About Chuck Williams
We are Atlanta natives who have enjoyed having a second home in the mountains that is only a couple of hours from the city. We built this cottage as an investment property. The house is enjoyed by friends, family, groups from our church and many guests who return yearly.
Chuck Williams purchased this Cottage in 2007
Why Chuck Williams chose Clayton
This house is unique in that the lower level is a separate one-bedroom apartment with a full kitchen. Families enjoying having reunions but perhaps the grands would like a quiet space to 'escape.' The large living space inside adjoins the wraparound porch and makes for comfortable enjoyment of creature comforts indoors and out. And, yes, there is an indoor stairway that connects the main floor and the apartment on the lower level.

Great, pet friendly cabin
We really enjoyed our stay. Very large, clean cabin with super nice screened in porches for hanging out. The trees cover the top and around all sides of the cabin, so it has a great cozy feel, and you have this sense of being totally away from the world.
The owner was great in getting the reservation taken care of and communicating with us about how to get in. Good instructions for using the TV;s too!!
The hot tub worked perfectly! I have stayed at so many places where there is always something wrong with the hot tub. Not here!
Close to town as well, so easy to go get your groceries and supplies.
The cabin could use a few minor essentials, but the owner has already replied back to me and said he would get those taken care of.
This is a fabulous home! Well maintained, clean, and nice decor. Stay here!!!
Great experience! Needs to change one thing on the amenities. It is not wheelchair accessible. There are steps to enter and the showers on the main floors aren’t accessible... other than that it is a perfect home!!!
I almost booked a B&B, but was so glad we booked this cabin instead. It's a large, clean and a well stocked cabin with incredible privacy.
It's also 3 minutes from town making it very convenient. Looking forward to staying again!
Such a relaxing weekend!
The house was stunning and very clean. The house has been recently painted and looks great! My family(in-laws and our two dogs) had the best time! The property is so convenient to downtown Clayton and different hiking trails/state parks. Chuck was great and easily available if we needed him for anything. We will definitely be back!
Loved the house and grounds.
Loved the house and location
Easily assessible. Large 4 bed 4 bath. Wrap around porches. Mountain view. Will be going back. Mr. Williams is very nice. Only suggestion is tvs in the bedrooms and update 1 in the apartment basement. Great house great location. Close to restaurants and Walmart. Paved roads. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your house
The perfect home for a family gathering
Our family visits the mountains and cold, fresh air each year the day after Christmas. We rent a home to accommodate our children, grandchildren and dogs.Though this year we had rain most of the week, we couldn't have enjoyed our stay more.
The Black Bear Den home was clean, comfortable and furnished in beautiful cabin style. The kitchen was fully equipped for every need. The wrap-around porch was perfect to relax with a cup of coffee with plenty of seating for the family. Just a beautiful piece of heaven.
Thank you Chuck and God bless your 2019.
The McCormick family
I am glad that your family enjoyed your time together while relaxing at our cottage. Thank you for the kind words and God bless you as well in this new year with many wonderful opportunities sure to present themselves.
For outdoor enthusiasts there several hiking trails from easy to difficult many with beautiful waterfalls and vistas. Many people enjoy the drive (45-60 minutes) to Highlands, NC. If you drive to Fanklin NC and take Hwy 64 up to Highlands you will enjoy the beauty of several water falls from your car. For those who like casinos, Cherokee NC is an easy and beautiful drive. Harrah's has a casino there, but also, you will find many attractions that the whole family can enjoy. White water rafting is fun for many. Both class 2 and 3 rivers are close by. Several companies offer guided river excursions. Canopy tours for those who are brave of heart are close to Clayton. Beautiful Helen GA, a Bavarian style village, is a pleasant drive and the kids can enjoy tubing in the beautiful river that runs through the village. Tallulah Gorge is a must see and has a very interesting visitors center with a movie highlighting the development of our region. There is a series of 3 lakes that were built by Georgia Power in the early 1900's to produce hydo-electricity. These lakes, Seed, Burton and Rabun offer opportunities to enjoy the public beaches or maybe rent a pontoon or other water craft and enjoy the splendor of the water while looking at the mountains surrounding the lakes. Dining in the area is varried and you can find places to eat to fit your budget--anything from Chik-fil-a to Fortify or the Lake Rabun Hotel.
