas to suit the different times of the day.

It was spotlessly clean, everything was prepared for us, and your very efficient agent welcomed us and showed us how things worked, so we were able to begin planning our sightseeing on the very first evening with the aid of all the information on the area you had thoughtfully provided.

There's certainly plenty to do in the area: we visited the surrounding villages, sampled perfumes in Grasse & walked on the coast between Cannes & Antibes. The Esterel hills near the coast looked inviting, as did the nearby Lake St Cassien, but we'll have to leave them for next time!

Thank you for a very relaxing week.

Montauroux is in a favored part of Provence close to the Italian border, sheltered by the foothills of the Alps and by the protecting mountains to the north. It therefore enjoys one of the most benign climates of all France: cooler in the hot summer, and protected from the Mistral winds later in the year. Rich in history, heritage and culture, music, arts and local crafts, this area offers unspoiled and charming medieval Provencal villages and markets, olive oil, lavender, vines, wonderful cuisine and wines. The countryside is covered in oaks, rosemary and mimosa, and is beautifully aromatic. Roses and carnations for the perfume distillers in Grasse are still produced around here, and there are numerous nature reserves. However, if you like, within 40 minutes you can hit the sophisticated high spots or fun beaches of the Cote d'Azur: Nice, Cannes, Antibes, Agay, Theoule and the rest. Rent a lounger for a day and 'do lunch' on the beach, or cycle the length of Nice promenade. Enjoy!
