About this property

Thatched farmhouse with large garden a few minutes' walk from a stunning beach

Esther's Field is a stunning 17th-century granite house with thatched roof set into the hillside above the beautiful white sands of Sennen Cove with fantastic views of the beach and sea from almost every window.

Recently completely refurbished, it has 4 bedrooms (all with large beds and white bedlinen : two superking size beds, two singles and one bunk comprising two singles), 4 bathrooms (3 shower rooms and one with both bath and shower), two sitting rooms (both with wood-burning stoves and TV and DVD) and a well-equipped farmhouse kitchen with Rayburn as well as an induction hob and electric oven. The house feels spacious and relaxing - you will enjoy complete peace and seclusion, while still being within walking distance of everything.
The house sits in an acre of private garden with a large central lawn, a gated wildflower meadow, an upper garden, a hidden garden and many little paths and areas to explore. You will find many exotic plants and a summer house full of garden furniture: tables, chairs, benches and steamer chairs so you can relax in every part of the garden. You can walk down to the beautiful white sands of the cove (lovely little shops and restaurants) in about 8 minutes: fabulous for swimmers and surfers too. The house also sits a minute from the coastal path so you can walk straight out of the house onto the breathtaking coastal paths and enjoy the wonderful coastal walks around Land's End and its many coves and beaches and spot some amazing birds, plants and animals. Esther's Field is beautiful in the spring and summer, and a cosy getaway in the winter months too with wood-fires and books to enjoy.

Land's End: The famous Land's End, the most westerly point of Great Britain, is under a mile away. You can see the well-known Longships Lighthouse and the last few outcrops of rock that stretch out in the sea towards the Scilly Isles from the beach in Sennen Cove. A walk along the coastal path from Sennen takes you to Land's End, and to many other beautiful little beaches around this headland.

Nearby towns: St Just, a charming little town with several pubs and shops, is a few miles away. The larger town of Penzance, with its rail link to London, is 8 miles away. Penzance has many fine old buildings, lots of antique shops and art galleries and a whole host of shops. From here you can also take the boat or helicopter to the Scilly Isles. About 40 minutes away by car is St Ives with its famous Tate Art Gallery.

Beautiful house with amazing view
We had a wonderful stay at Esthers field. Driving up the drive upto the beautiful thatched farmhouse was a wow! Once out of the car, the view over Sennen cove was even more wow. The house is beautiful with a lot of character which the In-laws loved! The rooms are very spacious & cosy, the beds were very comfortable and everyone slept well. Shame we couldnt have spent more time in the beautiful gardens due to the very wincy /wet weather! Would highly recommend this as your next stay at sennen cove. Thank you Jules x

I grew up in the West Indies, went to university to study Modern Languages in St Andrews, Scotland, and trained as a journalist, working as Features Editor for Country Living Magazine in London. I'm married to David and have 3 children. I love travelling, and think the best beaches in the world are in the Far West of Cornwall!

Why they chose this property

Esther's Field has a special atmosphere. I think this is partly due to its great age and significance (it is Grade II Listed as a historical building of interest) and its architectural charm. It is also because of its amazing position tucked into the hillside above Sennen Cove, affording vast, all-round views of sea, sky and coastline: truly breathtaking.

What makes this property unique

At Esther's Field, you will find peace and seclusion, but the glorious Cornish countryside, the beach, the sea and the amenities of Sennen itself are all just a few minutes from the house on foot. You will have the best of both worlds!
