About Andres Wiernik
Our family is originally from San Jose. For several years, we visited Monteverde and dreamed with having our own piece of heaven in the Costa Rican Cloud Forest. In 2007, we bought this property and in 2008 we built our first cabin. More than 10 years later - this place has transformed our lives and continues to inspire visitors.
Andres Wiernik purchased this Chateau / Country House in 2007
Why Andres Wiernik chose Monteverde
We have almost one hectare (aprox 2.47 acres) of garden. Our house has several features that distinguish this property from any other in the Monteverde area. We offer unique upgraded suites with an amazing view of the property. This is an example of ecoturism at it's best. The property is located within walking distance of several restaurants, coffee shops, museums and the local cheese factory. We are located 5 minutes away from the main town (Santa Elena) where you can find a large variety of restaurants, gas station, banks, etc. We are also located 5 mins away from the Monteverde Cloud Forest National Park. This is by far the best private property available for rental in the area.

A Wonderful Family Reunion
We rented the full property for a week in July. Regina and Israel, the property managers, were in touch with us well before our stay and arranged guides and tours for us for no extra charge. The property is perfect for a large group, with individual rooms, all with full bathroom attached, and a separate glass-enclosed common area/kitchen for hanging out. We loved zip-lining and trips to the nearby forest reserves - with guide is a must. But perhaps our favorite part of the trip was sitting inside the property and watching the wildlife come to us. We saw parrots, toucans, agouti, monkeys, and more. Regina and Israel's husky named ECHO was also a highlight - a sweet affectionate dog who charmed us all.
Regina and Israel were great hosts
Yerba Buena is a great location in Monteverde. Just a couple of minutes into the main town, this compound has many bedrooms and a central kitchen/lounging area. Very quiet and secluded with lots of green space for kids to play. Right in the middle of all of the attractions. Regina made all the reservations we needed and she and Isreal were a wealth of information. If you like to cook, then I would say the kitchens were a bit of a challenge but for the basics and breakfast they were fine. There are two restaurants right next door so food is not an issue. We would stay with them again and we recommend them highly.
Beautiful place, incredible and location
We loved staying here. The place is very secluded and peaceful. The rooms and grounds are stunning and expansive. Gabriel and Maria were our hosts and they were so kind and helpful. We needed ice for an injury and they were very accommodating and gave us many good tips on what to do and where to eat in the area. We would definitely stay again.
Yerba Buena is a perfect place for families and couples visiting Monteverde. This spot has five rooms (renovated in November). Regina, the owner, has really put some care into the renovation. The rooms are decorated in a very comfortable modern way. The tile in the bathrooms is something to be seen.
There is a central Cabana where large and small families can have breakfast or any meal. The Cabana is well equipped and tastefully decorated. The grounds are spacious and well kept. Many birds to be seen and a friendly family dog.
Regina arranged a Zip line tour and a cloud forest tour (with Michael) for the nine of us and also recommended a restaurant dinner which went very well.
We would for sure stay here again when coming to Monteverde. We have visited Costa Rica seven times is this was our best accommodation.
Thank you so much for your nice review!
It was a pleasure have you and your family at Yerbabuena.
We look forward to your future visit!
All the best to you and yours.
Excellent place to stay. The house is set up very nicely. The care taker was always just a call away to assist. There are workers always on duty in the (mornings). Felt very secure.Kids enjoyed the open space and did a lot stargazing! Echo the siberian husky dog is very friendly and playful.
Lovely and private
Our party of 9 truly enjoyed our stay at Yerba Buena in early April. Our hosts were so friendly and provided excellent recommendations. We ended up using two cabins which were well appointed and comfortable. One day it was quite hot so we ended up spending some time on the porches to take naps and enjoying the breeze. The grounds are just lovely and allowed an energetic two-year old plenty of space to safely run around. Everyone in our group really loved our stay and kept thanking me for finding such a lovely property to stay at. We also enjoyed the guided tour our hosts set up with Michael at the Monteverde Cloud Forest. We loved the convenience of having Stella's Bakery just across the street and enjoyed delicious breakfasts there. A very good Italian restaurant is just a quick walk away and other restaurants are nearby. Highly recommend!
Thank you for your review. We are glad you enjoyed are property and hope you return back soon!
Set atop the spine of Costa Rica’s continental divide, Monteverde is a world above the coastal towns that dot the country's famous shoreline. It is a place of cloud forests and coffee plantations, monkeys, mist, and friendly locals.
Due to its high altitude – some 4,662 ft (1,440 m) above sea level – Monteverde is privileged to receive a steady supply of clouds and the life-giving moisture that they contain. This moisture, often in the form of fog, catches on the branches of the tallest trees and drips down to the other organisms below. This helps to support a complex and far-reaching ecosystem, one that harbors over 100 species of mammals, 400 species of birds, tens of thousands of insect species, and over 2,500 varieties of plants, 420 of which are orchids alone.
Visitors can explore this internationally recognized environment from trails and trams, along canopy tours or inside museums.
We welcome you to our property and advice you to plan on spending at least a few days to adventure through this verdant and mountainous world. PURA VIDA!
