Chalet Alpstein is brilliantly located and has wonderful views of the Eiger.
Our family of 6 stayed in Alpenrose and had a fantastic week, despite the lack of snow. The location is ideal as we could easily walk to town for dinners and shopping, and a new supermarket is just steps away. There is also a sports center very close to the house with rock-climbing, ice skating, swimming, and the Tourist Information office. We could also walk to the train station for the trip up to the ski areas. The apartment was clean, comfortable, warm and well-equipped for cooking our own meals. The owners were responsive, helpful and friendly. We would highly recommend this chalet!
i had a great experience staying in this chalet , absolutely great view , near to the train station and the city center , shops and supermarket at walking distance , the home owner is goood , the wifi is not so good , keeps disconnected , but everything was great , i would love to stay again
I booked Studio Eiger for my stay here in Grindelwald for 5 nights.
The booking was done with relative ease and owners promptly answered all my queries within respectable time frame.
Upon reaching the appartment i was greeted with first of my suprises i.e. no shoes inside which should have been mentioned before, anyways upon inside i felt everything was neat and looked good although the equipment was a bit dated but all was functional.
then i started to notice all drawbacks of the appartment namely:
1- poor placement for electrical points to charge your gear,
example middle of wall with no wear to keep a mobile even if you plugged your charger there, right above kitchen sink where you might spill water, behind bed where you would need to shift bed by atleast 6 inches or so and then hence sacrifice on the backrest.
2- bed was again two single beds joined to be one, in fact i had informed the owner that i am with an infant and this arrangement was really sick, my baby kept stucking her hands and feet between beds as they drifted apart even with 10 minutes of lying down.
3- no toilet paper in washroom.
4- wifi reception was so poor that we had to take devices to stairwell to connect and after much pain when they do connected they would work only erratically.
5- a simple favor of dropping us back to station which is 2 minutes walk was ignored citing unusual reasons. (we requested this favor as it was slight uphill and with infant and luggage it would have been comfortable but we managed anyway)
6- there were some corners with spider webs and a couple of insects also were sighted behind beds.
on the positive (the ony positive) hair dryer was handed to us upon request.
all in all studio is well located and has good views, but be prepared for above as well.
Wonderful week in Grindelwald. The Chalet Alpstein was our home base to vacation in the Berner Oberland region. The chalet was spacious and nicely appointed. A quick five minute walk from the Grindelwald train station made it easy to catch the train. The view from the spacious deck is spectacular. The beds were very comfortable. It was an added bonus to have a shower and sink in three of the four bedrooms. The master bedroom has a shower/tub, double sink and toilet. We found the accomidacations ideal for the six women in our group. The chalet location was quiet. The walk to the main street shops and restaraunts is convienant. I highly recommend staying at the Chalet Alpstein and would absolutely stay here when I am in Switzerland again.
We spent a week in this lovely apartment. There was plenty of space for us and the terrace offered a stunning view of the Alps we'll surely remember. Right next to the centre and with direct access to the train to the Jungfrau, it was incredibly well located. Rosalind was extremely helpful and informative and we enjoyed throughly our holidays in Switzerland.
Dramatically set in truly magnificent scenery directly beneath the towering north face of one of Switzerland's most famous mountains- the Eiger, Grindelwald offers something for everyone. Grindelwald is easy to get to and hard to leave!
With more skiing than many of the more famous resorts, if you are considering Grindelwald for the first time you won't be disappointed.
Grindelwald provides extensive skiing to suit all abilities, with a half pipe and snow park, and 20 km of dedicated tobogganing runs. Grindelwald's three ski areas- from the South facing area of First over to the North facing areas of Männlichen and Kleine Scheidegg, the ski pistes face into the valley from all sides so you can tailor your skiing to the prevailing weather conditions.
For walkers there are 300km of marked hiking, walking and mountain trails, set in some of the most outstanding mountain scenery in the world. When was the last time you got up close to a crackling blue glacier?
Ski: Grindelwald has three main ski areas, Kleine Scheidegg, Mannlichen and First. The huge area of skiing provides an extensive range of slopes for all abilities and the surrounding mountains are breathtakingingly beautiful. There are over 230Km of ski area with 23 blue runs 34 red and 14 black. One of the greatest pleasures is skiing down one of the many wonderful routes from the top all the way back to the village at the end of a vigorous day. Grindelwald is very beautiful and the skiing is fantastic, not to be missed.
