Overview

About the property

The perfect cabin for a quiet getaway! Gaze at the stars under a clear Big Sky night! Enjoy wildlife right outside your front door and wake up in the morning to a peaceful mountain view. This cabin is located on our 32 acre property. It backs to logging land with a path that leads to it just off the cabin. You have access to miles of trails for mountain biking, hiking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing.

Under construction is our Star Gazing area to be completed Spring 2018. This will allow you to view the Big Sky that Montana is known for with out the city lights to hinder the night sky. You will not believe the brilliance of the stars and planets.

While the cabin is located on our property, rest assured that you will have complete privacy to enjoy the beauty that surrounds us. There is a queen size bed on the main floor, a queen bed in the loft which is accessed by a ladder and a full size futon on the main floor.

We are located within 40 minutes of Glacier National Park, 45 min from Whitefish, Big Mountain, Bigfork, the Jewel Basin or Flathead Lake and we have countless trails within walking distance or a short drive. The options are endless for what you can do from this location. This is also a perfect base for hunting big game in Montana ( you must obtain your own license). There is fishing in Smith Lake which is 10 min away, or you can drive to Flathead Lake and take a day trip out on one of the many charter boats. White water rafting is another activity that is fantastic on the Flathead River!

We can help you plan any of the activities that you would like to enjoy. Please let us know what you're looking for and we're happy to help make your stay more enjoyable.

About Doug or Mimi O'Neill

We are Mimi and Doug O'Neill recent residents to Montana from Maine. Mimi is originally from Charleston, SC and Doug is from Evanston, Illinois. We met in Charleston 24 years ago and have been married for 14 years and both have children from previous marriages. Our immediate family consists of 2 Golden Retrievers Bella and Bear . Prior to moving here we visited Montana many times and chose the Flathead Valley as our home. We welcome you to visit our home and stay in our cabin and enjoy the serenity and beauty of Montana. Feel free to hike and enjoy our 32 acres and the surrounding forest that encompasses our property.

Why Doug or Mimi O'Neill chose Kila

As you enjoy your morning coffee on the cabin deck or a cold beverage at night rest assured the deer will be abundant along with the solitude that we have to offer. There will be no highway noise and no lights to hinder your view of the sky at night (Big Sky Montana) just the sounds of wildlife near you.

What makes this cabin unique

We are 15 to 20 minutes to Kalispell and 40 minutes to Glacier National Park. Flathead Lake and Big Fork are about 25 minutes away with other lakes nearby to enjoy-either fishing, boating or swimming.

Great cabin.

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at Doug and Mimi's cabin. We stayed a week and took in a ton of scenery in the area and at Glacier. We weren't interested in some huge fancy cabin and this fit the bill perfectly. It was the perfect size for my family of 4, very welcoming and priced right. Doug and Mimi were very nice to talk with too. I was initially concerned about what the distance was from where you park to the cabin but once we got there it was clearly a non-issue. We highly recommend this cabin and would like to one day return.

Tight lines,

Joe

Very cute cozy cabin.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was perfect! We stayed there 2 days during our honeymoon. It had a little kitchen that was fully stocked. It was very roomy yet cozy. There was always an abundance of deer and birds to watch right from the cabin. And we highly recommend having Mimmie cook breakfast. Her breakfast's are simply amazing!

Beautiful cabin with literally everything you need.

  • 5 of 5

Upon arrival, we were greeted by Doug and Mimi. They were super friendly and easy to talk to. You would have thought we'd known each other forever. After talking for a bit, they loaded up all of our bags on their 4-wheeler with attached trailer, and drove it up the short drive that leads to their rental cabin. They even helped us unload our stuff right to the front steps. The cabin is very comfortable and well equipped. You literally have everything you need except for food. If you don't bring food, Mimi can remedy that as well. The cabin was very clean and prepped for our stay. The bed was comfortable and there is one downstairs and one in the loft. There is a substantial amount of information in the cabin about the area which helps you in planning your activities. We used the Montana road atlas a great deal and took it with us each day. Wildlife is plentiful in the area and we saw a substantial number of deer, so be careful while driving around. Although Doug and Mimi's home is within view of the cabin, you feel like you have complete privacy. We only saw them whenever we needed something. We ordered Mimi's breakfast the day we were checking out and were so happy we did. She's a very good cook and provides you with a reasonably priced meal that is both filling and extremely tasty. My wife and I both loved this cabin and will most definitely consider renting it again.

P.S.

Mimi was quick to respond to any questions or concerns we had pertaining to this rental, allowing us to rent with confidence.

Little piece of paradise in Montana

  • 5 of 5

Our family had an absolutely wonderful time staying in this cabin. While we had primarily come to this area to visit Glacier National Park, we found ourselves really enjoying just being at this cabin, relaxing and seeing the wonderful scenery and wildlife around us. Our three boys really enjoyed taking hikes, having campfires, relaxing on the porch, and counting all of the deer we saw on and around the property. Doug and Mimi were fantastic hosts, and Mimi's breakfast that she made us was amazing. Everything was homemade-even the butter! The cabin was very nice, clean and well appointed. We would not have had to bring anything with us to enjoy the property. Thank you for such a wonderful experience. We truly hope to come back again in the near future!

Wonderful place to stay

  • 4 of 5

Mr.Diug & Mrs. Mimi were wonderful hosts. My family stayed at their cabin in August 2018. Beautiful property, very clean cabin, and both went out of their way to provide tips for sight seeing, and directions to some out of the way places to visit.
