About this property

Updated Farmhouse Near the Parkway, w/ 11 acre Park w/ Stream/ Ponds/ Disc Golf!

Looking to escape the fast-paced life of the city? This 1920's updated farmhouse off the Blue Ridge Parkway is the perfect solution. This 10+ acre park features ponds, a trail, & a disc golf course. Return to the simple life by relaxing in the hot tub, or by lounging next to the rushing stream! In 2019, we expanded our vision & have built a timber frame barn (over 300 ft from the house), featuring a site (Wonderlust Acres) for weddings & events. The Stargazer calendar will be blocked for events.
Relax on the covered front porch overlooking the ponds and pasture, and listen to the soothing sounds of the rushing stream and the joyful chorus of nature. Curl up with a book in one of the home's cozy nooks, or go for a invigorating morning walk along the gravel roads or trails through the many acres of mature forests that surround the house. Kick back in the hot tub on the cool nights and enjoy the firefly show, start a warm fire in the fire pit, or just lay out under the stars of the protected Dark Skies area to take in the magnificence of creation.
Included is: a 5-person hot tub beside the house, high speed wi-fi, firepit and patio stone fire pit and charcoal grill, 10.5 acres to wander, complete with 3 ponds, a walking bridge, and 2 covered pavilions.
As of the Spring 2020, in addition to the farmhouse, we are offering an open air glamping loft in the pond pavilion that sleeps 4 more guests on 2 full mattresses. There are also 2 guest rooms in the barn (sleeping 2 on pull-out sofas in each) with access to the barn bathrooms and outdoor showers. Search for Wonderlust Acres under our listings to book that with up to 24 guests. The glamping options WILL NOT be in use if the Stargazer Farmhouse is rented, and were added just for large groups/events to book the entire property.
Starting in the end of 2023, we will be adding our 1st Tiny House on site for guests to book. The tiny house is tucked far in the woods at the back of the property and way out of view of the farmhouse. The tiny house will be booked separately as a unique vacation rental, and will be instructed to have access to a small sitting area on the creek at the farthest end of the property from the farmhouse . ***THOUGH GUESTS FROM EACH WOULD RARELY SEE EACH OTHER, IF YOU PREFER COMPLETE PRIVACY, THEN FEEL FREE TO ASK IF THE TINY HOUSE(S) ARE BOOKED BEFORE YOU BOOK STARGAZER AND WE CAN LET YOU KNOW***
The property is just 2 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway and 20-25 miles from West Jefferson and Boone, 40 minutes from Blowing Rock
Hot tub, multiple fire pits, charcoal grill, outdoor grill pit, stream, pond, 10.5 acres to roam, 40in flat screen TV, and fiber optic wifi, the 10 basket disc golf course, outdoor games of cornhole/ badminton/ ladder ball toss, are all for use. Guests who book the house are not allowed to use the glamping structures unless they pay for them.
On the main level is a full bedroom. Linens are provided for the living room sofa if needed. Upstairs living space is a game area/loft with a twin bed cubby, a seating area, the laundry, and a wet bar. Queen bedroom is also located upstairs.
combo lockbox is on the door, directions/instructions/combo will be emailed 1-2 days prior to arrival
2 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway, 25 minutes to Boone or West Jefferson, sits this very private oasis. The picturesque farmhouse is tucked back on a hill overlooking the large trout stream and 3 ponds set within the expansive landscape. Truly paradise.
The nearest restaurant is amazing, and is called the Park Vista Restaurant (check their site for hours of operation). The nearest gas station (with some basic supplies) from the house is about 12 minutes away at the corner of hwy 163 and hwy 16. Mountain Aire Seafood and Steaks is next to it. Downtown West Jefferson is 25 minutes away, and has a great downtown area (breweries, restaurants, theatre, cheese factory, outdoor outfitters, etc). For good fishing and floating, the New River is just 10 minutes away.
**We have a minimum age policy of 23, due to some unfortunate past uses of our properties by younger guests**
TV is set up for streaming movies/shows (on surround sound) and Netflix, Hulu, Pandora, etc on TV audio; all TV channels are found on our YouTube TV subscription already logged in. Use your own account logins for other streaming channels. Check-in time is 3pm, check-out is 10am (this is flexible with approval, if there is not another guest booked on the same day, and the cleaner is available). Linens are provided for all guests.
If you use the disc golf course, bring your own discs and be sure to collect all of them before leaving.
Owner reserves the right to alter rates for special booking dates like holidays, Merlefest, etc after the booking is made.

Stargazed and Amazed
We rented this cabin to get a peaceful vacation and that's exactly what we got. Not to mention the name is very fitting, the view of the stars at night is absolute breath taking. This cabin is very cozy, comfy and perfect for anyone who just really wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. We will definitely will be staying here again.

Magically Relaxing
I went to this property over new years weekend with three friends. The house was perfectly sized for all of us. We had such a good time exploring the property, hanging out in the hot tub, and relaxing on the back porch. The property the house is on is absolutely beautiful. The house itself is charming and has the perfect amount of squeak to it's floors. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to make our own meals. Communication with the owner was very easy and fast and they were nothing but incredibly kind. Would ABSOLUTELY stay here again.

Excellent property!
What an amazing place to stay! From the fresh cut flowers, the goody basket, candy jar, and fire setup everything was superb. Check in was a breeze. Communication was excellent with the host and we felt they went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. The house is quite charming and surrounded by your very own piece of paradise. The scenery, relaxing creek, and pond were all huge highlights. The only regret I have about this stay was not staying longer. The family and dogs can’t wait to return!!

About the host

I grew up in Wilmington, NC, went to school at NC State and Lees-McRae, obtained a Business degree and have invested in real estate for about 15 years. I left my management job with Food Lion after 15 years of employment, to start a career as a real estate agent years ago...and love it! I moved to town in Boone in 2012, and decided to keep this property for friends and family to use, and to rent out for others to enjoy as we have for years!

Why they chose this property

After visiting the mountains with friends to hike numerous times, I bought this little cabin as my first home, while I lived in Charlotte so that I would have a place to escape from the city on the weekends. Of course, the more I escaped, the more difficult is was for me to return to the traffic, the heat, and the smells of the metro. After owning it for a year, a job opened up for me in the mountains, and I gladly accepted! And I've never looked back!

What makes this property unique

The first time I drove down the long driveway through the mature canopy of trees, and heard the sound of the stream from my car, I knew this was my place of paradise. The solitude and the beauty of untouched nature has been my refuge for 15 years. I embraced the rich history of the house and its stone steps and patio made from the rocks from the creek, and the oak beams and frame, hand cut on site, all still standing after 90 years of use and neglect. I had the privilege of restoring the home completely and making it my own, from the roof to the floor and even further by having the whole house lifted 2 feet to help preserve it for years to come. I've enjoyed the simple charm of watching the thousands of butterflies that come every year to the butterfly trees behind the house, the wildlife sightings of deer, hawks, waterfowl, turkey, groundhogs, raccoon, and even a bear, the nightly display of the brilliant lights of the fireflies, and of course, the STARS!
