This apartment is wonderful and so well-equipped. We often stay in vacation apartments and I've never seen one so well stocked with all you could need. Everything from plenty of linens, extra toiletries, books/DVDs, an iPad and more. John met us at Bangkok airport and had also stocked the place with some snacks, which was great with a late arrival (also arranged transport back and forth for us).
The setting is absolutely relaxing and beautiful. The front porch overlooks the meandering pools and lush greenery (there is nearby construction on the Marriott, but we were forewarned of this and it was still very peaceful compared to our day-to-day noise in Shanghai). Mosquitos are pretty relentless there, but the apartment even had mosquito coils there to burn and repellent (must use!). Great to sit out and relax, tons of vacation reading material. The master bedroom looks on to the lush greenery and even with the shades down you can see the view and feel so peaceful.
Nice kitchen space too, so you can stock up on some groceries and at least have snacks or breakfast right at the apartment. The stovetop was a bit slow to cook; plenty of dishware etc. There's so much great Thai food to be had, you probably won't be cooking any major meals anyway! We loved all the space, the decor is so zen! You will feel right at home (only better)!
The wifi in the apartment was the only challenge for us, but on a positive note it did force us to disconnect which is what we should be doing on the beach. As a freelancer, wifi is important to me though and the apartment's wifi was for one device at a time and seemed to only connect to the spots with a very weak signal. We got local SIM cards and then used our phones mainly for general searching/info. Jean also provides an iPad to connect...so for most people/situations, there's probably plenty of connectivity. There is also a computer room available.
The complex's pool is great! Infinity pool looking over the beach...so amazing! We were there in the off-season so very few people. We enjoyed lovely strolls on the beach, though jellyfish were bad. That's the great thing about the pool...you can feel "on the beach" without worry about sea creatures:-).
You are a short walk in to town and along the beach, there are several resorts nearby to go for a drink or lunch. Also a quick stroll to Villa Supermarket or Tesco and plenty of shops, coffee spots, convenience stores, etc. nearby. Hua Hin is a wonderful little town!
Stayed here eight nights with my family (two kids). It was our first time in Hua Hin. Transport from Bangkok was organized so we didn't worry about that. We met John at Bangkok and he brought us keys and information about Hua Hin and condo so we could check those in advanced. Everything was organized keeping in mind that we have two small kids. We enjoyed our stay very much. Location and services are great. Would like to stay again. Greetings from Finland!
We stayed at the apartment for 11 nights, and had a wonderful time. The booking process was really smooth. In Bangkok we met John who brought us the keys and plenty of information and ideas on activities for our stay in Hua Hin. A couple days later John welcomed us upon arrival at the apartment. As we arrived around lunch time John had organized some food and drinks (it is really more like arriving at a friend’s house than at a rental).
The apartment is well laid out and beautifully furnished. Everything you can think of is available in the apartment. The location of Baan Sanploen is perfect; 5 minutes to a shopping center with a large Tesco; a night market across the street where more locals than tourist tend to go; the main night market with great restaurants is a 10 minute walk.
The pool area is great (only too few chairs, although that is not really a problem when staying in the apartment as portable beach chairs are on hand in the apartment). The beach is great, unfortunately when we were there the tides were unusually high and walking on the beach was somewhat restricted.
Activities: night markets, massages, elephant riding and Monkey Mountain.
In summary a beautiful apartment, perfect location and amazing owners.
I found this property after weeks of trawling through websites and I'm so glad I stuck with it. This condo was more than we expected. The layout was excellent and you could see that Jean put real thought into the decor. The bookcase on the balcony was a nice surprise and huge thanks to John for providing a gift of wine, beer and cola for us on our arrival. Everything we needed was provided, towels, shower gels, shampoos.
The bedrooms were so comfortable and the living area big and airy with a huge television and lots of DVDs provided. We didn't have to worry about where to eat or shop because so much information for the visitor was in the condo for us.
The condo was spotlessly clean and the general property was so tidy and well maintained. The pool was very relaxing and right next to the beach.
Jean was a pleasure to deal with and John was so friendly and welcoming and left us a gift when he met us in Bangkok to collect the keys. And a great surprise to get a text from him as we left Thailand to wish us a safe journey.
I can't wait to visit again and stay at Jean's.
We stayed at this apartment for 5 days, and really enjoyed our stay. The living/kitchen area is spacious, and the front balcony very comfortable for having meals, or for just sitting. I loved the bookcase. The back balcony is off the kitchen and really just for drying clothes. The main bedroom is very nice, although the second bedroom is a little small.
The main pool was lovely and we enjoyed the slide. There is also a long narrow pool which stretches from reception down to the beach. Sometimes we used this for a quick swim.
I think August is low season and we often had the pool and beach virtually to ourselves, We often went for an early morning walk along the beach, before it got too hot.
The apartment is incredibly well stocked. There were stacks of towels, including beach towels.
What made our stay so special was the attention to detail from Jean and John. Jean answered my many emails before our holiday, and John met us in Bangkok, at our hotel, to hand over the keys, and to give us information about the apartment and about Hua HIn. He emailed us with further information, arranged our taxi's to and from Hua Hin, and was there before we left, with a present and details about the airport and our flight, and even a weather forecast for London. (Okay, I didn't need to know I was going back to showers and a temp of 12c!)
The apartment is clean and light, and the grounds are kept beautifully, the staff are always cleaning the pools and the pathways. There are small supermarkets nearby and Tesco, about a 5 minute walk away.
Overall, a very enjoyable stay.
My husband and my 3 young children from Melbourne had the holiday of a lifetime. The apartment complex is fantastic and very well maintained. This condo is absolutely beautiful and the owners have thought of everything - including books, dvds, and board games for the kids. For a family holiday this can't be beaten. The swimming pool caters for kids of all ages and includes 2 slides and looks onto the glorious beach. The restaurants, markets, and beach cafes provide amazing fresh food at exceptional prices and are all very close by. Whole family will love the pools, beach, markets, elephant safari, monkey hill or just chilling in the beuitiful and homely apartment. We made use of the childrens playroom and also the gymnasium and sauna. The 24 hr security and pool attendants weere all very helpfull and friendly. We would strongly reccommend this condo to anyone.
A 5 min walk to Town Centre & Beachside location which offers Horse Riding & various watersports means Baan Sanploen is a Dream Location.
With 8 Golf courses in Hua Hin area it is a Golfers Paradise, Visit an Elephant Show , Thai cooking course or pamper yourself with a day at the Spa. Many Local Massage, Manicure & Pedicure Salons are very good & inexpensive. A walk along the beach to Khoa Takiap (Chopstick Mountain), visit the many Leather shops or shop for Thai silk. Dining is a pleasure in Hua Hin with every taste catered for.The Night Markets offer you the chance to eat Delicious Thai Food & browse the stalls.Market Village a 5min walk has a variety of shops including Tesco. Almost opposite apt is Villa Market specialising in Western Food Products. After a relaxing day at the pool/beach why not watch the sunset with a beer/ cocktail either on the balcony or at the many Hotel or small Beachside Bar/Restaurants. Relaxing will not be a problem here but returning home may be.
