About this property

Pristine Waterfront Home near Sunday River. Ski, Swim, Fish, Relax! 5 STAR *****

Welcome to the Grove!
We are a small family business that has taken great care in providing a safe environment for you to relax and enjoy a peaceful vacation.
This 5 bedroom 3 bathroom home is the perfect spot for a getaway at any time of the year! Located down a private road on the serene Papoose Pond, the Grove is set among the diverse and beautiful white pine forests. We often receive visits from loons, eagles, great blue herons, deer, fox, bear, porcine and moose. Come enjoy the calm and joy that comes from living close to nature- once you are here you won't want to leave!

The house is complete with all you could need for a fantastic stay. Enjoy comfortable beds with new mattresses, a complete kitchen, and ample dining and lounging space inside and out. Each room has been lovingly decorated with local original and unique art and furnishings. For recreation, we have a hot tub, WiFi, ping pong table, foosball table, fireplaces (indoor and outdoor), and large open lawn for games. On our private beach front you will find three kayaks (take them down the Crooked River!) and a canoe.

We have plenty of parking and a two car garage. The long private road is professionally cleared and maintained year round. Our hot tub is also professionally cleaned after each visit. We have a wonderful mother-daughter team that take great pride in keeping the houses clean and organized for each new guest. We have a full house water filtration system, plenty of hot water and brand new washer/ dryer and dishwasher.
We also make it very easy to recycle while you are here.
We also have a full house generator in case thee is a power outage. It does not happen often but it nice to know your vacation will not be interrupted!

For shopping, dining, and festivities, the towns of Norway and Bethel are only a few miles away. Visit the vibrant micro-breweries, farmer's markets, art galleries, museums, movie theaters, bowling allies and antique stores that make Maine famous!

Summertime in the lakes region is full of swimming, kayaking, fishing or paddle-boating. Our private beach front is a lovey place to enjoy some quiet time by the water. Swing on a hammock among the pines, or go hunting for wild blueberries!

Fall is a magical time as the foliage changes and the migrating birds rest on the pond on their way south. There are many places to hike in the area with beautiful mountain views and waterfalls.

Winter is full of activities as SUNDAY RIVER is just a cup of coffee away (25 min drive). The road to Sunday River is a beautiful and well maintained drive. Or you can cross country ski and snow shoe right out our door. After a day of winter fun, hop into the hot tub for a relaxing soak.

Spring is also lovely as our gardens start to come to life and wildlife reappears. Take a long bike ride on quiet Maine roads with spectacular scenery.

Too many heads, not enough beds? We also can provide another property to rent that sleeps 6 with 2 baths right next door. We call this The Cottage at The Grove.

An amazing get away
This was our annual family get away but our first time staying here at the grove. The owners of this amazing home went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and we appreciated even the little touches. The home was well decorated, the beds extremely comfortable and my family LOVED the hot tub, the beautiful deck area and the fire pit the most. We used the kayaks daily and took the canoe out a few times. I cannot say enough positive things and we would definitely stay here again.

Mostly good, with a couple of hiccups.
It was a very hot, humid and rainy week for everyone, so being on a lake was great with a game room and lots of nooks for the rainy days. Having access to kayaks/canoe and life jackets was helpful, and the fire pit, picnic table, level yard, hot tub and ample parking were all nice features. What didn’t help was only having two small bedroom window a/c’s to cover three floors of space, and both the oven and outdoor grill were not working properly. Without nearby restaurants or grocery stores, that was a big impact. We were surprised by how many stairs led to the water (20+8 maybe?), with only a rope handrail. As we were leaving, the owner said she was delivering bigger a/c’s and was open to replacing the stove and grill, and generally seemed open to suggestions, so hopefully these won’t be issues for others. If the weather was good, all the windows with a view would have offered nice breezes and the a/c wouldn’t have been such a big factor. All in all, we enjoyed our family gathering.

Serene Getaway
Wonderful experience for all, aged 20 months to 83. Spacious 3 level cabin on a spectacular wooded spot in Western Maine. Well equipped inside and at the waterfront. Numerous amazing hikes with secluded swimming holes within 30 minutes. But with Papoose Pond just a few steps from the door, it was hard to leave!

Family Get Together
This was our 1st gathering in 3 yrs and the house was great. We did not want for anything and especially loved the dining area, not only eat but play games. Would highly recommend this house for a group.
