Spacious country home, all to yourselves. Great views over garden that reaches to Aisne river. Very quiet setting in outskirts of remote village in Marne. Variety of landscapes, forests, meadows, ponds. Ideal for bird watchers, hikers, cyclists. Look for Belval en Argonne to learn about natural setting. Also a few historical battle sites: World War I, French Revolution, Prussian wars. Roads are also very pleasant, no traffic. Attention: central heating is only partially provided in this house, it is not in all the rooms. See amenities description.

Schöner, ruhiger Urlaub ohne Stress

Sehr charmantes Landhaus mit allem, was eine Familie für einen Urlaubsaufenthalt benötigt. Viel Platz zum Relaxen und Spielen in Haus und Garten. Besonders schöne Atmosphäre in Wohnzimmer und Veranda mit Blick auf Garten und Natur. Touristenrummel gibt es in dieser Gegend nicht. Es war Ende Oktober sehr schön dort.

Peace Quiet and Cows

There's a phrase - 'It's in the middle of nowhere' - Les Charmontois is. Shop? 10Km. Petrol? 10Km. Bank? 10Km. Tractors? one every 10 minutes! Birds in the Garden? 27 species on day one, 28 if you count the Osprey in the next field. This very large gite is excellent. It is comfortable, well equipped and well kept. Sit in the extensive garden for all your meals and go to bed after you see the first bat. The bread lady will call at 08.15 with fresh loaves and baguettes - be up and ready when she wakes the entire village with her van's horn- if you miss her chances are you will not catch her, only hear her. The supermarket in Givry has what you need. Fresh meat is limited and do not expect a full blown Auchan or Leclerc. The bank is here and it has good priced petrol - but the days of filling up before you go home are gone. Unless you drink alcohol, the weekly shop is going to be about the same. With drink it will be cheaper. I suggest you buy large scale maps of the area before you go so you can see where you are and plan. We visited Verdun battlefield and museum and St. Miheil USA memorial for WW1 sites and the various lakes looking for birds. Good sights of raptors, black and white storks and flycatchers. St Miheil itself is interesting too. Big shopping at St,Dizier or Verdun. So lay back camera and bins ready and chilled Loire on the table. If you want you need do nothing! If you venture forth a rule of thumb for every 10 miles you go allow yourself 20 minutes and ignore the grass in the middle of the road sometimes. I do however defy you to a pothole!! Cows. Thousands in small groups in small fields including next door. Brilliant holiday and some special sights: No one there, Mirabelles, cows and calves, and on one special the arrival and the departure of about three thousand swallows - Ah summer must be over!

Wunderschönes Landhaus am Dorfrand mitten in der Natur

Romantisches, gemütliches Haus mit großem Grundstück, viel Platz für alle Bedürfnisse (außer Fernsehen), jeder findet seine Lieblingsecke. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Gegend eignet sich besonders zum Radfahren, es gibt ein Netz von ruhigen, asphaltierten Straßen. Auch Inlineskaten ist gut möglich. Vögel kann man bereits beim Frühstück von der Terrasse aus beobachten. Wir haben auch Schmetterlinge entdeckt, die wir zu Hause schon seit Jahrzehnten nicht mehr zu Gesicht bekommen haben.
