About Douglas Washburn
I purchased the acreage in 1988. It was just a pasture then. Prior to 1992 I put in a road and had power and a septic tank installed. In 1992 I placed a 30' trailer on the place to use when I came up on occasion. I always had the dream to build a house on the property. In 1998 I began plans on building a very grand house on the place. I later toned it down and in 2002 I began and finished the construction of the house that now occupies the place. Preserving the view and maximizing the use of the pasture were important to me.

Beautiful Home with Breathtaking Views
We absolutely loved our stay here! The home was just what we were looking for. It was very quiet and peaceful but still close enough to town if you needed to run errands. We spent many evenings setting on the front deck just enjoying nature and much of the days hiking local trails. The owner was very kind, helpful, and easy to contact if needed.

I did not request this very nice review. So, I receive it with mixed feelings. This is a diamond in the ruff. The word is getting out which makes it more difficult for me to use it myself. Thank you to/ for the many visitors which have enjoyed this place. It truly is a stress relieving place. You can feel it fall off. My goal is to maintain that experience/feeling.
I really enjoyed the views and watching the cattle in the pasture nearby. Very peaceful. House is nicely arranged, outfitted and comfortable.
It is am awesome house that we shared with more family this time.

This house is located on the western slope of the Wallowa Valley. Chief Joseph fought to hold onto this place for himself and his people. It is truly worth the fight. The air is very crisp, clear and you can hear sounds from miles away. It is not uncommon to see deer (mule and white tail), pheasants, chuckers, quail, elk and occasionally a black bear.
This property is located on 60 acres. There is pasture space available for short term grazing of horses or pack animals. Dogs can stay here if left outside. Cats are allowed if they are declawed.
The property is located 3 miles outside of Enterprise. Between the two towns of Joseph and Enterprise there is amble recreation, shopping, and basic needs viz restaurants, hospital, gas, food, post offices, golf, etc.
The place is extremely quiet and seclusion is ample. The house can easily sleep 8. There are 2.5 baths and ample hot water. The water is derrived from a deep well so it is delicious and cold.
If you are seeking a very stress free environment... this is certainly the spot.

Additional fees are cleaning deposit of $135.00 and an insurance fee in lieu of a deposit of $89.00 A non refundable deposit of 25% is required. All other payments must be paid 4 weeks before arrival. Weekly and monthly rates are available. Call for details.
