Lakefront 2 Bedroom 1 Bath Cottage with Dock for Fishing and Swimming

Clean and comfortable, this cozy cottage offers a park-like setting, located next to the owners home.

Take an easy walk to the water over a large lawn for kids to play. It is a very gentle slope to the waters edge, where you will find a private single stall boat dock you are welcome to swim and fish from.

The main level has the living room, kitchen and full bath.

Upstairs, there is one queen bed in the Master Bedroom and the 2nd bedroom has two standard sets of bunk beds PLUS a Double Bed.....Plenty of sleeping room for up to 6 people.

There is a nice patio, and a deck off of the Master Bedroom to enjoy.

Great location, but not completely private

We stayed for a week in June and loved the off the beaten path location. Thoroughly enjoyed having a boat dock, solely for our use. The kitchen had everything we needed for the course of a week, except a dishwasher, but it was easy enough to use paper plates. It was very clean and we felt like the beds were plenty comfortable. It did surprise us that this is in a garage that the owners use. The owners were very kind and nonintrusive, but this property is in their yard. You share a driveway/patio with them. Again, they were very kind and helpful, especially when we first got there to show us around, but when we saw the "owner's live next door" on the review, I thought they lived in the adjoining property, but that was not the case. We also did have a bit of an issue with ants, on and off and when I texted the management company, they never got back with me. It wasn't a huge deal, I more wanted to let them know for future guests, or I would have been more persistent, but they did never respond. The only other thing was there was only 6 towels and with no washer on site for a week, that could have been an issue if we hadn't been prepared. Overall, we loved the location, accessibility to the lake, but the proximity of the property to other people and how difficult it was to reach the management company were details we wish we would have known prior to booking.

Owner's Response: We are so very sorry! Unfortunately, we never received a text (and I checked all three phone numbers we give guests to contact)...We had tried contacting you regarding check in, on the only phone number we have access to, which is the number you list on your VRBO account, and left a message, but wasn't certain that was a cell number. (Good thing for guests to be aware of, always put the cell number you will be traveling with, as your contact number in your VRBO account. It is SO VERY helpful, if we need to get in touch with you while you are traveling.) We do our very best to react instantly to ALL issues and apologize for any inconvenience. (Did you try to call as well?) The owners are also extremely helpful and do the maintenance, cleaning, etc. for their vacation rental, and would also take care of any issue that arises, instantly. That is a very good point regarding towels for an entire week, and will have the owners remedy that for future guests. Thank you!

PERFECT Lakeside getaway!

We could not be more pleased with our stay at the Gast Haus. We usually stay in rentals up on Whitney Mtn or in the Village with lake views. Nothing beats lakeside!! The only regret I have is that we didn't find this hidden gem earlier since we have been renting at Beaver Lake for years. My husband and I spent 4 nights here and it was perfect. It would definitely accommodate a family as well. It had everything we needed. Herb and Sandy (the homeowners next door) were so hospitable and friendly, but not at all intrusive. We had forgotten our charcoal and they happily supplied us with some. The house is very well maintained and clean. We had plenty of room to cook and it was very comfortable. The property itself was just gorgeous! We enjoyed our coffee every morning out on the private dock. Our boat is already slipped at Lost Bridge Marina right around the corner but having a private dock on the lake is such a bonus for renters that bring their boats. Honestly this property is a steal! I told Sandy we would have paid more! LOL.

We look forward to more stays at the Gast Haus. I can only imagine how gorgeous it will be when the leaves start to change this Fall.

Great location, Owners are very friendly and helpful

This is a great place to stay, the owners were very helpful. Lots of room upstairs where the bedrooms are located. Overall we had a very good time.

Pros

-Very friendly owners.

-Very quiet location.

-They were helpful with the grill. The grill is charcoal and we didn't bring charcoal and lighter fluid. So they provided us with charcoal from previous tenants and lighter fluid.

-Room is very close to the water, with your own private use of the dock.

-We were able to park at the front door and unloading your luggage was a snap.

-We rented a boat from Lost Bridge Marina which was very very close, and very reasonable rates compared to where we come from.

-They do have WIFI, just need to ask for the password.

Cons

-Challenging to find, which is not a bad thing.

-The floor noticeably slants towards the water. This was not a huge problem for us but noticeable on both the first and second floors.

-One bathroom on the first floor, kind of small.

-Little to no counter space in the kitchen.

-We used only the master bedroom, did not see the washer and dryer. The queen bed was not comfortable, it was much harder that we're used to and it too felt slanted toward the water.

-If you bring a boat I may be difficult to park it at this address.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback on our guest cottage. It is definitely out on a peninsula, and therefore out of the mainstream of traffic. We do give each guest a step by step map to get them from the office to the cottage, which is about an 8 - 10 minute drive. Unfortunately, there is just no room for a washer and dryer, which we try to make certain every guest is aware of (noted in the VRBO listing). The owners are wonderful people, and in the case of longer stays will often do a load or two of laundry for you in their home. Again, thank you for taking the time to let us know about your stay!
