Photos and Description of this Ardentinny holiday villa

2 reception rooms have uninterupted views over front garden and Loch Long

The White House was built to take full advantage of its unique position, facing west on a grassy bank just above a pebble beach facing Loch Long with panoramic views of the sea. The owners have taken a lot of care to ensure that the whole interior is beautifully designed and maintained. It is light, modern and comfortable for friends or a family holiday of up to 8 people. A log fire in the sitting room, walks along the shore or the heathery hills of the Cowal Peninsula. The sitting room and dining room open on to a wide balcony with views of Loch Long and there is a pleasant path leading almost directly on to the beach. There is a large flat screen television and DVD player, as well as books, games & a selection of CDs and DVDs. Also on the ground floor is a large vestibule, an inner hall and utility room with a washing machine. The superb kitchen has new AEG cooker and fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave. Central heating and household linen is provided. Ample parking for a car.

Filthy Property, Dirty Underwear Lying Round

  • 1 of 5

Do not book this house - here is a list of problems we emailed the owner who could not have cared less:

The photos on the website are misleading in that they show two living rooms which was one of the reasons we booked the property for 6 adults and 2 children. We thought everyone would have a comfortable seat at night. So instead, the two leather couches in the house seated 5 people meaning the others had to sit on dining room chairs at night. Why are there two living rooms depicted ?

There are four chairs on the decking outside, three of which are all broken and completely unusable and one dirty white plastic chair.

There was something burned on the floor of the oven so every time we put the oven on, the house was filled with acrid smoke, even with the extractor fan on.

The facia/kickboard under the oven is lying loose on the floor.

The fridge was not clean. The handle on the freezer is missing so you have to try and get your hand under to open it from the bottom.

Inside some of the kitchen drawers are stained and grubby

There were two saucepans suitable for porridge or boiled eggs or cooking veg, one had the bottom burned off it and the other had no handle.

The teapot had no lid so we had to use a coaster when pouring.

The dishwasher did not work all the time we were there and suddenly came back to life on Sunday night, and ran for a while, and then stopped.

There was no light in the family bathroom upstairs or the utility room when we arrived. There were two bulb packets in the kitchen cupboard but they were both empty. So we had to use a bulb from one of the bedside lights in the bathroom.

When we opened the drawers at the top of the stairs to get extra towels out, the top two small drawers collapsed as the dowels are broken and it had obviously just been shoved back in.

In the wardrobe in the bedroom with the en suite, there was a pair of worn men's underpants along with two empty cider cans, another empty cider can under the bed.

Only one bedroom had a waste paper basket, a red plastic one which was filthy at the bottom.

The stopper in the family bathroom is bigger than the plughole so you can't fill the sink to shave. The shower curtain is mildewey.

The general cleanliness of the house was not great, it had been hoovered and tidied but is is not fresh. All of the kitchen equipment is just shoved randomly into cupboards, and a lot of the items required to be washed before we could use them.

Beautiful place to relax and explore Scotland

  • 4 of 5

With friends visiting from Australia and New Zealand, this was the perfect location for showcasing beautiful Scotland - especially with the striking Autumn colours. The host was incredibly helpful as we booked late and got very lost arriving in the dark, so thank you very much for that. House was perfect for us, had everything we needed and it was reasonably priced. Previous review complains of 'no wifi' but there is 3G just a minute walk down the road, so just relax and enjoy the peace and quiet! THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!

Scenic location

  • 4 of 5

Property is very well maintained and is set in beautiful location. The only down side was that the property had no wifi facility which would have been really useful as there was no mobile phone internet reception (3G/4g) in this area. Property is surrounded by scenic drives and walks. Our stay was for 4 nights and we were a party of 9 so the 4 bedrooms were sufficient, supplied with an extra camp bed for the extra person.
