About this property

Escape and Engage at Bray Barn Farm

Spacious, quiet carriage house in the Western Maine foothills nestled between farmhouse and barn. 15 acres of meadows and woods. Sleeps five. 4 miles north of Farmington towards Sugarloaf. Great for time with family and friends, vacations and solitude. We gladly accept all persons 21 and older. We welcome children and infants.

Fun, roomy design with a Maine woods spirit. Sleeps 5. 2 bedrooms, one on first floor and one in the loft. Sofa Sleeper in common area. Porch and Deck. Very cool woodstove. Fire pit in the meadow and a cozy hammock hidden between a couple of spruce trees. While good neighbors are close by, they are not visible; we are bordered by woods on all sides.

Downtown Farmington is great--University of Maine Farmington, good restaurants, a great independent bookstore and Reny's (a Maine tradition!). We are about 45 minutes from great hiking trails—Appalachian, Mount Blue, Tumbledown. Kingfield is 25 minutes, Sugarloaf area about 35 to 40 minutes. Rangeley Lake area about 45 minutes. Clearwater Lake is about 10 minutes.

Just what we needed!
We just loved Bill and Victoria. They were right there to greet us and show us around the farm. The carriage house is darling. It’s immaculate and charming and we love the thought they put into the decor. The little kitchen area has the most adorable stove and sink and was stocked with everything from fresh eggs and english muffins to yogurt, milk and oj (some of which were in the mini fridge). The wood stove is really unique and makes the loft all warm and cozy. If you’re an animal lover you will LOVE the donkeys and goats…oh my goodness! I fell in love with them at first sight! When we booked Bray Barn Farms a few months earlier, we had no idea how much we needed this getaway. It was so peaceful and actually healing for a couple of outside stressors we were working through. We had such a beautiful time and didn’t want to leave! Bill & Victoria’s place is magical and we will definitely be back!

About the host

We have lived in Maine about 15 years. Victoria is an artist from Cambridge, MA. Bill is a somewhat retired Episcopal priest from the Deep South. We love Maine and the Southwest, especially the high desert of New Mexico. When we travel, we stay at VRBO and Airbnb residences as often as we can. We love to share our small farm and our more rural way of being in the world (we spent many, many years in the city). We love our animals. We have two rescued miniature donkeys (Rosta and Lulu), a baker's dozen of free range chickens (plenty of fresh eggs for you!), two goats (Frank and Wiley) and two cats, Percy and Zoe, who roam here and there but hunker down at night in the farmhouse. Welcome!
