Serenely beautiful place to stay. Happily as it is represented.
Great place to stay for those that enjoy a quiet natural setting. Great place for those who are adventuresome and enjoy exploring all that the area has to offer. Very friendly, helpful and enjoyable rental providers.
Thank you for taking the time to review my property. Hope to see you in Paradise again next year.
We had several unplanned hurtles during this years Florida vacation! Finally we checked into this quiet, relaxing home on a 30 acre estate! We so enjoyed the pet pair of Sand-hill cranes "Dolly and Elvis", and the little overweight but very friendly guard dogs Gator and Simba!! The king bed was comfortable, kitchen was all that we needed. Far enough from Punta Gorda for privacy but close enough to do some shopping in the area. Thanks you two for a wonderful time!
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We loved sharing Paradise with you and hope to see you again next year.
This is a beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing place ! We loved exploring the grounds and the kayaking!
We thouroughly enjoyed our two week stay at this gorgeous place near Punta Gorda! The property is beautiful and we enjoyed daily kayaking on Shell Creek as we took pictures of the beautiful Florida birds and other wildlife along the waterways! What a great place to relax and enjoy the serenity and sunsets! The owners are very welcoming and helpful as they gave us a tour of the property and made our stay comfortable and fun! Looking forward to staying here again! Thank you!

Wonderful oasis for a perfect retreat
I just got home from spending four weeks in Gary and Kim's 30-acre paradise, and I am missing it already. I'm an author who sets up a winter office in Florida each year, usually spending mornings writing my books, and most afternoons hiking, exploring the area, and taking photographs. I like to get away from it all, but appreciate having a variety of options close at hand. This apartment fit my needs perfectly.
It's located creekside in the country outside Punta Gorda, with a waterfront view teeming with wild-life. A quick drive will take you into town, with lots of shops and restaurants, as well as an historic district, several parks, and a compact public Gulf beach that also has a fresh-water pool and bicycle rentals. Better yet, I had a great base of operations for day trips that took me exploring as far south as Everglades City, an historic village on Sanibel Island, the kitschy but great Gatorama, a Blues, Brews, and BBQs festival/car show in Ave Maria, and numerous Florida State Parks and Federal Wildlife Preserves. On four consecutive evenings, I made the short 30-minute drive to the Venice Rookery to shoot egrets, herons, anhingas, and alligators. Gary suggested a visit to nearby Arcadia, filled with antique shops and interesting buildings. There was a lot to see and do around Punta Gorda, and I'm glad I had enough time for so much of it.
The apartment is sized right for two or more people, fully-equipped with everything you need. It's private and separate from the main house, and while some days there was activity on the grounds, and other guests coming and going, it was downright tranquil compared with staying in a hotel, resort, or even a beach-front cottage. One night, I put a camera on a tripod just outside my front door, and set it up to take time-exposures of the stars for an hour, while I relaxed in a chair. Try doing that elsewhere!
Gary and Kim were perfect hosts, checking with me from time to time to make sure everything was satisfactory. Gary even took me out for an afternoon on his airboat to explore the beautiful (and wonderfully undeveloped) waterways nearby. When I came out each day or returned, I was greeted by their two friendly dogs and, sometimes, Elvis the sandhill crane. I really enjoyed my home-away-from-home.
David we are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us and thank you for taking the time to write a detailed review. As you know I was quite thrilled when you called to book as I knew an author/photographer such as yourself would be in heaven here. We so enjoy hosting and sharing our paradise with wonderful people such as yourself. Thank you again, hope to see you again soon.
beautiful expansive secluded waterfront acreage - unit not a stand alone "cottage"
Kind and gracious hosts at this clean, comfortable, well-equipped unit on a magnificent secluded waterfront property. I loved the abundant birdlife, and some of Florida’s best kayaking is right off the dock. A descriptive clarification: this unit is not a stand-alone “cottage”. Rather, it is a very small one bedroom ground floor apartment, housed in multi-purpose building, the back side of which is a huge garage/maintenance area. Adjacent to your porch is where the dogs eat, sleep and often hang out. There is a 2nd story apartment overhead, and when occupied you hear EVERYTHING going on above you loud and clear (voices, footsteps, chairs moving, cookware clanging, cabinets closing). Having sought quietude for meditation, this became problematic for me, and was unexpected given the "cottage" description (usually a stand alone little house).
As I explained to our guest Robin when she seemed to get upset because my husband had some friends over as it was a HOLIDAY weekend, there is 30 Acres here-SHE HAS HER SPACE & WE HAVE OURS. She actually complained to one of my guests (I was so embarrassed by her behavior) about the noise (this "noise" was comprised of two men and their girlfriends laughing & having fun as they prepared our boat for a launch, for approximately 2 hours in the middle of the day).
I advertise "secluded waterfront cottage" Cottage in the dictionary---"a small simple house, typically one near a lake or beach"--which is exactly what it is AND it is completely separate from the main house.
I do NOT advertise complete quiet, NOR do I advertise this is a place for meditation.
Further, as to my dogs, I make it very clear in my advertisement that this is a sanctuary full of wildlife and that I have guard dogs that roam the property. I also tell people if they don't like dogs not to book my place as they are my children & you have to love dogs.
Funny this guest is complaining, she even requested to stay longer until 400 pm instead of checking out at 11:00. She also told me she left the last home-away place "because it was awful" and lost her money, prior to her coming to my place.
In the future this guest should email hosts and ask questions instead of "instant book" that way you can find out if the place has things you like or dislike in advance.
We've had a total of 23 different guests from many states and countries that have thoroughly enjoyed being here and enjoyed SHARING our paradise with us. As the saying goes, you can't please everyone. Thankfully I have had wonderful experiences with my other guests who appreciate that we want to SHARE our private estate with them.
It was perfect. Quiet. Peaceful. Secluded. Yet close to the the places we wanted to go to.
We felt at home. The place was clean and well kept. We loved the seclusion. The dogs were a joy. They greeted us each morning along with the two Sandhill cranes. The river, dock, and wildlife added to our experience. The host was most gracious.
We are so happy you enjoyed our paradise. You must had a lot of fun I only saw you at check-in. Thank you for leaving the place so clean it was greatly appreciated. Please come back anytime, May-October the prices drop drastically.
